Late 20s, torn between two sales opportunities: real estate (RE) or tech SDR—need advice on growth, stability, and potential!
I’m at a crossroads and could really use some advice on which path to take.
I’m standing between two options: 1. Tech Sales SDR (45k€ OTE): • I interviewed for this role in September but the company froze hiring. They recently reopened the position and reached out to me. • I really like the company, and while the salary isn’t huge, it’s guaranteed income, with bonuses. • It would require me to move to a new town. The role is hybrid with ~2 months of remote flexibility but still follows a 9-6 structure. • Career growth in tech sales seems promising, but I don’t know what realistic financial goals I could expect long term. 2. Real Estate (commission-only): • A former colleague recently started their own RE company and invited me to join. • No base salary, but housing is provided, so my fixed costs are low. I’d rely on savings for the first few months. • In this specific market, realtors work primarily with leads provided by the company’s marketing team—there’s little to no prospecting involved. I’d get 50% of the commission on deals. They say average earnings could be ~100k/year, but this feels overly optimistic given the competitive nature of the market. • I’ve worked in RE before (a year total). I wasn’t successful due to external factors, but I learned a lot. • The flexibility is appealing—I’d fully control my hours and be able to live between two cities.
My main concerns: 1. Money: Guaranteed vs Potential • Tech: Guaranteed income but not much beyond OTE in an SDR role. • RE: Potentially lucrative, but highly variable and dependent on deals closing. 2. Flexibility • Tech: Hybrid with some remote options but still a structured 9-6 schedule (which I’ve struggled with in the past). • RE: Fully flexible—I’d set my own schedule. 3. Career Growth • Tech: Feels like it offers more long-term growth and mobility. What’s realistic in terms of financial progression in tech sales? • RE: Seems tied to building personal networks and local market expertise, with limited scalability beyond that.
I’ve already spent about a year in RE, but with no major success (not entirely my fault). I want to make the right choice for my long-term career while balancing financial stability and flexibility.

Hi, I used to work at a startup which has now opened the "exercise window" for its stock option plan.
This company is not listed, however, the platform where the grant is being exercised is collecting tax of 39% of the fair market value of the stocks (i.e. if the current price of the stock is INR 10 and I'm receiving 10,000 stocks at an exercise price of INR 1 then (10-1) * 10,000 = 90,000 is the FMV). This amount comes to be around ~INR 35k in my case.
What will happen to this INR 35k if the company never lists and I am never able to sell my shares? It will be deposited with the govt but I'll never actually receive any benefit from it. Will I be able to claim it later? Would really appreciate any clarification:)

So one month in with the SuperTrickler FX120i combo and I have zero complaints. The auto powder learning works very well. I love that I can program and label my load presets for a given powder and overall it’s been exceedingly accurate. Overthrows past the learning phase (first 5 or so throws for a new powder preset) are very rare.
There are some small quality of life improvements that I definitely recommend. 44E Products sells an accessory kit for the super trickler that adds a powder bounce guard as well as a powder clearing stand that make getting powder out of the hopper a breeze. They also include some centering tabs that ensure the unit self centers on the scale anytime you put it back on.
Overall I’ve been very happy with the purchase and especially with the current firmware it’s been a very intuitive and self-contained powder throwing experience.

A word of hope for those living at apex/province - the Niagara Scenic Tours bus was on time or early to all 3 stops on the route (province, apex, gleason, at 9:20, 9:30, and 9:33, as posted on website/passio). If you live at Apex, you might want to aim to get to the bus stop a little early, the driver left apex at 9:28.
Huge thank you to the bus company and RIT admins that made this happen. It’s not a long term solution, but it means that it is once again faster to take the bus than to walk, and if it snows things won’t be too miserable. I hope these buses continue to operate well and on time until the other ones return.
P.S. If anyone can find a way to put a sign on the bus that says the name of the route that would be very helpful for distinguishing them at Gleason Circle

So hi, so in the beginning my boyfriend used to prove and show all by himself by sending or showing me photos of what woman contacted him. He even used to send me ss if some woman asked him something and asked me to reply to it be it even anyone from around his job. Just to mention smallest details he always told and proved visually how he has women blocked even if they cake up on his feed. He also always showed me how to the point he responded a woman in work related way. Like to the point and nothing else to make the convo go elsewhere. Also, he never used emojis and i asked him to add emojis and he replied that he does not like using emojis but he then said he only uses some of it just for me otherwise he does not. He has always been an introvert and due to his past bad relationship he literally hated even engaging with woman. All of this made my belief in him so strong as Ive been betrayed before in my prev relationship. After a year, his job switched and his manager is a woman, and she is from a different country. He never shared anything about what kind of talk he had with her ever. I asked him how's everything with her and he said fine and i asked to show and he had a whole chat with her. I understood how the manager engages with their employees. She asked how's the experience and all which is professional and the weather in his city and all. How's his week going etc. he responded all of it in a very friendly and using emojis with her. I got a little in thoughts and asked he said he never uses emojis nor he ever talked like this to any of his colleagues or manager. He said she used emojis so i repaid her the favour. I felt like even if it is so small. It made me feel this would slowly lead to something big if he's changing because i could feel. When i told him what I feel he started getting irritated and said you just want me to be out of this job whereas I only wanted him to understand what I meant.
Now it had disturbed me alot because he never acted like this ever even if i have ever been possessive before he would love it and make me feel fine. But now I asked him again because and he said he is tired of me asking this again and again and to not text him anymore. He turned his net off and I sent an sms to call him back on whatsapp and he said to not text him and will talk when he's free.
Now I stepped back totally. This alll happened today.. and I told him the way he is behaving is hurtful and he does not get what I mean and we should just maintain distance. And stop texting one another. After hearing this, he removed me from facebook (turned his status to Single), he removed me from linkedin and deleted my number. Even if he did this impulsively at the time being. It hurts. We have done this before but we were fine and then he did this.
I am sorry for anyone who read this long but I really feel i don't know.. hurt? Yeah but i don't want to be hurt or even feel teary a bit for him being this way to me.
I would like some guidance on this... anyone?

Last year, I paid an attorney 4K as a retainer for my dad. We had a family member who was up to no good and I, as POA, wanted to have an attorney “at the ready” if needed. Sadly, dad passed soon after and thankfully I never had to call on said attorney. It was a big relief knowing I had that resource though.
Question - what happens to this unused retainer? Should I be getting a refund for at least some of it? I understand paying the man something just to have him on hand. I did ask about it once, but I didn’t really hear anything back on it.
