 | Standing on the steps of their local church, where their 38-year-old brother was shot and killed, Brandon Boyd’s siblings Tuesday demanded the Long Beach Police Department quickly release body camera video and 911 call data that could shed more light on what happened on Nov. 19. “He never imagined they (police) would slaughter him infront of the church he grew up in,” said Tyerra Boyd, Brandon’s oldest sister. “He was peaceful and in need of help,” said Tiffany Boyd, Brandon’s younger sister. “The police decided to escalate the situation by deploying a flash grenade that lead to the fatal shooting of my big brother.” In a statement, Long Beach police wrote “officers responded to a text to 9-1-1… about a man with a gun in front of a church. Upon arrival, officers located the man who stated he was the one who sent the message.” Police said they engaged with Boyd in standoff for two and a half hours, which included SWAT, a hostage negotiator and a mental health evaluation team. “After over two and a half hours of attempted de-escalation and in an effort to separate the suspect from the firearm, officers deployed less-lethal foam projectiles and a flashbang as a diversionary tactic. The suspect pointed the firearm at officers, resulting in an exchange of gunfire between officers and the suspect.” “The reality is the officers were extremely patient,” Long Beach Police Chief Wally Hebeish had said on the night of the incident. “This speaks to de-escalation, and they tried to do everything they could to resolve this situation safely.” Boyd was killed at the scene. One officer was injured and taken to local hospital where the officer was treated and released. The Boyd family said the mental health resources who were dispatched to the scene were not actually used to de-escalate the situation. “(The) trained mental health professionals were on the scene but never engaged my brother,” said Tiffany Boyd. The family said they pleaded with police to let them talk to Boyd to help. Instead after the shooting, two sisters and a cousin were arrested. “Three subjects entered the crime scene and refused to comply with officers’ commands to exit the scene. Two subjects were arrested for obstructing of a police officer, and an additional subject was arrested for obstructing a police officer and battery on a police officer,” said the police department's statement, The family demanded those charges be dropped and the officers involved in the shooting be charged. “A multi-level review of this incident is ongoing,” said the the police department. "The LBPD anticipates releasing body-worn camera footage from the incident in the near future. Hi everyone,
Recently, my neighbor and I built a new fence between our properties and we share the cost for it. My neighbor's land is at a much lower ground level than mine. The front of the new fence faces my neighbor's side. Since my property is on higher ground, there is a small gap at the bottom of the fence. My neighbor has asked me to add some sort of backing board or wall on my side of the fence to prevent soil from touching the fence palings and spilling over to his side.
I’d like to know if the cost for this should be shared, or is it my responsibility to pay for it?

Posting here for a friend who doesn’t have Reddit and is having some issues with their cat. She’s a one year old cat who was found at about 3 days old, adopted out to my friend at about 2 months old. She was raised with dogs in the house prior to my friend adopting her. In the beginning she seemed very sweet and cuddly, but after about a month, she became much less affectionate.
Currently the issue is that, during morning and evening feeding time, the cat will start to eat, ask to be pet and purr while eating, then suddenly leave the room to seek out one of the dogs to attack him. She refuses to eat without being pet and/or unless someone is sitting with her to encourage her to eat. She will also refuse to finish eating until she has gone out of her way to go attack the dog mid-meal. Her food is up on a desk that neither of the dogs can reach, so it doesn’t seem like a resource guarding issue. He’s in a completely separate room when they eat.
The dog she attacks is a small senior, doesn’t bark, poses no threat whatsoever to her and leaves her alone, so there is seemingly no reason for her to go attack him. He is very timid, submissive, and avoids her at all costs because of the way she goes after him. There is another small senior dog of the same size in the house that she doesn’t attack or go after at all.
Tonight my friend noticed what the pattern has been and shut the door so that the cat couldn’t go after the dog. The cat instead went and attacked my friend because she couldn’t get out of the room to go after the dog.
Looking for any suggestions on what could cause this behavior and/or recommendations on how to stop the behavior. She is a healthy cat who has been examined by a vet, so it doesn’t seem like a medical issue.
