So I built a small PC gaming room for me and my wife. Nothing fancy, literally almost no RGB lights, two basic wooden desks and 2 32 inch LG ultra gear monitors. Despite my best efforts to encourage her to game with me, she only does Hulu and Netflix on the gaming rig I built her. So today I wanted to go to Best Buy because I've never seen a 49 inch monitor in person up close. I'm a very thrifty guy, because we live in Massachusetts, and money is always really tight, IYKYK. I've been planning on building a racing sim either with 3 32's or 1 49". You can literally find 32's on eBay for less than 150 a piece so I was planning around tax time to take the plunge with a budget of around $600. So we get to best buy and check out the monitors up close. For seeing a 49 in irl, I was really impressed, it does look a bit short vertically though. So as we were checking out monitors my wife fell in love with the 39" OLED ultragear. She kept going back to it over and over. For the first time in almost the 18 years we've been together I've never ever seen her get excited about any tech thing, let alone a gaming monitor. So she's like well I could finance it. All night, even though it's like a breakthrough, I've been telling her we need to hold off, because money is still tight and the winter months have crazy heating bills. So I'm excited that she actually is set on getting it, but kinda sad she's got her heart set on getting it and I got to be the adult. Anyways welcome to my tech (TED) talk.

im a current junior looking to major in psychology, but i feel like my extracurriculars are extremely general and won’t “tell a story” in a way that would strengthen my application. (most of them are geared towards music, which i dont plan to pursue but its kind of like im too deep in the rabbit hole to not do it)
heres a brief list of what i have so far and what i plan to do: 1. clarinet - participated in highest-level wind ensembles for all-state and region bands [10, 11, (12)] - member of a high school wind ensemble connected to a professional symphony orchestra (traveling+headlining a show at national theater of a foreign country this summer) [9, 10, 11, (12)]

  1. marching band
    • outstanding member award in ninth grade, school went to state championships for the first time school’s history in tenth grade, was a soloist in eleventh grade, possibly a section leader in twelfth grade
  2. paid job -teacher at a kumon learning center (~3 hours per week)
  3. volunteering -teaching music to music to kids in underserved communities with no proper music education (3 hrs per week since 9th grade) -museum volunteering (6hrs per month since 9th grade) -research team in an organization looking to spread and educate others about korean culture (~30hrs to date) -teaching clarinet (~2hrs per week since 9th grade)
  4. summer programs -summer@brown: took a trauma-focused psychology course (10th) -planning on applying for boa student leaders (not expecting to get in tho lol), notre dame leadership seminar (same here), and stanford cni-x for next summer
  5. club -foundepresident of school’s philosophy club since 9th -grew membership count from 8 to around 35 and invites guest speakers from local universities to present seminars + allows for opportunites for student-led research publication on club website
i feel like it’s kind of hard to find good extracurriculars/internships for a prospective psych major due to doing things like shadowing psychologists are not possible to hipaa and such, and i feel like the next best thing just might be cold-emailing professors for research opportunities or trying for leadership seminars. or would it make more sense to apply with a different major?
i know i dont have a lot of time left before i write my apps, but if anyone has any advice on what i can do strengthen my ec list, anything would be greatly appreciated 🙏 thanks for reading through this

I 22 F was dumped pretty much coming up to 2 months ago. To cut a long story pretty short he ended things because he said he didnt feel the same as he did in the beginning and had built up resentment due to my complaints about him not being affectionate/thoughtful/offering emotional support. We both had areas in the relationship in which we definitely couldve gone about things differently. He said he doesn't hate me and that his line is always open if I want to reach out to have a conversation.
Before we entered no contact I did say to him if he'd be open to meeting up in December to just talk everything out and have a proper conversation because the day the relationship ended emotions were running so high and we were both essentially crying and was unable to have a proper conversation. He said he would be more than happy to and I left it at that.
I admit like 2 days after this I did break the no contact to say I miss you and he said he missed me too. We basically agreed that we still need more time (obviously lol it had been two days) and then we left it at that.
Now December is approaching and honestly my mind is just constantly plagued by if this December meeting is gonna happen. I really want it to because honestly theres so much I still want to discuss cause I still don't really understand what happened it was all so abrupt. There's a lot i've reflected on too and I see where I went wrong in the relationship and I understand honestly why he built up the resentment he did, but I also understand that my feelings in the relationship were still valid.
I know everyone says as the dumpee never initiate and let the dumper make the contact but he's the type of person to be in his head and overthink a LOT so I question if he would even reach out. I used to tell myself absolutely do not contact him like no way but the more I sit and think about it I honestly don't want to have any what ifs and I dont think having this conversation would set me back in my healing, I think it would do the opposite and allow me to finally get this off my mind and have peace of mind with no more what ifs.
Lastly to say with this meeting I'm not trying to get back into a relationship with him as I feel like before that could even be a possibility 2 months isnt enough time for growth and change it would require longer for that to even be a possibility.
Please be kind this is my first post and honestly I wasnt expecting it to be this long. I have spoken to my friends and family but sometimes I like to get the input of strangers lol. This episode is maybe the juiciest character stuff one in the early part of the campaign. Molly and Beau being douches to Nott was grating, but so in character for them, and Nott's speech about Caleb and her's relationship is great.
And then Beau and Molly keep on being douches, completely blowing past this extremely touching confession. And then Fjord (my GOAT) pushes through the distrust and bad vibes and acts like a real leader and shows that he values Caleb and Nott.
This scene really reminds me of some of the best things about the Mighty Nein.

Nothing I'm about to say is, in the grand scheme of things, important.
Now that we've got that out of the way:
If there's one thing that really bugs me in fashion writing - magazine articles, social media posts, descriptions of clothing in shopping apps and online stores - it's when people describe pants as "a pant."
"Pants," like "scissors" or "binoculars" or "pliers," is a plurale tantum, or a noun which always sounds like a plural despite referring to a single item. Nobody says "please pass on my congratulation," or "I hope burglars don't break in and steal our valuable."
So no, I don't want to buy a "camel pant." That's not an item of clothing, it's something a camel does when it's thirsty.
And while I'm complaining, if I want to buy a fancy top or a nice jumper, don't tell me to "wear it back with a pant," or "pair it back with a jean." You really don't need to put the word "back" after the phrase "wear it" unless you're planning to do something unusual like wear an outfit during a long walk to somewhere and then wear the same outfit all the way "back" to the place you set out from.
