Hello everyone, I'm trying to pick a laptop between these two options. A cool shop near me sells two refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad machines, both with 512 SSD hard drive, Intel core i5 (1135G7)
The first one is a T14 (3rd gen, so 2022), with innate 16gb ram, for 600€
The second one is an E14 (2nd gen, so 2021), with 16 gb ram, for 500€
The second has a native 8gb ram but the shopkeeper offered to replace the ram stick with a 16gb ram free of charge.
What's the better value for cost? Is it worth it to spend those extra 100 bucks to go from an E14 to a younger T14?

2024.11.26 17:40 Constant_Corner_9029 Best Value Docking system and MacBook Dock for Thermals
I just recently bought an Apple MacBook Pro 14 Inch with M4 Max and 128GB Ram. I am planning to use this as a portable and stationary work horse machine for Video Editing and 3D work. I am looking for at home solutions for a docking system. I’m here to see if you guys have any recommendations on which docking station has the best bang for your buck and the best solution for a Laptop stand. As for docking station I’m planning to use two external monitors and 2 to 3 SSD’s connected to the laptop at one time with keyboard and mouse (I have a wired mouse right now but will eventually get a bluetooth one). one thing I don’t want to do is use it in clamshell as I am a little worried about thermal throttling. I’m aware I should’ve maybe consider the 16 inch for the bigger chassis but the 14 inch, being as portable as it is, was more important for me. I did look into laptop docks with fans and the one that I had seen that it seems like a pretty solid build is one from https://svalt.com/. I just don’t think the dock itself is worth the $279 price point. Might as well attach a fan to the bottom of a stand. For WAY cheaper. I am planning to push this machine with stacks of visual effects like red giant and sapphire in after effects and in my 3-D work so I am a little worried about thermal throttling. Do you think a fan solution is over the top? Let me know what you guys think! Thank you in advance for anyone giving suggestions!

Bloodshed (2005): 8 out of 10: When I discuss no-budget horror films with my friends. (Or the voices in my head) We often sound like the Monty Python Four Yorkshiremen sketch gents trying to out-do the horrors of each other’s childhood. “Raptor Island hah I sat through San Franpyscho.” “San Franpyscho is an Academy Award picture compared to Dark Harvest 3. Now that’s cinematic pain.” So I questioned myself on why I would purposely rent such films as Heartstopper or Warriors of Terra when there are plenty of fine Hollywood productions starring Nicolas Cage such as National Treasure or The Wicker Man I could watch instead.
Okay, the recent Cage oeuvre may be a terrible example, but the question remains: why torture myself with what are other people’s home movies? Bloodshed is the answer to that question.
It is one of those rare no-budget films where the acting isn’t grating; the script is competent, and the direction is good. The film even delivers both genuine tension and characters you care about.
In terms of pacing and characters, it handily beats out most Hollywood films, let alone most Hollywood horror films. (Before you accuse me of exaggerating, please remember that every Adam Sandler comedy is considered a Hollywood film. I’m grading on a curve here, people.) Bloodshed is bragging rights, a true gem in a field of.. well, incompetent home movies.
Is the film perfect? Well, no. It is slow to start (this turns into one of its charms). The sheriff could have been played better, and the ending is pretty awful.
Overall, an excellent film and considering its genre and budget.

I'm looking to apply for firm positions in immigration and criminal (appellate) defense and public interest positions generally. I have two resumes ready to go (one for firms, the other for PI), but i'm not sure where to start on the cover letters and what's important to (or not to) emphasize in a firm cover letter. Does anyone have any resources they used and found super helpful? My law school doesn't have the best samples/resource bank. It seems like Berkeley, EJW, Yale, WashU, and Georgetown have some websites dedicated to this topic, but i find that reading through samples is most helpful for me. Would appreciate any leads!
