2024.11.26 18:50 aa599 42/6.0% HbA1c down to 34/5.3%, so I think I'm now pre-pre-diabetic
I posted a couple of months ago that my checkup showed my HbA1c at 42 mmol/mol (6.0%), which is considered prediabetic in UK.
As I said I don't have any weight to lose, and can't sanely increase my exercise, and considered I didn't have an awful diet, so it was bleak.
I hoped that the red cells on board were showing freakishly high sugar because Jun/Jul/Aug is peak bike riding.
Since then I've cut out some sugar (orange juice, granola) and swapped some other carbs for protein. Nothing drastic, but making some effort.
The GP won't do another test within twelve months of the last, so today I went to ("Boots") pharmacy for a £20 HbA1c test. It took about 20mins total, involved putting a pinprick of blood in a machine for a few minutes, and reading the number off the screen.
I've seen scepticism here that "pinprick" tests are lower quality than full-syringe tests, but I'm confused whether that's because the pinprick ones tend to be home tests while the full-syringe ones are sent to a lab. Not sure where the pharmacy machine falls between those two.

I (18M) have a 3 year old relationship with a friend(18F) of mine. That may not look like a long time to you guys but these were my highschool years and I had basically no social life or skills beforehand. I learned how to be friends and how to socialize from scratch with her and a few others. So making friends at that point of my life was a big deal mentally and it still is even though I have many of them by now. I have other female friends that are pretty close to me too which are also in the same friend group so she's not the only one at that.
Anyways, she has been a lesbian for the entire time that I knew her so it was not that hard to not romantically like her despite her being extremely close to me and also objectively being the prettiest girl I've ever seen. But during this summer, she started to hint that she might also be liking men in our friend chat group which caught me somewhat offguard. A few weeks earlier she started dating a male. The pain I felt after learning about this made me instantly realize that I wasn't seeing her as just a friend anymore. In the upcoming days I thought about it and realized how badly I was in love. I don't want this. I don't know if we're compatible, I don't think she'd find me handsome and most importantly I don't want to hurt our friendship. To save you the trouble, I'll admit that if I knew that she'd have me I'd probably try my chances.
I hate the way I look and its not something I'm making up in my mind. I know that other people don't find me attractive either even though they're not as harsh as I am while talking about it. My main problem was how big my nose was and despite being reluctant beforehand, after all this happened I started looking for my options at getting a nose job. You probably guessed it but I never had a girlfriend. I flirted with a girl i liked last year but it only lasted 2 weeks and she went back to her ex even though she was the one who made the move. That's how undesirable I am. You might think that its my personality but everyone I know actually likes me a lot. Its just that no one does in a romantic way.
So with all that in mind, I want to get over her but I don't want to lose our friendship. Therefore cutting contact with her isn't the route I want to take. I welcome any thoughts you might have on the subject even if its not about what I'm asking for. All of my friends know her so I don't have anyone to talk about this with.
TL;DR: I realized that I was in love with my friend but I want to get over it. I don't think I have any chance at a relationship.

I'm located in a San Francisco Bay Area suburb. Pleasantly surprised I'll actually be receiving one now. Signed up within the first few hours it was first announced. Bought a new 55" tv a few months ago for the family room, but I guess I'll put the Telly there now. Hopefully they're really ramping up shipments and the rest of you guys who are still waiting for the notice get yours soon.

Just built a new PC - r7 7700x, rx7800xt, b650 tomahawk and crucial pro 6000, corsair rm850e
As the GPU took longer to arrive I built the rest- worked well.
Now I installed the gpu- no monitor output. Neither on the hdmi port on the card nor on the onboard hdmi port.
I took the card out - everything worked. Put the card back in, checked every connection - black screen.
The PC is running, passing the motherboards check fine (led turn off as usual) - fans, even on the gpu - turn.
I took out the cmos battery and restarted - nothing.
Monitor is from 2023, checked with TV an another HDMI- Cable - nothing.
Any input?
