Everyone knows Tommy is a mess. And there have been many attempts to "fix" the tracklist. I tried making my own, with a few self-imposed rules. Those being:
1: Only tracks on the original album.
2: Six songs per side, which I know is not how the original album is, but I think it's neat.
3: Sides must be under 25 minutes long.
4: Underture must end side 2.
With that said, here's my tracklist. It's not perfect, but I don't think any tracklist for this album could be. I did change the narrative a little, but I'll explain the changes I make. And I didn't have the opportunity to listen it, so it might be complete crap sonically. But anyway, here it is:
Side 1:
-Overture
-It's a Boy
-1921
-Amazing Journey
-Sparks
-Christmas
Side 1 is very good as it is, but I think Eyesight to the Blind doesn't fit at the end. The whole side is dedicated to introducing Tommy and his story, and Christmas is a very important song for that. It introduces his love for pinball, his parents' concern for him, religious themes that are important for the rest of the album, and the See Me, Feel Me motif.
Side 2:
-Tommy Can You Hear Me
-There's a Doctor
-Go to the Mirror
-Eyesight to the Blind (The Hawker)
-Acid Queen
-Underture
Opening the side with Tommy Can You Hear Me builds on Christmas. And by side 3, it's weird to ask Tommy if he can hear you. I also find it weird how late Go to the Mirror comes on the album. It introduces the mirror, a major theme in Tommy, so it could benefit from coming a little earlier. It also seems like Tommy's parents should have taken him to a doctor earlier. And finally, it introduces the Listening to You motif and reiterates the See Me, Feel Me motif, so it's good to put some distance between it and We're Not Gonna Take It. I basically tried to make this side all about Tommy's parents trying to "cure" him.
Side 3:
-Cousin Kevin
-Do You Think It's Alright?
-Fiddle About
-Pinball Wizard
-Smash the Mirror
-I'm Free
This side is very short, clocking in at 13 minutes, but let's not worry about that. I don't know if the first 3 tracks would fit very well together, but I had to fit them somewhere. And coming down from the high of Pinball Wizard to the low of Smash the Mirror might be a bit jarring, but I really couldn't place it any earlier or later. And I'm Free after Smash the Mirror is a no-brainer. It's baffling that that wasn't the original tracklist, but at least they fixed it for the movie.
Side 4:
-Miracle Cure
-Sensation
-Sally Simpson
-Welcome
-Tommy's Holiday Camp
-We're Not Gonna Take It
This one is pretty much how it goes down in the movie, and it just flows much better narratively.
Anyway, what do you guys think?

Did anyone ever feel the home closing in. The house itself is big but it's like a negative aura and i just want to get out. Also it doesn't help that parties and entertainment are regular which fills the house with people who use them

My dog has a mammary gland tumor that has grown exponentially in the last two days and the vet took a sample and while she says it’s possible it’s benign, she said it’s likely malignant and based on the location she thinks it might be an aggressive form of cancer. Our dog is a standard poodle and she’s already 12. Is surgery worth it? Does anyone have an estimate of how long dogs can live with these tumors if not removed? I’m just so worried about putting her through the stress of such a major surgery at her age 😔
