He never married or had children. It is said he was completely chaste and in abstinence, and he had no affairs that we know of. From what I can tell, this was highly unusual for a king at the time (or ever, really. Was it ever usual to not even try to secure a heir?)
My first thought was that he was homosexual. How aware were 8th century Spaniards of homosexuality? If he had male lovers, would have they realized what they were? Was he asexual, and simply not attracted to any person at all?
But maybe I'm looking at it with modern lenses. Was Alfonso a highly religious man who viewed any form of sex (even under marriage) as sinful? Was there a political reason to his chastity and lack of marriage? Is it possible he had affairs with women that he simply hid to give himself a more 'religious' image?
I know that there's not a clear answer. But I wanted to know what's the general consensus/theory.

Hello. Navy vet here. I just got word my grandfather (Korean War vet and CWO2 lifer) passed away and I was considering dusting off my dress blues for his funeral. I've never attended a funeral in uniform before, so I was wondering what the regulations say about wearing our cover indoors, particularly when saluting is required during the playing of Taps and the folding of the United States flag? Also, is the salute for each one held until the end of the ceremony or is it a very slow descent until each ceremony is completed? I really want to give my grandfather his proper military representation. Thank you for any clarification regarding this.

2024.11.25 19:48 S1KAB0BAD1GA anyone getting sudden freezes/crashes using DLSS?
so ive been having this issue for about 2 months and ive done all the tests to check if i had hardware or software that cause crashes. from stress testing GPU and CPU to testing ram and clean reinstalls of graphics drivers. ive sent a ticket to crytek which ended up being told to google it. so far turning off DLSS has solved it though i need to do more testing to be sure. anyone have this issue? if so how did you fix it? is it possible to actually use dlss again?

Hello, we are two players (We are are 28M & 26F) looking to join a game together with characters we've already made but never had the chance to play.
About us: We are both experienced 5e DMs and players. I, 26F (Dutch) am a diligent note taker, dice obsessed and have way too much time on my hands which is mostly spend of doing anything DnD related, such as working on my own homebrew world. 28M (English) is a creative, a writer and runs his own homebrew game as well. Both of us have around 3 years of DnD experience. We are used to using Owlbear as our digital tabletop but we are open to using other programs. We both enjoy working with the DM, we like to contribute to the world when permitted and we are very consistent when it comes to showing up for games.
What we look for: We would like to join a weekly long-term character driven campaign with players that enjoy RP. We're mostly looking for just a generic medieval fantasy game but we are open to other types of games as well. Both of us are planning on playing fairly intelligent characters, so we would love a world that is rich in lore. We would prefer to play with people around our age, in their 20s or 30s and with people who can be consistent when it comes to showing up to play. We are available to play on Thursdays from 6PM to 11PM GMT.
The characters we would like to join with are:
Sigurn Grimsdottir, the Aasimar Knowledge Cleric. - A Norse inspired, wise-woman who used to live on the edge of a small village, she was practically a hermit because she was ostracised by the other villagers as she was seen as a witch. She has visions she receives from Odin about venturing out into the world for knowledge and to find an important artefact for him.
Calderon Willowmane, the High Elf Conjuration Wizard. - A 347 year old elf from a large city where only elves lived. He worked as a courtier for centuries until a bit of an accident happened which caused him to have to flee the city. He is very much new at being a Wizard and struggles to learn the art of the arcane but he is committed to his studies. He is serious and doesn't have much of a sense of humour but i hope he can learn to loosen up over the course of the campaign.
Why are we looking for a new campaign? A while ago one of our friends wanted to set up a campaign for Thursdays, we had made our characters, were very excited to play them but the game ended up never happening. Both of us had gotten attached to our characters and bonded over the fact we both had made nerds. So we both wish to join a campaign where we can play these character's together.

Hello, I bought my first iphone ever, Iphone 15. I don’t have storage anymore so I tried to transfer photos and videos to my pc (dell inspiron 2024) I transferred some of it and I’m flabbergasted : I can’t open more than 95% because this photos and videos are in a format that is not handle by my pc (.mov, .heic). I tried to open videos with VLC, MPC,Pot Player : failure. And for the photos, my pc can’t open it 😫😫
Does someone has a solution? Or do I have to change my phone to an android 😬?
