2024.11.25 22:19 British_Iron Transitions: A Star Wars Story. Visions of Days Long Since Passed
Ryn’kodanopened the hidden panel by the pilot’s seat and removed the rusted hilt Few had recovered on Geonosis. With all the reverence and respect the item deserved, they slowly walked it through the ship and into the cargo bay where Few was waiting for them. With a bow, they handed it to Few before stepping back and sitting down. Excitedly, Few ignited the blade and started waving it around. “Come on then! What are you going to teach me first? Lunges? Or parrying? No, no, I bet you’ll start with blocks!” Few was vibrating with a contagious energy that even their lightsaber seemed to be reacting to. The wide, viridian blade pulsed with power. Ryn held up their hand and turned the lightsaber off. “No.” They said calmly. “I’m afraid that is neither the first nor second lesson.” Few sat opposite them, their face like a scolded dog. “Trust me… Given how you came about your lightsaber, you’ll not want to skip these steps.” “Fine…” Few shook their head. “What’s the first step?” Ryn got up and walked over to their bunk. They came back and set down a square cloth and a slotted tray. “Before you can use a lightsaber properly, you must understand what is happening when you use it. To do that, you must dismantle it, clean it and then reassemble it.” Few’s eyes widened. “Do I have to do it like you do?” They mimed using the force. “Because I don’t think I’m ready for that.” Ryn scoffed. “You will be, in time, but for now, I think we’d better teach you how to do it manually.” They removed their own lightsaber and split it in two. “I’ll be using the force to disassemble mine because of… Well…” Ryn tried to wiggle their fingers but half didn’t seem to get the message. “But the principles remain the same.” “How are you so good at using your lightsaber with the force?” Few centred their lightsaber on the cloth and moved their tray to be neatly above it. “I had a very patient master.” Ryn sighed. “From when I first picked up my lightsaber, actually using it was a struggle. I knew exactly what I wanted it to do but I couldn’t get my hands to do it. My brain would be locked on a stance but it was as if there was a lag between it and my hands; it just didn’t work. So I devoted myself to my studies into the force and how to deepen my connection to it.” They started unscrewing their emitter cap. Few followed suit. “And I found that I didn’t have the same problem. I could feel the force and the things around me, move them and manipulate them how I wanted to with my hands but never could. I became a master builder, capable of building ships using my imagination and the force.” Ryn paused and lifted their lightsaber to be in line with Few’s eyes. “You have to be careful now as we’re going to be exposing the focussing chamber. If you’re too quick, the crystals may fall out and chip. Slow and steady.” They demonstrated. The metal sheath slid down their lightsaber’s core then off into the air beside it; three crystals remained, nestled inside the focussing chamber. They returned their sabre to their lap. “My master saw me building and realised that the traditional way wasn’t going to work for me but I might be able to master the lightsaber in a different way.” Few gently removed their ignition switch assembly and rested it in one of the tray’s slots, beside the emitter cap. The main body of the lightsaber in their hand was nothing like its exterior. Where the emitter and switch had been a rusty, almost copper colour, the inner core was a dull grey. “Is that what it’s supposed to look like?” Few pointed to the unpolished steel core. Ryn nodded. “We’re either going to need to spend a long while polishing those parts or we’re going to need to make replacements.” They paused. “We’ll be fine either way.” “What’s next?” Few bounced slightly before realising that the crystals were still exposed. “Oops.”
“Next, we remove the crystals.” Ryn smiled. “In my time, lightsabers usually had up to three crystals. That centre one, the green one, it the Kyber crystal, the heart of the lightsaber. That crystal connects your lightsaber to the force and to you. When properly attuned, you and your emotions can impact your sabre and your sabre can impact you. It is the most important part of the lightsaber.” Ryn removed their blue crystal and floated it between them. “When you’re completely in sync with your crystal, you can do amazing things.” Ryn twisted their hand and the crystal began to spin. As it did, it started transitioning, the blue brightening to yellow then to green. “Your emotions can impact the colour of your blade too. In my order, we used three primary colours of blade to distinguish between the different types of Jedi. Blue for Guardians, Yellow for Sentinels and Green for Consulars; although in this day and age, as long as it isn’t red, I think you’re alright.” They chuckled as they returned their crystal back to it’s original greyish blue. “What are the other crystals for then?” Few removed the last two stones from the chamber and held them out to Ryn. They inspected the stones. “That looks like a bit of Bondar and that…” They strained their eyes. “Is… Jenruax?” They didn’t seem sure. They double checked. “Yes, that’s definitely Bondar and Jenruax.” “And those are?” Few shrugged. “Blades focussed through Bondar produce more light when clashing with another lightsaber so can stun unsuspecting opponents and Jenruax modifies the blade’s properties to allow for more effective deflection of blaster bolts. It’ll make using your enemies weapons against them easier.” Ryn removed a Jenruax crystal from their own lightsaber. Theirs was slightly clearer and was cut in a more exact style. “I spent ages looking for the perfect crystal on the market. When I bought it, it was the size of an apple.” They smiled. “Anyway, the rest is simple. Unscrew the end cap and slide the grip down.” Few did as they were told and was finally left with a disassembled lightsaber. “Right then, your turn. I’m going to start meditating and your going to polish your lightsaber. If any of it falls apart, move on to the next section and we’ll sort it once you’re done. Just be careful with the emitter, that’s a nice lens you’ve got in there and it would be a shame if it got damaged.” Ryn took their lightsaber, reassembled it in no time at all, and then walked over to the opposite side of the room, sat down and started meditating. Few looked at the parts before them and let out a small whimper before beginning the cleaning process.
It wasn’t nearly as bad as they thought it would be. It took next to no time at all to clean off the millennia of mud and rust that had accrued; what surprised them more than anything though was how solid and stable everything felt. There were many moments as they were cleaning that they had expected the piece to crumble in their cloth but it never did. Cleaning completed, they slid the grip back on, followed by the end cap, then the crystals followed carefully by the switch and then they finished by screwing the emitter back on. They held the blade in front of them and activated it. First time. It shone even brighter than it had in the cave, rousing Ryn from their meditation. “Woah.” They blinked as their eyes adjusted to the new light source. “Excellent work!” Few shook their head. “Excellent teacher.” They deactivated their lightsaber and set it down. “What’s next?” “Now, we meditate. It’s vital to deepening your connection to the force.” Ryn smiled. “I don’t have a connection to the force though…” Few narrowed their eyes. “Everyone is connected to the force, it flows through all living beings. Some more than others obviously but that doesn’t mean it’s not present. To see you open your eyes, to hear you focus your ears and to feel the force, you must do both, open and focus your centre.” Ryn inhaled deeply. “Meditation allows us to do this.” “Okay. How do we start?” Few moved their lightsaber to one side. “Close your eyes and breathe. Just focus on your breathing. Nice and deep, nice and slow.”
Few did as they were told. A deep breath in then out. In then out. In then out. The rhythm was relaxing and soon, they felt as though they were in a universe of their own. No-one but them in a void of their own creation. As they started to focus on their void, it began to populate itself. Sterile tiles formed below them, grey walls around them and a medical bed before them. It looked just like home and that made them happy. They stood and as they did, they felt as though they were home. It smelt the same, it was the same temperature, there was a faint sound of the waves crashing against the superstructure below. Then they felt something new. There was a knock at the door. They answered it to find Ryn, smiling. They offered Few their hand. When they touched, it was as if their ears had popped. The sounds became more vivid, the smells, the sights; they were the whole world and the whole world was them. They felt a connection they had never before felt but there was also a lingering sadness. It wasn’t theirs but it was there. In their universe of perfection, there was something that felt a second hand sadness. Few opened their eyes.
“That was amazing.” Few was beaming. “I could feel everything.” “Good.” Ryn nodded. “Now, try and feel your lightsaber.” Few moved to grab it. “No, stay where you were. Reach out and feel it with the force.” Ryn held their hand out in front of them, Few copied. They closed their eyes and focussed. They tried to remember what it had felt like as they polished it. The smooth metal finish, the cross hatched grip and the rubber ridges, the simple switch. They searched the room in their mind. At first, nothing but then. “I think I can feel it!” They exclaimed, not opening their eyes for fear of losing it. “Then grab it.” Ryn turned their attention to Few’s lightsaber. Few imagined themselves grabbing the lightsaber and pulled it to their hand. Ryn yelped. Few’s eyes bolted open as they found not their lightsaber but Ryn’s in their hand. “Sorry.” They passed it back. “It’s fine. Try again.” Their voice was calm. Few closed their eyes and reached out once more. They found something that felt familiar, they knew it wasn’t Ryn’s lightsaber this time. They tried to pull it but instead found themselves falling. They couldn’t scream, they couldn’t react in any way, they just fell.
There was nothing and then, something or rather, someone. Ryn appeared in the void beside them followed by Master Arwen, Sapphire and the two padawan that had greeted them when they first entered the council chambers. Although both Few and Ryn had never been told their names, somehow they both knew that the padawan were called Emilith and And’Recat. They floated together in the nothingness until a planet appeared before them. War raged around it and across its surface. The group floated towards one of the ships and passed through its hull; a female Jedi stood at the front of the bridge. She gave one of the officers a subtle nod and the planet below was replaced with a blinding light. Lightning bolts of energy surged from the explosion, tearing through space itself, shaking every ship in orbit as the planet died. Once the light subsided, they could finally see what was left of the planet below and there wasn’t much to see. Rocks the size of continents floated around the planet’s shattered core; a cool feeling crossed them, a detachment unlike any other. The Jedi shook her head, another officer placed a hand on her shoulder. She shrugged it off then stormed to the aft of the ship. The bridge emptied before it ceased to exist itself. It was just them and the planet. It felt as though there was less than nothing, the planet had become like a black hole, a vacuum for living energy that was quickly sucking them in. One by one, they vanished until it was just Ryn and Few. Together, they woke up.
Gasping. They both felt as though they had been holding their breath for an eternity. Blinking, their eyes adjusted back to the relatively dim lighting in The Ranger’s bunks. Neither of them spoke; they just tried to recover. In the distance, they could hear people calling their names but, they didn’t respond. Their minds still reeling from the pain, the destruction they had just witnessed. Slowly, they rose from the floor. They stood, looking at one another; it felt as though it was the first time. Ryn pulled Few’s sabre from the floor and hid it in their robes. “Now’s not the time.” Ryn nodded to Few. They rested a hand on Few’s shoulder. A spark of energy arced between them. “I think they’re looking for us…” “Better go see why.” Few took the words out of Ryn’s mouth.
They got a tremendous sense of deja-vu as they exited down The Ranger’s landing ramp to be greeted again by a less than impressed Master Windu. He shook his head. “We’ve been searching for you two for the last half an hour. Why weren’t you in your quarters?” “I didn’t realise we were prisoners.” Ryn’kodan’s face was stoic and serious as they advanced on Master Windu. “We should have responded when you first called, yes, but we were deep in meditation. You have my apologies.” Few initially wanted to shrink away but found themselves suddenly emboldened. “Ryn was teaching me about meditation and we didn’t hear your calls. Sorry sir, it won’t happen again.” “I have been asked to oversee the restock of this ship and to ensure its crew are fighting fit. You two are to take your… Vessel…” There was much disdain in his voice when talking about The Ranger. “Down to the temple to deliver your findings. I will meet up with you once my task is complete.” Ryn’kodan and Few nodded then returned up the ramp and sat in their chairs in the cockpit. Taking care not to hit any of the clones who were going about their duties as they took off and departed from the Venator.
As they took their first steps into the temple, something immediately felt different. There was a feeling in the air. Few couldn’t quite express what it was but as soon as Ryn started focussing on it, they both knew exactly what it was; a tentative curiosity lingered apparently unnoticed by the majority of the temple’s occupants. Together, they followed the feeling, first with their minds and then with their feet as they ventured through the temple in search of its origin. Completely disregarding their initial mission, they passed by the council chambers and continued until they reached The Archives doors. Behind them, hundreds of Jedi but only four were of any significance to Ryn and Few. The feeling that had led them there terminated with those four Jedi who were all stood together around a terminal. Master Arwen scoured the planetary archives. “It didn’t have any moons I don’t think.” Sapphire added. Arwen tapped at the monitor. “Narrows it down.” “Those ships looked pretty retro. Could have been a while ago.” Emilith said. Again, Arwen added to the parameters. “Okay, that helps.” “They were Republic ships… From when I’m from.” Ryn’kodan started. “And the others were Mandalorian. I’d say that was later on into the war than when I left.” The group looked at them, surprised. “What did you say?” “They were Republic cruisers and Mandalorian fighters… From when I’m from.” Ryn’kodan shrugged. The group stared at them. “You saw the vision too?” Ryn’kodan and Few nodded. “And we’re assuming you did too.” “Do you know what planet that was then?” Arwen looked expectantly at them. “I wasn’t there for that bit, but the planet did look familiar.” Ryn’kodan cast their mind back. “I think it began with an M… Not Mandalore but it sounds similar…” They tapped their hand against their cheek. “Malachor!” Emilith exclaimed in glee. She pushed her way to the terminal and brought up the record. The shattered planet appeared on the terminal screen. “Malachor Five to be exact. I remember reading about it while I was studying.” Arwen scanned the page, her eyes grew wider as she did. “Oh my.” The others caught up quickly. Ryn’kodan accessed the page on the terminal opposite. “Malachor Five saw the beginning of the end of the Mandalorian Wars. By the order of the Jedi General Meetra Surik.” They smiled. “I’ve heard of her. The super weapon known as the Mass Shadow Generator was deployed to devastating effect.” “What’s one of those?” Few moved in closer to look at Ryn’kodan’s screen. Ryn’kodan remained silent for a moment. “We heard a lot of stories tending to those affected by the war. Most were true but the one we didn’t want to be was about that weapon. There were so many rumours that it became almost mythical. The ultimate weapon, something that could kill everything in sight with just the push of a button.” Ryn’kodan lowered their head. “Turns out they were true.” “Malachor Five is a restricted planet. No-one’s allowed to go there. The last recorded data we have from the system is from five years after the war.” Arwen started reading the report. “The staggering and incalculable loss of life has led to the formation of a schism in the force itself.” “Just like on Geonosis.” Few blurted out before covering their mouth. “What?” Sapphire exclaimed. Few gave Ryn’kodan a guilty look. After they nodded, Few explained. “I found a Holocron on Geonosis after I fell into a cave while trying to get the data from Ryn’s ship.” They paused. “Where did it go actually?” Ryn’kodan retrieved the Holocron from their robes and handed it to Arwen. “It’s from about twenty five years after Malachor.” Arwen and the others listened to the recording. “We need to take this to the council.” Arwen clutched the Holocron tighter. “Now.”
Arwen dragged them to the council chambers, interrupting one of the members mid conversation. “I’m sorry Master Ash but we need to talk to Master Yoda immediately.” Master Ash couldn’t quite believe the audacity of the group of Jedi before him. He sat back and shook his head. “By all means.” He did nothing to mask his annoyance. “Thank you.” Arwen nodded. “Master Yoda, while on their mission to Geonosis, Few and Ryn’kodan found this Holocron detailing a Jedi excursion to investigate a disturbance in the force. I believe that disturbance was the same one that brought Ryn’kodan to us. I also have reason to believe that there are more of these Force schisms that require urgent investigation.” “Discuss this we must. Pursue it you will.” Yoda began. “Strange presence I am sensing.” He turned to Few and Ryn’kodan. “Between you a bond there is.” “Yes.” Ryn’kodan looked to the group, confused. “We all saw the same vision… I assume at the same time.” “A vision of what?” Master Ash stood forward. “The destruction of Malachor V.” Ryn’kodan responded. The room fell silent. It stayed that way as all eyes fell to Yoda. “Time to consider I need. Return shortly I will.” As he left, most of the other Masters left with him. Few, Ryn’kodan, Emilith, Arwen, Sapphire and And’Recat stood waiting, Master Ash didn’t engage them further, he just stood there with them, in silence. Eventually, the council returned. “Settled it is.” Master Yoda took his seat. “Wider problem this will become if not properly investigated. Master Arwen a group you will lead. Understand the meanings of these visions you will. Prove useful the wayward Knight should.” Yoda nodded to Ryn’kodan. “Your mission you have, up to you where to begin.”

I’m someone who is very new to all this and am just asking based on random inquiry rather than a pursuit in this field. I’m assuming the above organizations are all the same. A question I have is how this organization functions, in terms of STOs and ambassadors and troupes (and, further, how troupes get their numbers and how they’re distinct to a theatre class)?

8 month old baby has weird sleep habits
My 8 month old has always slept at a weird time. I know his cricadian rhythm is messed up. But how do I fix it? It has effected me and my husband so much. I've had to literally "sleep when the baby sleeps" or else I don't sleep. His current routine is as follows:
Wake up 2pm Breastfeed Solids First nap 4pm-4:45pm Breastfeed Solids Second nap 6:30-7:15pm Breastfeed Solids Bedtime 12am
Now he sleeps from 12am to 2am and is awake from 2am to 4am. After 4am he sleeps until 1 or 2pm the next day. He wakes up 3 times to be fed in the night.
It has been this way for the past few weeks. Its not always been this way but I'm not sure how to fix it.
I want to be able to wake up at 6am and put him to bed at 6pm the way I see others routines online. I am aware of the standard routine for an 8 month old with the wake windows 3/3/4. But how do I do this? I don't want a drastic change too quick because I know thats not a good idea.
Also he used to wake up way more than 3 times a night until recently when I decided to increase his solid intake. Now he gets at least one 5h stretch at night before waking up a few times.
Basically Im looking for tips to increase the stretch even more and adjust his routine so that we can actually be awake in the day. I guess what I really need help with is how i can implement a routine? How do I make him sleep at a certain time for a certain time period? And wake up at 6am eventually? And how long will this take? Im so desperate for a real routine?

2024.11.25 22:19 elisamaldy Marty doing questionable moves this season?
I like Marty but lately it seems to me that he doesn't know what he's doing (I don't neccessarily mean it in a bad way). Based on how the team is playing I understand it but still.
Firstly, he replaced Slaf on the first line (while Slaf was a PPG player) with Dach when Dach was playing horribly and was the worst player on the team. He actually played more games with Suzi and Cole than Slaf with them this season.
Marty gave Dach all the opportunities in the world but he still wasn't able to do anything with it.
So now I think Marty punishes Slaf for everything (deservingly) because giving free chances didn't work on Dach. (This is maybe just my impression but to me it looks like Slaf is kinda playing with fear or scared to be creative or try something new.)
Then there are players who perform and try their best every night (for example Gally) but then guys like Newhook get promoted.
I would like to see the hard-working player get promoted (temporarily) rather than a player who sucks just as much as the demoted one. Because now it's not even a real message.
Also I know it's easy to say now but Marty probably should have had this attitude from the beggining of the season and not give free chances to Dach over and over again. Because now it kinda seems Marty has favorites (I know it's not the case but if I were a player I would get mixed signals from this whole situation).
I'm just getting weird vibes. I think Marty is a great coach and I strongly believe he should stay here for a long time but I think he himself is a big part why this team is playing badly right now.

2024.11.25 22:19 gyaszfaszom Vállfájdalom
Sziasztok!
