Hi, so I'm a 23F and I recently started making plans to take my mom on her dream vacation. I'm just a little unsure about the trip as our relationship has been rocky over the past year.
My mom is a single mother who has worked hard to raise me, but growing up she has always been stressed, and that stress fell on me with a lot of yelling and fights. This past summer, I had a horrible fight with both my sister and my mom, and at one point I even contemplated some negative thoughts. Luckily, I was going on a long Europe trip right after so I had the space and time and I could finally find peace again. Before returning back home, I already booked my flight back to Europe for a 4-month stay because I wanted to have some time to myself and felt unsafe staying with my family.
Coming back home, I felt confident in my skills at handling everything, but sometimes my mom would yell and other times I'd feel immense anger at the things that happened to me. I don't talk anymore with my sister after she decided it was okay to yell at me when I having a panic attack and gasping for air on the floor.
Before going back to Europe, I want to treat my mom to a vacation. While trying to think of one thing to another, I landed on Dubai, a place she's always talked about visiting one day. I have enough savings to take her on the trip.
My mom has been good and bad to me. I know that she hasn't had the best life and a lot of her behaviors come from living with my abusive dad and her family. She sometimes tells me stories and I feel so bad for her, but I also feel bad for myself. As the youngest in my family, I've always had to manage and push myself to do better because I could only depend on myself. I've always been everyone's punching bag and I'm trying to disown that title. I've gotten into therapy and am trying to imagine a better life.
I want to be there for my mom. I always thought that I could take her on a trip later, but then I thought why save something for later when I can afford it now? After talking it through with her, I'm just a little scared what if things don't go right? What if we fight? What if I later regret paying for this trip? When I told my mom about the plan, she talked about all the places she'd seen on YouTube and I could tell this was something she really wanted.
Does anyone have any advice on how to repair a relationship and how I can work out this trip? I love my mom and I want to give her the world, but I also want to protect myself. I often call out to my mom when she crosses a boundary, and although at times she gets mad, at times she gets sad because she doesn't seem to realize where her anger comes from and feels like she can't do anything right.

I have purged multiple times a day for the past 45+ days and it has done a number on my health (obviously, lol). Recently there was blood in my vomit, and it scared me enough that I’m attempting to not purge for a while and I swear I’m feeling genuine withdrawal symptoms - snapping at my family, can’t sleep, I’m so anxious I can barely breathe, can’t focus, crying as I type this, and more. I’m currently in a partial inpatient program and have been for the past 2+ weeks, so I’m not without support. I guess what I’m getting at is for people who have managed to go purge free for a while after a period of extreme purging, how did you do it and did you feel such physical symptoms like these? I remember a few years ago getting a 12 pack of Xmas crackers (ones with good gifts in them) for 5 euros.
Now the cheapest I can find are 6 for 10 euros! There are some out there for 6.99 but there just full of paper things inside.
Why are they so expensive now?
