Hello All, I recently appered for Amazon SDE-1 interviews and here's how it went.
Brief background: I currently have 6 months of experience, and Amazon reached out to me for my interest in their recent APAC hirings. (They have been reaching out to many people.) I cleared OA having 2 coding questions and thier usual work simuation and workstyle assement.
Round - 1: Technical Round 1 (1 hr) - 6th Nov The interviewer was SDE-2. It started with my introduction, and then he introduced himself. Straightaway after this I was given the following problem.

First approach, O(N) time and O(N) space. Then he asked me to optimise it. Second approach, using two pointers, O(N) time and O(1) space. Interviewer seemed satisfied, and the interview ended after that. No LP questions.
Round - 2: Technical Round 2 (1 hr) - 7th Nov Two interviewers were there; one lady was SDE-1, and the other guy was SDE-3. It started with our introduction, and then they asked me some LP questions, like the last time you took ownership of something in your job.
Then I was given these two LeetCode problems.

The first problem was straightforward; I did it with O(N) time and O(N) space. They were asking me to do it in O(1) space, but initially they weren't mentioning that the output array is excluded from space complexity calculation. So I was a little confused for a while but eventually got it cleared and did what they asked.
The second problem was also easy; didn't take more time to realise that it was a binary search problem. I explained the approach to them and did it optimally on the first try.
Round - 3: Bar Raiser Round (1 hr) - 18th Nov The interviewer was the engineering manager. It was purely based on leadership principles, and no Leetcode problems were asked. The following questions were asked with few follow-ups on them.
- Current working role and responsibility.
- Last time you had to deep dive into a particular bug or task.
- Last time you had a conflict with a co-workemanager.
- How do you handle feedback, and when was the last time you received negative feedback?
- How do you keep yourself updated?
- The last time you learnt something that wasn't required at your job, what was your way of learning, and how much time did it take?
- Why do you want to work at Amazon?
Mostly, questions were around it, and for most of them I was prepared, and I didn't completely fumble for any of the questions, it went well and I was hopeful for positive results.
On 25th Nov, I received automated mail stating that my application is no longer under consideration, and no actual conversation with HR happened, so I'm yet to receive any feedback. The bar raiser went well, according to me, but I know rejection must have been because of that only, as my communication isn't at its very best.
Any tips on how to clear these behavioural interviews are welcome.

2024.11.26 18:13 robizzle82 Please help, MacBook & External Monitor driving me mad!!!
So I currently have a ASUS ROG SWIFT XG49V with 3 laptops plugged into it.
The two hdmi ports are plugged into two windows laptops. I had to fiddle with the display settings of these a little but eventually I got them to display next to each other in a 3 Picture by Picture set up.
I also have a Mac connected via display port which was also working quite nicely. However, all of a sudden I’m now unable to close the lid without the entire display turning off and the screen changing to one of the hdmi inputs stretched across the whole screen.
It’s driving me mad, pretty sure it’s to do with the output needing to be under 60hz but it makes no sense that it works fine with the lid of the MacBook open!!!

What is even our world really? Is it just a simulation being operated by the greys. ?
My one and only trip from 5 years ago lasted 40+ mins( it was on the peak of 2 drops of acid) I had a breakthrough and the trip was divided into 3 parts, each explaining the different levels of existence. The first level is the illusionary world that we live in. The second level is being controlled by the greys, maybe other beings as well? , did not see any apart from greys. The third level was the real consciousness of all living beings.
The greys were huge(I was like a liliput) and maybe only 3-4 in no. in a very geometry less space, where they were experimenting with a couple(2-4) of humans.
They were completely uninterested in me, I tried to get their attention to understand/talk about what was happening but only one looked at me with complete disintetest and started working on the human(male) that it was previously dissecting and re-joining.
Since this trip, I have somewhat become a bit intriqued to say the least by the greys.
Anybody had any similar experience?

Hi, new diagnosis type 2 narcolepsy today. Relieved for answers, skeptical about meds, and looking for advice. What lifestyle changes have you guys made that have helped you live your best life?
So far I've already been hunting for a part time job so I can better accommodate how much I sleep (full time just feels like all I do is work and sleep...cause it kind of is), and I follow the standard "sleep hygiene" stuff like maintaining a regular bed time and wake time, dark quiet bedroom, avoid hanging out in bed during the day. Doc told me to schedule naps in my day and I already usually nap at lunch so I plan to just start doing that routinely. Wondering what other stuff anyone has tried or implemented that was helpful, not just for reducing your sleepiness but also just for building a life that you thrive in in spite of your sleepiness.

Hi everyone,
I have Poison and a couple of the rod magnets (one of them is from ILNP and another rod magnet from Mooncat). I’m pretty dissatisfied with the result trying to get a velvet effect with these. I tried holding it to the side, and also underneath, and it barely looks like anything happened.
I know everyone recommends the 30lb magnets, but c’mon, this is the magnet that was provided for these polishes. Are the rod ones really that ineffective, or is Poison just a weak magnetic polish? Any techniques that help with using the rods, or do I really need to pick up a horseshoe magnet?

2024.11.26 18:13 ChickenFilay Hair dye lowers IQ and kills thousands of Boston residents yearly
Even though neither my son (13M) or I (43M) have dyed our hair, my wife (43F) does (since 2015 and between 2010 and 2012 when her hair 'faded' and returned to black) and same with both of my nieces (24F, since mid 2019 and 15F, since late 2020). Let me tell you a story about my 24F niece:
On July 9 2024 in Arlington VA, my Chinese niece died due to a brain aneurysm at the age of 24 directly caused by hair dye, and she was buried in Houston Texas after I requested that her grave be sent there. Her funeral was celebrated in Washington DC on July 13 and I flew all the way there to say 'farewell' to her.
My niece started Baltimore City Community College in 2018 and afterwards, University of Maryland Baltimore County in Fall 2019 after graduating from high school. She has lived in America since 2014 independently as she went to high school in Northern New Jersey as an international student. Her parents are definitely not controlling and they do accept hair dye. However, she told both me and her parents many times that she is totally uninterested in ever dying her hair and wanted to keep her hair black and dress up nicely outside. However, in October of 2019, she was hanging out with some Chinese international student girls her age at University of Maryland Baltimore County and at their home, they coerced her into dying her hair, tying her hands and feet to a chair and then forcibly dying her hair, lying to her about them 'doing makeup' on her. She listened to them unconditionally without even thinking, and therefore, she dyed her hair brown in summer 2019. Even though it did eventually 'fade' in 2021, she was coerced into dying her hair once again, and this time, her friends don't wanna see any roots, which meant she had to continually dye her hair reddish brown after going black in mid-2021. Her decision making used to be quite good, but after dying her hair, even though her grades remained A/A- during college with her graduating summa cum laude (3.9) at UMD Baltimore in 2022, her decision making went downhill since then. However, she has received at least one notice from her college for academic plagiarism and cheating during her time with dyed hair.
After dying her hair, prior to the pandemic, she already had mental issues (prior to dying her hair, she never went that much mentally insane), and she was institutionalized in December of 2019. Things took a worse turn during the pandemic, as she was thinking of going to Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia due to low COVID cases in these countries and due to the fact America has tons of cases, despite the fact she is Chinese. Turned out she didn't even think about the quarantine requirements (ended up staying for 2 weeks in December 2020, just as vaccine dates are announced in America, in a squalor 'quarantine camp' with hard bunk beds and barbed wire kinda like a prison) and her student visa expired in January (however, my niece did eventually get a green card last year), so she was stuck in SE Asia and had to deal with the Verocell vaccine as vaccines did not come out until mid-2021 in SE Asia. In fact, I even saw video footage where she was shackled with handcuffs, belly restraints, and leg irons along with regular clothing on her way to quarantine camp with other returnees to SE Asia. Also, she couldn't travel around Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia like she planned and she ironically had to deal with the delta pandemic in summer of 2021 while back in America, we enjoyed the advantages of 'reopening' of the country. At that time, she was at high risk for not being able to return to America and having to therefore, transfer to a college in SE Asia. She heavily regretted going to Asia during COVID to escape the winters and COVID. She ended up having to retake 2 shots of the pfizer vaccine during fall 2021.
In Summer 2022 (after most/all in some cases, COVID restrictions are lifted and travel is reopen), amid the Ukraine Russia conflict, she planned on travelling to Lviv (Ukraine), Warsaw, Krakow, Bratislava, Vienna, and Prague, and even though tourism is rebounding, she wasn't aware that with the war, it is dangerous to travel to Ukraine. She took the plunge anyways, stayed in Lviv for three nights, and even though luckily, she was not injured, she did not regret and instead claim that Lviv is totally safe from the war. However, Warsaw, Krakow, Bratislava, Vienna, and Prague are totally safe and had a lot of tourists as well as Ukrainian refugees during Summer 2022.
In 2022 after finishing the 'Ukraine' trip and graduating from college, she went into mental insanity and she was essentially was institutionalized for about 2 weeks at a psych ward. She was institutionalized during winter of 2019 as well about 2 months after dying her hair for going mentally wild, but before dying her hair, she was very normal. It seems like some of her brain cells started to die once she dyed her hair and that it did permanent brain damage even if she were to undo the hair dye, but she kept on continuing to dye her hair up until today just because her 'best friend' told her to.
After dying her hair, she listened to friends unconditionally, even if they are bad influences, without thinking of the consequences. Her friends basically encouraged her to start vaping (she started vaping in 2021), and make weird noises on camera and she does it. It is kind of like the fact her behavior went downhill since dying her hair and that could be associated to brain damage caused from fully dying her hair reddish brown all throughout. She basically listened to her bully (who she claims is her best friend) and even took the same internship.
In July of 2024, she was having massive brain trauma due to all the hair dye and after a night of rest, she died in her sleep after ER was called in Arlington VA. She was transferred to a hospital in Arlington where she was pronounced dead. Somehow, when I visited the coroner after my niece's death, they performed a CAT scan on her brain and found out some of her brain cells have melted due to continuous hair dying and that the hair dye directly affected her heart, vital organs, and her brain, and during the summer due to the fact her brain is literally fried, she was laying in bed, just having a normal rest, and she has suffered a brain hemorrhage as well as numerous degenerative nerve diseases, and she was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead, and an autopsy was performed immediately after, but before her funeral, hence we knew that hair dye was the culprit behind this because she has never had any heart disease, her blood pressure returned normal, she was never diagnosed with diabetes of any sort, plus, she is young and healthy, at 5'4.5 and 100 lb.

I know, I know, we never fire coaches mid season but just hear me out. If there is ever going to be a time where a coach is fired mid season under this ownership it would be after a loss to the Lions on thanksgiving. All of the rumours we have been hearing from the front office in these past few weeks indicate that Eberflus is a dead man walking. It seems like the consensus from Poles, Cunningham, Warren and George McCaskey is that there will be a new coach next season. The 10 day window following the Lions game would be the perfect part of the season to try and implement a big change. My theory is that if they do fire Flus, Thomas Brown gets promoted to interim HC so that he can get some experience in that position, as he will likely be interviewing for HC jobs during the offsesason. With that said, from what we have seen from this ownership I do not think it is a super likely scenario. Even if we get embarrassed by the lions I wouldn't give it more than a ~40% chance that they make a change.
If its going to happen during the season, it will almost certainly happen this week.
