Hi everyone,
I’ve been struggling with severe insomnia for a long time. It’s gotten so bad that I’ve gone days without sleep—once, it was 10 days straight. Recently, I consulted a psychiatrist, who suggested screen time might be a factor. While I appreciated the insight, I was so relieved they didn’t just tell me to “exercise more” or try other generic solutions, which haven’t worked for me.
Over the years, I’ve tried every natural remedy you can think of—relaxation techniques, teas, supplements, better sleep hygiene—but nothing has really worked. Now, I’ve started taking melatonin tablets. Unfortunately, on day one, they didn’t help; I still couldn’t sleep.
There have been nights so desperate that I’d roam from drugstore to drugstore, asking for anything that could help me sleep. But, as you might expect, people don’t hand out prescription meds just like that, so I always came back empty-handed.
Finding this community has been both heartbreaking and comforting. It’s sad to see so many of us going through this, but it’s also reassuring to know I’m not alone. I feel for every single one of you because I know how hard this is.
Please don’t give up. Keep consulting professionals, keep searching for solutions, and let’s support each other here. Hopefully, together, we can find some relief.

For a little bit of background I am a senior in high school and throughout my high school career I’ve realized I am pretty lonely. So when I was in elementary and middle school I had a lot of friends who I felt like I had good relationships with, however, once we got to high school it was like I turned invisible to them or never new them. I stopped getting invited to things and realized that they weren’t really my friends. I became extremely sad during these times and even collected numerous pictures from snap maps or posts of them having great times without me. I learned to push down these emotions and just go in with my life, but if you are in high school or went to high school you know that people already have groups so it’s hard to join a group. I found like 2-3 people that I play video games with sometimes but don’t really have a deep relationship with. Recently they haven’t been talking to me as much and I got that feeling of loneliness again. I feel like there is something wrong with me and I just want to graduate high school already so I can have a fresh start in college. I also will bring up that Ive never been in a relationship and feel that I am very ugly because of this on top on my loneliness and sometimes think I’m lonely because other people are repulsed by my looks to even talk to me. I’ve found security in listening to music but it can only do so much. Sorry this is really long…

I dont know whats going on, for the past 2 days, the site keeps crashing after doing the most simple things. I use it daily and this has never happened to me. Before he brings about the Annihilation Tournament, before even having his first formal Kengan match, Tokita Ohma fights and defeats two men. The first, Shigeru Komada the Deva King, we have already discussed. Now, we shall speak of the second man we see Ohma face down in battle, the Russian Reaper, Ivan Karaev.
Ivan is, in many ways, the opposite of his Yakuza counterpart. Komada was a musclebound juggernaut of a man, a giant who towered over even Ohma himself, a presence so intimidating no normal man would ever dream to think of fighting him. Karaev, on the other hand, is comparatively unassuming. He's visibly smaller and lighter than Ohma, and isn't even all that visibly muscular thanks to the hoodie he wears. Physically, you'd likely think nothing of him.
Ohma knows better, of course.
He sees the feel about this man--he's a fighter. A kickboxer from Russia, as Yamashita so helpfully yells. This is something we haven't seen yet in the series. Ohma and Komada were pure underground fighters, a homeless combat junkie and a yakuza thug. Ivan, on the other hand, is a public fighter, a man the entire world knows and respects the strength of. Ironically, in this scene he's acting more like a thug than Komada, having come to cripple a rival company's affiliated fighter before their Kengan match even formally begins.
And when he does fight Ohma, we see the hype is deserved. Komada's punches were solid and strong, each flying in like a wrecking ball of destructions, but Ivan's strikes are a BLUR. His movements are extremely fast and minimal, a far cry from the Deva King's merely competent technique. Indeed, it's worth noting that in many ways Kengan Ashura depicts this far-smaller man as an equal to Komada when it comes to fighting. Both fare similarly well when facing down Katsumasa's Electric Guardians, meaning both stand slightly above low-end and average Kengan fighters.
Indeed, he even gets his own little finisher. The Reaper's Sickle is the first of many dedicated finishing moves, a precursor for far scarier things to come. Certainly, it's been overshadowed by many other scarier moves. But, as Narushima Joji said, ultimately most fighters' finishing moves are a single basic strike.
No, Ivan's threat is very different from Komada's. Here Ohma is challenged not by brute strength and street-smart resourcefulness, but the technical prowess and raw speed of a true professional fighter. So how does he do, when faced with a true professional?
Oh, come on. You already know the answer.
Ivan Karaev was never going to win this fight. From his accomplishments being shouted out by Yamashita before the fight, to the clearly far more dangerous second man he entered with, he was doomed. And of course, he loses in spectacular fashion--a kick to the balls, followed by Rihito slashing his throat. It makes what Ohma did to Komada seem downright tame by comparison.
Ivan's weaknesses are in many ways the same as Komada's. He's irritable, he relies too much on his high-kick finisher, he leaves himself open to counterattack. And, crucially, he is still an ordinary man with ordinary desires, who happily returns to a simple menial life after his defeat.
Which isn't to say that Karaev represents the exact thing Komada does. While Komada represents the impossibility of overcoming an ordinary life, Ivan is the gatekeeper to entering the world of the "Strong." And to overcome him, you have to fight dirty. While he defeated the dirty fighter Komada with proper martial arts techniques, Ohma defeats Ivan with a kick to the groin, banned in most styles.
Any old fighter can make it into a sport, and make money. Ivan Karaev certainly did, and did it well. But he lacked the conviction, the killer instinct of others. Kengan doesn't condemn all public fighters to be jobbers like Baki does. Kiozan, Okubo, Sekibayashi and Gaolang are given proper respect in the story, and many people acknowledge their strength.
But unlike Ivan, all of them are willing to make matches a matter of life or death. All of them hold convictions, a dream beyond fame and riches. A dream of restoring a dying art by returning to a mythical past. A human seeking to overcome the inhuman. A man whose conviction is strong enough to make even the fake become real. A sword of a mighty king, come to slay all who stand in his way. These are men who can enter the realm of true greatness.
And so, as Ivan falls to Ohma's kicks, the first true challenge awaits. He has left the realm of mere men, and now stands face to face with a Superman....
