Clark W. Griswold (Chevy Chase), described by some as “the last true family man”, has only two goals this holiday season: have a good old fashioned Christmas with his extended family and use his annual bonus to put an in-ground pool in his backyard. But, in typical Griswold family tradition, things start going wrong almost immediately. Clark, along with his wife Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo), his daughter Audrey (Juliette Lewis) and son Rusty (Johnny Galecki), have to wrestle with and endless series of Christmas mishaps including having to uproot a tree because Clark forgot the chainsaw, Clark’s relentless struggle with the Christmas lights, close quarters because of visiting in-laws and the inevitable arrival of Cousin Eddie (Randy Quaid), who just adds to the madness. As the holidays continue to unravel, Clark, in typical fashion, becomes more and more unhinged until an unwelcome surprise from his boss finally sends Yuletide right over the edge.
Let’s be honest, we’ve all had Christmases like this one on some level or another. We’ve all had to deal with the visiting relatives, the wrestling with decorations and the looming sense that Murphy’s Law would kick in at any moment. That’s probably why so many people relate to this film. We all know exactly how Clark feels having to deal with all of this. This was the last film of the Vacation series to involve Hollywood legend John Hughes (the movie was based on his short story “Christmas ‘59”) or National Lampoon magazine. Chase, D’Angelo and Quaid turned in wonderful performances as they did in previous films. Lewis and Galecki continued the tradition of having a new Audrey and Rusty for each Vacation film. Some other standouts in the cast were the wonderful William Hickey as Clark’s grumpy Uncle Lewis and Brian Doyle-Murray as Clark’s boss, Frank Shirley, plus the lovely Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the Griswolds’ yuppie neighbor Margo.

My boyfriend and I live together and we used to eat a lot together too. I gained quite a bit of weight so I started counting calories a few months ago. I’ve still been cooking every meal for him (we eat separate meals) but lately I keep snacking on all the ingredients and sometimes even binging on at least half of it. I feel terrible because 1. I binged 2. I make single-serve portions for him so now he has to eat half the amount of dinner because I couldn’t control myself.
For example, today I meal-prepped 2 bowls of curry for him since I’m going to be busy all day tomorrow and the day after. But I just binged on the entire bowl, still cold in the fridge, while he wasn’t looking. I feel so bad.
Maybe it’s because I always cook him whatever I’m craving or the food I like, but even when I make a lower calorie version of it for myself, I still binge on his food. This feels like a lost cause and I feel so bad.

I know it’s not over yet, and i know he was pretty damn abused in season 1 as well, but this is starting to feel extremely “shock factor-y” and edgy for the sake of it.
He finally managed to move forward and live a normal life after the extremely traumatic events of chapter 1, only to get fucked over by

  1. His fans
  2. His friends
  3. The people who were supposed to protect him
Literally everything he worked towards gets taken away from him. This could not be more painful to read and i seriously don’t understand how people enjoy it.
At this point we’re 183 chapters in and i binged all of them. The significant drop in quality starts with the chainsaw man cult bullshit.
We’ve long crossed the “character development” and entered makima level sadism territory.
Who was this aimed towards? Who was it written for? People who enjoy watching someone suffer to the point where they literally break a contract because they don’t want to live anymore?
The last 50 chapters were literally just a continuous downward spiral with zero payoff, and this can’t be counterbalanced by whatever comes in the next 10 or so chapters until it’s over.

TLDR: Bought something at a Retro & Vintage Shop at Salamanca Market that turned out to be brand new cheap Shein shit that they're reselling. Can't believe the market allows this.
My girlfriend and I went to Salamanca Market last weekend. Given the cost of living crisis and the fact ColesWorth are making everyone's life worse for eye watering profits, we've been trying to support local where can and we're really not into mass-produced shit. We visited a little Retro & Vintage stall claiming to have second hand knits from nanna and I ended up buying my girlfriend a Christmas themed headband thingy from them. We caught up with some mates later who are even more into sustainability than we are and one of them pointed out that the thingy looked pretty mass-produced and to be fair we probably should have worked this out from looking a bit closer. We ended up taking a photo and using Google Lens to search it only to find identical items on Ali Baba and Shein. We wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt cos Shein is known to copy things, but we searched Christmas accessories on Shein and recognised a bunch of this stalls items on there. I think most people could agree that Shein is known for shady practices like ripping off designs, not paying employees a living wage and being shit for the environment. But surely EVERYONE would agree that Shein resellers have no place at Salamanca Market. What's worse is that we looked up the Salamanca stall on Facebook and the lady who runs it is the President of the Stallholders committee for Salamanca. How is shit like this allowed to happen?! I'll be staying away now.

As the title says, I'm really looking to connect with someone that would be willing to be my mentor in investing. Someone that's been there and done it themselves. I have been scouring reddit, reading articles, watching videos, reading some books and I am slowly understanding some of the concepts, but sometimes I just need someone that can dumb things down for me so I can relate easier. If you are willing, have the time, have some tips, tricks, resources, rules of thumb you can share, I can learn. I'd like to learn how to evaluate ETFs and come up with proper strategies for my goals.
As for my goals, well...long story short (or short story long): I'm 40 years old, divorced a couple of years ago and am in the process of rebuilding. I have military retirement coming in and a full time job that pays ok. Over the last couple years, I have been able to re-allocate and re-vamp my expenses to free up resources for investing. I'm able to contribute the max amount to my employer 401k, max my Roth 401k and still have a decent amount to invest into an individual brokerage account. I'm just trying to figure out what the best strategy is for me. I'd like to retire before 60 if possible, of course the sooner the better. I'd like to have my time back and enjoy whatever might be left of my life. Spent way too many years with an ex that never supported me when I wanted to invest when we where younger just treated me like a slave (work work work) and ATM, still is by milking as much as she can out of me for support but that's another story...anyway, back on topic.
Right now I just leave my 401k alone and have it set to aggressive. In my Roth I've been considering doing mostly growth ETF(s) and a small amount of dividend ETF(s) and then taking what I have left over and putting it into a dividend ETF in a brokerage account. Again I'd like to learn from someone on how to evaluate which ETFs fit what I want to do and how to decide allocations etc. Thanks in advance and I know it might be a long shot but really hoping there might be someone out there that is willing to help me out with this.

This is kinda dumb but one thing that keeps me from recovering is lack of exercise.
I used to workout for hours on end and burn thousands of calories a day but for the last few months I’ve barley moved at all and have just binged/purged all day. Everyday. because I’ve been SO exhausted and now I’m trying to go into recovery and feel like I need to workout to an extreme again or it’s pointless and it makes me purge. I know I could just get up and workout but my body has physically given out on me and I can’t stand without seeing black and falling, so working out isn’t easy anymore yk. I have tried but my body gives out immediately which is crazy because I’m only 16 and that weak already.
I know needing to workout or I have to purge is just a disordered thought but I’m not sure how to fix that. I just feel lazy and worthless all the time and see so many people in recovery going to the gym and working out and I feel like I need to do it too.
Also, counting calories effects my recovery to because not doing it makes me feel out of control and think ‘I already messed everything up so I’ll just binge’ even if I eat a super healthy meal. It makes me think I messed up after eating unhealthy too, of course. As I’m writing this I’ve realized this may be my mind trying to subconsciously deter me away from recovery because I know apart of me is addicted to the ‘thrill’ of how sick it makes me and I know how hard recovery would be. BUT I DON’T ACTUALLY WANT TO BE SICK I HATE THIS !!! Anyway, bye. I’m not expecting any replies honestly but I want to let this out anyway in a group of people that makes me feel not so alone in this
