So Iām looking to lat move for my reenlistment but Iām trying to figure out what would be more beneficial for when I get out! Iāve heard EOD is fun and small community with a top secret (downside is that itās a 6 year contract with a bonus).
I also heard counter intel (5 year contract) will definitely open doors to three letter agencies (also has a TS) and has a lot of beneficial knowledge.

I am planning to attend UC Irvine in Fall 2025 for mechanical engineering since I submitted a TAG application. I am worried that I will not be able to graduate in 2 years when I get there though since I have to take MAE 91 and 130A which are sophomore level classes that are offered in spring quarter and I am supposed to be in Junior standing. I was wondering if these courses are offered in the fall and if I would be able to take the next set of courses in the winter quarter?

I already asked this on ChineseLanguage and they seemed to lean me in the direction of Chinese but I want to ask here too.
I'm studying Politics, International Studies, and Economics at uni, and I'd potentially like to get into diplomacy, international trade, stuff like that. I want to do a language diploma alongside my degree, and I'm really conflicted between choosing Chinese or Japanese.
The case for Japanese: Iām pretty fond of Japanese 'stuff' (think anime, music, fashion, food, etc), and what you could call Japanās āsoft powerā exports. For a lack of a better saying, I'm more aesthetically attracted to Japan and its language. I'm also more into the idea of studying or spending time abroad there. Despite this, this could also be a fleeting feeling, so I can't be certain.
The case for Chinese: The social aspect of learning a language is pretty important, and thereās A LOT more Chinese people where I live (Melbourne), that includes international students and immigrants. This means there's a lot more people to communicate and engage with locally. Iām also more interested in Chinaās politics and history, especially since diplomatic relations with China are so important at the moment, and will be in the future.
Basically, Japanese might be something I enjoy studying on a more personal level, but have a harder time engaging with at uni and locally, especially compared with Chinese. I feel this could discourage me a little, especially since I'm hearing a lot more Chinese being spoken around me. But then again, if I pick Chinese, maybe I'll feel that I missing out on something, that whilst more niche, is more interesting to me. I don't know.
Any advice would be great. I'm kinda overthinking this a lot. Thanks.

I've recently moved to a house. My energy meter is inside a locked box on the side of the house. It is not a smart meter. How does it get read by the energy company?
A few times, I actually opened it, took photos, and sent readings to them via the app. But in the latest bill, it says that they did an actual reading. Do they have a key?
