2024.11.26 07:51 secret_opossum Brought home a mirror from my momās and now my cat is aggressively attacking my other cat.
This might be long, thank you for any advice. Iām very anxious about this situation and donāt know what to do other than separating the cats for the time being. My gf and I have two cats: Eddie (male, around 5y) And Phoebe (female, around 8-9 m) both fixed and up to date on vaccinations, indoor only. in the time we have had the both of them theyāve never fought and love on one another constantly.
I brought home a mirror for a vanity from my momās house. My mom has four cats, three of which I saw rolling around on said mirror before I left with it. (i donāt know why I didnāt even consider this could cause an issue with my kitties ) This is the only change to the house that I can think of that would suddenly cause their aggression.
I had no idea my gf brought the mirror inside before we left for the gym. When we got home, we were immediately stunned to see our cats next to the table (where the mirror was sitting) screaming, puffed up, hissing, growling, all of the scary aggressive cat signs.
I was able to shoo Phoebe into our bedroom (we live in a small 1 bedroom apartment so itās hard to keep them seperated) where she growled and yelled for a few minutes. We went in there and she immediately calmed down and rubbed against us. Sheās shown no signs of aggression with us (besides hissing at my gf when she walked past her) . Phoebe has never ever been aggressive, sheās never hissed until today. I have never seen or heard her act so aggressive and loud. Sheās definitely the aggressor in this situation.
After an hour or two we let them sniff eachother through the door, to which they ended up rubbing heads and phoebe literally found a way to stand on top of him and look around. No hissing, growling, puffing tailsā¦ until eddie walked in the direction of the table, once he got about 5 feet away, she began screaming and hissing again. Weāve had them separated since.
Itās like she recognizes his scent up close, but then once heās farther away she forgets heās the same cat. Shes going to sleep in our room with us, as sheās the type of cat that canāt handle being in a room alone (unfortunately also the type to wake you up a million times a night)
Is this normal/fixable? Could the scent of my momās cats on the mirror really caused this? Should I be worried that phoebe will attack us in our sleep, or is this a cat vs cat only kind of thing? Health wise theyāre both acting normal, unfortunately weāre already in debt with vet bills so we canāt take them in to be seen right now. Eddie just had a checkup last month and had a clean bill of health besides his asthma.

I know the internet canāt tell and only a doctor will. But we are these group of women whose bodies are changing and maybe some of you have something to share.
I started feeling itchy about a month ago. New itch. It started with itchy head. The one day it became unbearable to wear a necklace. My neck skin really felt burnt. Now Iām getting itchy neck. All of my neck is itchy. Not constantly but several times. No dandruff, no rash. I get redness from scratching.
My forearms are also itchy. Especially the right one. Small hive like rash appears and then disappears.
I have an appointment coming up for this but Iāve wondered if this could be a thyroid issue, may be diabetes? Kidney or liver? Or more serious like lymphoma? I donāt know. This is just bizarre.
My period is fine and my hormones looked fine other than TSH on the lower side but my face and body has gone through changes very consistent with perimenopause. Iām 40. Soon to be 41.
Does anyone know what causes it? Iāve seen a few posts on feeling itchy. Anything that got rid of it?

Anyone got any clever ideas on how to attach crampons to the outside of a bag? I was looking at the grivel bags but they only have one loop which I feel is loose friendly. I've wrapped them in the 'laces' and carabinered them to the front before but it seems a bit dangerous. I have the osprey talon 24 for reference - no space inside with all my extra hats.

My only previous experience of clairudience was a few years back where I felt like I was hearing my grandads voice shortly before he died. It carried on for a few days/weeks after his death and I had read somewhere that sometimes people can have auditory hallucinations as part of grief so assumed it could be that.
Fast forward to two months ago. I was out of the house and heard my dead grandmother's voice tell me that my cat would die (she was old, but in good spirits) and I would get pregnant (I'd been trying unsuccessfully since the beginning of the year). I'm not sure why there was supposed to be a link between both things.
A few weeks later, I came home to a suddenly very sick cat. The vet said (and it was very obvious) that she was in a lot of pain and it was clear that she was not going to make it, so we put her to sleep to stop her suffering.
Fast forward a week and later and I heard a woman's voice call out their own name. I understood this to be my baby, but I was not pregnant yet and didn't think it would be possible to become pregnant that month due to timing.
A week later, I found out I was pregnant. I found the timing slightly bizarre due to the premonition and considering I didn't think I could get pregnant that month.
Now to the part which was not predicted, which makes me find the rest of it confusing. Two weeks after the positive test I found out it was ectopic and had to have an operation to end the pregnancy.
I don't know whether the message had been from my grandmother, the universe, my subconscious, or if it was a daydream and a huge coincidence, but it feels bizarre that my baby would be predicted only to then be taken away.
Not sure why Im posting, but I would appreciate your comments and insights on any aspect of what happened as I'm just trying to make sense of it.
