2024.11.26 08:40 Kalistri Passive tree background colours

Hi, this is just a thought that I've had recently for the sake of clarity regarding the passive tree (this is the kind of suggestion that may also work for PoE 1 btw). I've started describing the passive skill tree as 6 passive trees all in one, does everyone think that's a fair assessment? It's like you have your class's passive skill tree ahead of you when you start, and then you can path off to the side into the trees of other classes.
I've been thinking about Jonathan's previous discussion of ideas they've had regarding how to introduce the passive tree, with many ideas like hiding part of it until later being vetoed for reasons that seem pretty solid to me, but it's occurred to me that one idea that I don't think I heard was vetoed is background colouring/imagery, to emphasize the overal theme of int to the north, str to the south west, dex to the south east, and mixtures of those in between.
(Hmm, blue-red is obviously purple... blue-green is teal, might be a bit subtle... green red? Maybe you don't need to mix the main colours for the mixed-stat classes, just use a different colour. Idk colour theory intimately, imagery is a different can of beans... really an artist is going to be figuring these things out I guess.)
Might be a good way of presenting the passive tree in a way that is a bit easier to digest without really detracting from its overall grandeur; maybe something to experiment with.

Polish aviator here, i began wondering why when i gone for a trip over central Poland to sea border the landscape was correctly made, only on sea some towns like Świnoujście wasnt properly recreated, but i understand that as nothing is perfect, but question is that when i gone to Sudety mountains and most importantly to Śnieżka mountain everything looked unrecognizable to reality, mountains seemed too low of altitude and i couldnt see where i am this way even tho i am quite expert of that area. I dont know about other mountains like Tatry or Bieszczady but Sudety simply not looked good. Will that improve someday ? Or is it the final mapped version?

A flawless, always-do-the-right-thing hero makes for a rather dull story. Give your characters some baggage to unpack, some questionable decisions in their past, a healthy dose of selfishness or a pinch of cowardice. These are the cracks where the light of redemption gets in, the flaws that make them relatable…and infinitely more interesting.
Commandment #12: Your Villain Is the Hero of Their Own Story
Nobody twirls their mustache and cackles, "Mwahaha, I am evil!" A truly compelling villain genuinely believes they're the good guy. Give them a motivation that the reader can almost understand, a twisted logic that justifies their actions. This makes them far more chilling and harder to defeat.
Commandment #13: Minor Characters Matter (No Cardboard Cutouts Allowed)
Even the grumpy barista who serves your protagonist a double-shot of reality can have a spark of personality. A unique detail, a snappy line, a hidden backstory hinted at in a single gesture – this brings your fictional world to life. Remember, everyone is the star of their own narrative.
Commandment #14: Dialogue Is Not Just Talking Heads
Dialogue is a weapon, a seduction, a tool for revelation. It should reflect your characters' personalities, reveal their hidden motives, and advance the plot all at once. Make your characters' voices as distinct as their fingerprints. Study how people really talk – the pauses, interruptions, the unspoken words lingering between the lines.
Commandment #15: Actions Speak Louder Than Internal Monologues

Commandment #19: If It Doesn't Affect the Plot, Chop It
You may have created the most intricate political system in the galaxy, but if it doesn't directly impact your protagonist's struggle, it needs to be edited down. Remember, world-building needs to serve the story, not overshadow it.
Commandment #20: Research Is Your Secret Weapon

I always start relationships when I'm manic and I feel like the true love of my life I will meet when I am consistently stable and sober completely.
That doesn't mean that the men I was in relationships with I didn't love, it just means it wasn't healthy love and my distorted manic mind convinced me that I could fix them or falling in love with their potential.
I'm 24 years old, and I have a partner that I love deeply but I feel may not be, my forever partner. And it just keeps down to small but very important things. Small things are big things to me. And this is not just insignificant things. These are things like, the way he treats others, not prioritizing mental health, continuing to feed into addictions.... I am not one to judge, I have faced many challenges and adversity, but now that I am on a journey of trying to be stable and push to adopting a career through education. With being bipolar I need someone who is extremely stable and can really encourage me to continue to stay strong, consistent, and do great things.
Bipolar 2, I feel like I get easily triggered back into mania but I just hit a certain point.
Where money, a guy, change of lifestyle or even change of location, couldn't pull me out of mania anymore
And that's when I knew I truly wanted more for my life
