2024.11.24 23:10 Rapogi Cup-One vs Ninja CM104
So let me start by saying that i've only recently started my "coffee journey" earlier this year with the purchase of the ode 2 during prime day, and let me just say, thanks to the ode 2, i've noticed that im now drinking coffee more so because i enjoy it as a beverage as opposed to a "pick me up." That was really nice experience to realize. So with that said, i wouldn't say i am able to tell the difference b/w bad or good coffee unless its blatantly obvious stuff like super bitter or very acidic. so sorry in advanced for the long post!
so let me lay out the stuff im using:
- Grinder: Fellow Ode 2
- Brewer: Moccamaster Cup-One, Ninja CM104
- Beans: Trader Joe's Organic Fair Trade Shade Grown Ethiopian Coffee
- ratio: 17.4g of coffee to 10 oz/283.5g water("rich setting" in ninja cm104 does 2oz bloom and then 8oz)
I'll try my best to lay out some observations i have b/w the 2 cups I made, maybe someone can point out stuff im missing.
Cup-One:
- while the coffee is still "hot" the initial flavor while having the actual liquid in the mouth is very subdued and mellow, it lacks the bitterness/boldness i would expect it to have, although it doesn't "taste like water"
- the earthiness comes in more as an after taste, and that's when i get that bold, dark-chocolate taste i'd expect from medium-dark roast
- As the coffee cools down the taste from having the actual liquid becomes more and more subdued but the aftertaste i explained above still remains
- although i don't get acidity, i do start to get it when i set the Ode 2 to 8
- im pretty sure my ratio is .4g more than what moccamaster recommends
- while the coffee is still "hot" the flavor is very "bold" and "in your face," it is def bitter, but a good kind of bitter? (im not sure if bitterness is to be expected in medium dark Ethiopian beans?)
- there is no "after taste" in the coffee at least like how it was with the coffee brewed with the Cup-One, all the "flavor" of the coffee seems to be just that, "up front"
- as the coffee goes from hot to cool, i noticed some acidity that went away when the coffee reached a cool temperature.
- the primary flavor becomes bitterness when the coffee has cooled down and still no "after taste effect"
- i've had the Ninja for a long time, and first thing i did when i got the Ode 2, was try to do some lighter roast, and i can say the ninja def struggles at medium roast, it's hard to get acidity out
- i brewed the coffee comparisons at the same(as in clicked the brew buttons at the same time) and the Cup-One finished last so i was surprised on the "lack of flavor" compared to the Ninja which finished a good 30 sec before the Cup-one
- one thing i haven't tried yet is increasing the amount of coffee with the Cup-One, but i think that would make it hard to compare?

Otto and his brother, Jake, built the original Granby Theater which stood next to the Monticello Hotel. That Theater burned in the New Year's Day fire of 1918, which also devastated the Monticello Hotel and the Paul-Gale-Greenwood Company. Many people felt the fire originated in the Granby Theater. The Wells brother's most notable contribution to Norfolk was the Wells Theater. When built it was the home of Wells Amusement Enterprises, a string of forty vaudeville theaters throughout the South. John Philip Sousa, Billie Burke, Fred Astaire, and Will Rogers all appeared at The Wells. During the 1960s and 70s the Theater fell into disrepair although continuing to show adult films and housing a disreputable bar known as The Jamaica Room. The theater underwent a five year restoration in the 1980s and has been the home of the Virginia Stage Company ever since. Otto Wells also at various times owned or operated the Ocean View Amusement Park, the Nansemond Hotel and the Academy of Music. Wells Parkway in Ocean View was named in his honor. Jake and Otto were originally first cousins, but when Otto was orphaned at an early age, Jake's parents adopted him. I once read a fic that contained revels (in front of Voldy and DEs, might have been initiation or a Hermione is Voldy's daughter fic or neither), in which Hermione tortured Umbridge in the form of muggle torture, where Hermione separated Umbridge’s ribs from her spine, pulling her bones and skin outward to form a set of “wings” as in a blood eagle. I remember something along Draco also torturing someone the muggle way after Hermione's suggestion (might have been Pansy, might have been with a hammeknife) and I'm pretty sure that Greyback took Umbridge's body to do whatever with. I can't remember who Hermione was paired with though. Anyone have any ideas as to name of it?
