Need help blocking TikTok app traffic with Pi-hole
I've set up Pi-hole as my network's exclusive DNS server through my router and implemented regex filters to block all TikTok-related DNS queries. While my Pi-hole logs show numerous blocked requests and TikTok's web version is successfully blocked, the mobile app continues to work without any issues.
Interestingly, when monitoring Pi-hole's query log while using the TikTok app, I don't see any obvious TikTok-related DNS queries. The app seems to be bypassing my DNS blocks somehow.
Has anyone successfully blocked the TikTok mobile app using Pi-hole? What domains or regex patterns did you use? Any tips or configurations that worked for you would be greatly appreciated.
Technical details:
- Pi-hole is the only DNS server on my network
- Blocked domains show up correctly in logs
- Web version of TikTok is blocked successfully
- Mobile app continues to work normally
- No visible TikTok-related queries from the app in Pi-hole logs

My husbands temp job just ended and we were going over our finances and realized that we could actually afford for him to stay home with our 2 month old. He and I both grew up low income, with parents working all the time and not being really present with us. And when they were present, it wasnāt necessarily positive.
I am crying right now as I type this (yay for postpartum hormones) but I canāt believe that we can actually afford to have one of us stay home! We had talked about it before conceiving but now it is our reality.
I just feel very grateful and I wanted to tell someone. My parents are traditional so I donāt really feel like talking to them about it as they think my husband should be the ābreadwinner.ā But I actually like my job and itās much more important to me that my daughter is with her dad every day than my husband and I following social norms to keep my family comfortable.
I just think that this is an amazing opportunity and I donāt want it ruined yet with negative remarks from my parents so I turned to Reddit to celebrate š thanks for reading!
Edit to add: THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR THE LOVE! For real though! And for those with negative comments, thatās fine too! Your total strangers and we are never crossing paths irl so itās no biggie.
I really did not expect this to blow up as much as it did. I was up early nursing and feeling all emotional and happy and wanted to talk about it. Iām so grateful to read the comments of those who were/who were married to/and who were the kids of a stay at home dad. They made me so excited for our future.
We donāt know how long this will work for us, but for now I feel so at ease with the idea of my daughter being with her dad. He is an amazing man and I am so proud to be his wife. He will be an amazing role model for our daughter.

I play of PC and before if was running just fine. With sometimes a 1 or 2 second freeze in a match. But now it constantly freezes for a long time. The frames are dropping like crazy a lot of times during a match. I only play career mode so itās not a network issue. Does anyone else have problems with the game since the last update?

Five months since she left 3months NC and Iāve struggled every single day, Iām broken and want nothing more than to hear from her and rebuild a life with her.
I was working the other night at a bar to assist a friend and to just get myself out the house on weekends so I donāt just sit and think about who sheās with or what sheās doing.
Just as Iām going to leave she walks past just behind a group of her friends and looks right at me, Says in the softest voice a quiet hello which I think was a drunken automatic reaction, We where both extremely shocked to see each other, I broke down then and there and she rushed off to her friends to the bar next door, She then came out and started to walk off by herself obviously not been able to be in the area I was, I wanted nothing more than to be able to go after her, talk to her and hold her but I canāt, I sent a friend to check on her as she was clearly drunk and I couldnāt leave her walking away alone and upset.
Friend spoke to her then came back and said she was extremely upset but also so angry still, She was very drunk and itās just thrown me, I believe she hates me, She told me how she could never love anyone more than she could me but the anger and hate is clearly still there towards me.
I knew we where gonna see each other at some point but I think it would have been easier for me to see her with another guy than seeing her react with the sadness and anger that she had the other night. Itās set me back so much, I was never over her but now Im overthinking that her reaction shows that she hasnāt got over us yet, Sheās training herself to hate me but I guess in a drunken state the sadness appeared also.
Man I want her back, I want her to reach out more than anything in this world.
