2024 and age 25 haven't been kind to me.
I lost my second grandparent in ~3 years in March. I hadn't spoken to that side of the family in a long time and I regret not having a chance to say goodbye.
My ex-fiancee and I split in June, amicably and initiated by me but still hurt a lot to end it. I was able to hold it down financially until I had strep so bad it hospitalized me twice in two weeks, giving me massive medical bills even with insurance and a PIP at work for attendance (even though I used PTO) that eventually led to me being let go in October, ineligible for unemployment. I tried to fight for it but failed.
I got a well-paid job canvassing, but hey we all know how the election turned out and obviously that job only lasted so long. Haven't had much luck finding the next job - I'm in the late interview stage for 3 different places that'd be a step up from my old job, but still waiting for confirmation for all of them. I at least start a part-time gig at the post office in a week to bridge the gap. If it wasn't for a friend hopefully helping me out (discussing that tonight), I wouldn't be able to make rent this upcoming month, and my debts are beginning to pile up and catch up with me. I come from a very working class family and have been pretty much on my own since 18, so I won't be seeing any assistance from them any time soon.
I spent $60 at the grocery store with my last paycheck canvassing and I just have to make it last as long as I can. I'm typically eating one meal a day and I'm losing a lot of the healthy weight that I put on over the past few years (I used to be quite skinny in high school and college).
I'm trying to stay positive and have just been calling it a "hard reset" of my life that I wasn't very happy with for the past few years, but this time unemployed and alone in a city with few friends and the closest family 4 hours away has just left me with too much time to overthink things.
I tried to make it work for a while to no avail, but should I have kept trying with my ex? I don't see myself connecting with anyone on the same level as we did for those few years ever again, and the split directly led to the financially instability that could leave me homeless if I don't find work soon. As the resentment falls away from the struggle of our last few years together, I find myself nostalgic and missing her more and more. I know it was the right decision, but was it really? Where would I be now if I just kept pushing to keep things stable?
Should I have tried harder at my old job? They overworked and didn't appreciate me, but it was stable and stable is all I want at this point. If I had my fiancee with me when I got sick, would I have needed to call an ambulance to go the hospital? Would I even have gotten sick?
Seasonal depression hit like a truck and now we're in the cold, grey stage of winter in the Midwest and I feel all the color draining from my life. I know if I just keep pushing I can make it work, and there's plenty of people who've had it worse than me and came out on top. But I question if I myself have the strength to do it.
Thanksgiving's coming up and I don't even know if I can afford to drive and visit my family for it. I still want to be thankful and grateful for the life I'm living. I'm grateful for my friends, I'm grateful for my two beautiful cats who bring light to my life and affection when it all feels so bleak, I'm grateful that I am who I am today, and I'm grateful for the stability that hopefully follows me into the future. I'm grateful that the Detroit Lions are having a historic season!
It's getting harder and harder to be optimistic and keep my head held high. I'm exhausted. I'm lonely. I can't escape. But I have to keep going, for my cats' sake at least. And for my own sake, I suppose.

Hey,
As the title says - my gutter is missing some seals, causing leaks. I can't seem to find any manufacturing prints on the guttering to identify what make and model it is. I believe it's the Ogee caramel gutter, but I can't seem to find any seals online to match this gutter. Considering using sealant on the guttering to manage the leak for the time being, has anyone done this, has it worked?

 | I was just given these plants and I have no idea what to do with them or how to care for them, but they are not doing too well. I just bought the bamboo sticks and stuck them in there so the plants could have support, because it was all just a massive hanging mess. I am afraid the bamboo is not good for them either? A lot of the lower leaves towards the bottom are dead - I already removed a bunch of them. Please help! They're so nice and I wanna make sure they thrive! There's definitely at least two different plants growing in there! I was told by the person who gave them to me that she was watering them once every 3 days, but now since it will be sitting in a south-facing window, I should water more often? Hey guys! I just finished Second Foundation and something caught my eye, which did not on my first read. Spoiler alert!
On the last pages when Turbor is with the Fleet, they capture Preem Palver because he wants to go to Terminus. Turbor SOMEHOW recognizes his name and demands the admiral to speak with him. He asks Palver who the girl was he "abducted".
Maybe I am just dumb :D or missed something but how did he recognize his name and how did he know that Palver abducted Arcadia or anybody at all.
His knowing about Palver seemed strange to me.
