sometimes while looking into the early church I see people debating the history of papal supremacy bring up, on the sides of the Catholics, quotes from early church fathers that mention the primacy of Rome, like this quote from St. Methodius which says: "Because of his Primacy, the Pontiff of Rome is not required to attend an ecumenical council; but without his participation, manifested by sending some subordinates, every Ecumenical Council is as non-existent, for it is he who presides over the council"
In response, I tend to see Orthodox guys say something along the lines of "Primacy isn't the same as supremacy, this just means Rome was first among equals, not the head of the church."
The heart over this issue of what papal primacy means seems to me to be that we define primacy to be basically the same thing as supremacy, whereas the Orthodox tend to see it more as an honorary title given to the first among equals. What proof is there that the Catholic view of the definition of Primacy is the one used by the early church when they made remarks such as the one by St. Methodius quoted above?

Like the title says, it just no longer detects mouse movements on my ASUS mousepad. It seems to only pick up any movement on a piece of paper or a reflective surface like the Damascus skin I have on my Mac from Dbrand. I’ve tried changing the lift off distance, swapping between wired and wireless mode even using a hand blower for camera lenses to clean the sensor. All did nothing, it still picks up clicks so it is working just can’t move it

2024.11.25 02:24 Didydi My older character a Tempest Cleric returns back to the party after spending time gaining knowledge. Now I don't know how to play how it might have changed him.
I play in a long term campaign in a store near where I live. Since the group of players switches occasionally we use xp insteaid of milestone for leveling. At some point there were only two characters left from the very first session. Mine (Josh) and a friends' (Drake) as other people stopped playing campaign for reasons and new people joined at lower levels. This became a problem due to both Drake (level 9) and Josh (level 8) while the rest of the party was barely level 6.
So first my friend retired Drake temporarly and the session after I retired Josh for a little. Josh is a tempest cleric that's extremely zealous for the in game lore god, even though he lacks a lot of knowledge about the gods. He is lawful good, but the lawful part is heavily influence by the will of his god, or how Josh interprets it. Because his god thought it was a good idea and approved the party, including Josh killed one of the other gods in the setting. All this time he has been learning about the god, mostly his. After learning the truth about something that happened in his past, he also learned that the gods in this setting live in the domain they 'control'.
The combination of these knowledge shook him quite a bit and I used the pretext of this for him to go look for more information and knowledge in libraries and churches. Tomorrow I will be playing Josh for the first time back in the party ever since. He already started doubting his god and preferring the domain itself before he left the party. But right know I don't really know how all this knowledge about the other gods and domains changed him and how to roleplay this.
Any ideas or advice is a big welcome. (Yes I am planning to talk with the DM about this as well.)

Anybody else feel like some of the dialogue is a bit off? Less so in the sidequests but some sequences in the main story feel very disjointed, as if every single line is translated in isolation with no regard for the rest of the dialogue.

Hello. I had this very weird dream a few nights ago, and I cannot make heads or tails of it.
To preface…. All of my dreams are as if I’m watching a movie on tv, or the dream is in my POV. I rarely if ever, actually see myself in my dreams. I hope this makes sense. But in THIS DREAM… it’s all from the Wife’s POV. Let me explain..
In the dream: I was working for, or really close friends with a family. Really nice family. Really nice home. The wife was sad/upset about something and she walked throughout the home explaining to the husband why she’s sad.
The wife then innocently walked to the hall bathroom and stopped talking mid sentence. She walked to the bathtub, and pulled the shower curtain back and there I lay…. In the bathtub dead.
I was super pregnant, at least 8-9 months. I lay curled in the bathtub, fully clothed, badly bruised, bloody, and pale. There was no saving me… or the baby in my stomach.
The wife immediately screamed a blood curdling scream and dropped to her knees. She climbed inside of the bathtub with my body and hugged me while saying “I’m sorry. I’m sorry” in between her screaming. While she was hugging my body in the tub, the dream had a close up to my deceased face…. I lie there… motionless, lifeless.
And then I woke up.
I woke up holding my belly and slightly breathing hard. But not scared. I had no real emotion. Confusion maybe?
I know death in a dream is supposed to mean like a rebirth almost. And pregnancy could mean something similar… But what freaks me out is that I have never seen myself hurt in my own dream. I’ve also never had a dream where it was strictly through somebody else’s point of view. I cannot think of what this means. But it’s bothering me and I remember it so vividly.

2024.11.25 02:24 MovieGuyMike I think it’s time for a new rig. Please rate this gaming build.
My previous rig is 15 years old. It seems like a good time to start a fresh build. However, between work and raising kids I don’t have much time to sit at my desk for hours the way I used to. So I’m trying not to go overboard. I’ll probably end up using this for desktop gaming here or there when time allows. I would also like to dabble with video editing since that’s something I used to enjoy. For the immediate future this rig might be primarily used to stream games to a device in a separate room in my house.
The other thing is the games themselves. I’m not even sure what I’ll be playing on this thing. I’m looking forward to Subnautica 2. I want to check out satisfactory and Dyson sphere program. Beyond that I generally gravitate to less demanding indie games, though it would be nice to have the option to check out upcoming “AAA” games like Doom The Dark Ages.
Ultimately I’m looking for something that can smoothly run modern games at medium settings.
Do you see any issues with this build? Any compatibility, space, or power issues I should worry about? Are there any parts I should consider cutting back on cost?
Some other notes on specific parts:
GPU - I thought about “settling” for the 4060 since I might end streaming lots of games to another device, where 4k won’t be as crucial. But I landed on the 4070 since it seemed worth the additional cost.
MOBO - This might be where I could use the most advice. I have no idea what to pick here. I thought this one seemed good based on price, features, and reviews.
Storage - 1tb seems low but I already have a 2tb Samsung 980 I can migrate from my old rig. Figure the 990 can be where I install games and OS.
OS - I figured start with free windows 10 and upgrade when 11 goes on sale, or get a free update if they force it down the line. Is that a thing? Does windows ever go on sale? I never pay attention to these things.
Case - I’m open to recommendations. I want a “boring”, stealthy, low profile, opaque black box. No windows. No lights. Some front USB ports would be nice.
Misc. - My biggest peeve with my old build is how unpleasant it is to install things. Parts are very tightly packed, cable management is a mess, the heat sink pins are a pain to deal with and come right up against the RAM. I would prefer that this new build has more room for everything to breathe.

Everyone starts a nonprofit now, including people at my insanely competitive high school who just create an Instagram page, make a cabinet introduction post, and let it rot.
But I did stuff with mine, raising thousands to donate computers, teaching classes I organized myself, etc. I didn't do it just for college, but man is an AO going to look at that, scoff in disbelief, and immediately throw my application out? This EC was super important to me, and I want to list it, but I'm afraid it won't work out in my favor because AOs know that so many people fake things, ESPECIALLY NONPROFITS. How do I prove that it wasn't fake?
Sorry for the rant; it's frustrating, but any advice is appreciated, especially if you've already found in yourself in a similar case. thanks :)

I have a bit of a question. In Paperclip, a big plot point is that Skinner can’t copy the digital tape because The Thinker put some sort of copy protection on it, it also wouldn’t print out a hard copy. Okay.
Except in the previous episode, Scully had printed out pages from the tape and had brought them to a translator.
Is there any way of making sense of that? At the moment my headcanon is, Skinner was just really really bad at using his computer. He thinks there is some copy protection, but really he had the write protect notch on the floppy he was using and when he tried printing he selected the printer two floors up, there are actually six copies printed out up there but he’s convinced it didn’t work.

I dont have much experience playing toplane since it's my third role behind jungle and adc and I'm level 70, but I play in a 5 stack as a toplaner. I feel like I'm pretty good but when I played against our coach who is a support main he flamed horizoned(in like 15/16 minutes) me two games in a row. What wave manage advice to you guys have when it feels like you can't fight the enemy.
