Four years out from middle fossa surgical removal of a fast growing AN. Wish I’d known then what I know now.
I was not in a good emotional/mental state when I was rushed into surgery (within six weeks). I had recently been through a housefire they displaced us, my sister’s suicide, a child in the throes of addiction, and a stepson who shot and wounded someone. All within three years of being diagnosed. I was a hot mess, yet I was the one in each situation that handled everything.
To be honest (I’m embarrassed to even admit this) I ENJOYED HAVING A REASON TO BE UNDER ANESTHESIA AND BE TAKEN CARE OF! I was longing to be sidelined and nurtured. Not gonna lie.
Because of this, I didn’t push myself to get back on my feet. I don’t know if I really wanted to get back on my feet. I went through the motions, vestibular physical therapy etc, but four years later, I can’t drive, I walk with a cane and am in a constant state of disequilibrium. I’ve since developed PPPD and vestibular migraine.
I am not going to blame myself! I know that I just had an empty tank when I went into surgery. I did the best I could with what I had at the time.
Thank you for reading my story. My advice if you’re recently diagnosed is this: don’t rush into surgery unless it’s critical. Prepare yourself! Even though some people brush this tumor aside because it’s not cancerous, it is serious. It is a BATTLE! Prep yourself.

I'm a guy in my late twenties and I am good friends with a coworker, who is also in his late twenties. So, I've been friends with him for a few years and we get along really well. We talk a lot and have hung out a few times. I had feelings for him before, about 3-4 years ago. I managed to get rid of them, through distancing myself a bit (not fully) for a few months. It worked and I was really glad to only have friendly feelings for him. Long story short, the romantic feelings ended up coming back, but they were kind of different. The first time felt like a classic crush. Butterflies in stomach, stammering, etc. The second time felt deeper but less intense, if that makes sense. I know that he'll probably only see me in a platonic way, and I'm not sure what to do. Telling him would get everything off my chest, but I don't want to make things awkward/weird since he's straight and I am not. I've tried putting myself out there for dating, hoping to find a relationship so I can slowly get rid of these feelings, but I haven't found a good match yet. I'm just tired of having these feelings and I'm totally lost on what to do about them.

So I found Just A Man months ago. I really liked it but never listened to the full thing. My friend recommended it to me yesterday, and after listening to the whole thing, I have to ask, why do people like the musical? I mean, the music is pretty solid, but the book leaves a lot to be desired. The storytelling feels ham-fisted, and the lyrics just feel really unpolished. I love musicals and Greek mythology, so I had high hopes, but it felt like watching my two favorite things collide like a train wreck.
