2024.11.27 06:42 soundsystem00 Upgraded from stock 16 inches to 17 inch wheels and noticed a loss in gas mileage and I think acceleration. Any suggestions? Possibly tires?

Hey all! I am super happy with my wheel upgrade. I even got them installed and got the price lowered for trading in my stock 16 inch rims. The handling has improved greatly. Cornering and just turning in generally is very light and feels great. I was hitting up to 52mpg with my 16inch stock rims, in econ mode, and now I am just getting about 37. 37 is the advertised mpg, and I also think that my mpg computer is a little off now because of the upgrade. I read that adjustments are sometimes required in this area.
I really love these rims, don't get me wrong, but are they really that much heavier or am I just confused? I feel like the acceleration is different now. This is good in many ways because I don't drive as fast now, but also I was wondering if there is a tire upgrade that would solve my mpg drop? I feel like, since these are used tires, maybe an upgrade some day would improve the gas mileage back up to at least 45 highway.
To be honest, the upgrade was worth it for the deal I got. I got them installed and the tpms sensors were transferred for $300 since I traded in my old wheels. I am just wondering if anyone else has noticed a drop that large in mpg or if my trip calculator can be adjusted somehow? Also, is acceleration being affected because of the tires or is it just in my head?

2024.11.27 06:42 LRSband AC broken and way overpressured

I bought my 2004 Honda fit about 3 years ago and the guy told me the AC was a little low on gas. It blew cold but just took a while to get there. Well it's gotten worse and worse and going into summer I figured I'd better get it fixed. First thing of note is that I can't seem to tell if the compressor clutch is working. The AC button light is broken so there's no way to tell which is on/off (when it worked I used to just press it, wait, and then press it again if it wasn't on). I popped the hood and looked at all the belts around the compressor but they all seem to spin regardless of pushing the button, but the RPM does go up and down when you press it.
Anyway I figured it wasn't the end of the world if the compressor was permanently on (realistically I only need the car to last one more summer). I bought one of those CRC recharge kits, connected the hose to the low pressure valve and checked the gauge to see it shot up to 160psi!! My understanding is it should be around 35.
There's a guy in Auckland that does call out AC service, is it worth getting him to come take a look/degass the system or do I need to take it into a mechanic? Is it likely to be fixed with a degass or is there more to be done, and any guesses on how much this might cost? Thanks!

this is tagged pickup cause i’m in pickup but it’s really for anyone in any department lol. i recently made a mistake where i accidentally forgot to load in a bag that had an item in it. the item was evaporated milk, just a singular, small can; and i didn’t see it at the time, so unfortunately i only realized it was there when i was back in the pickup room doing totes. my supervisor thankfully didn’t make a big deal out of it and the issue seemed to pretty much dissolve, but it was my first “big” mistake i felt horrible!!!
i wanna hear the mistakes you guys have made, because after all, we are human and i feel those who work in customer service get so much shit for humanly mistakes.

How are gsd with huskys? for some backround, i got my baby german shepard choco (male) around October 6th and he was just a tiny baby. Now he is currently 2 months 1/2 and he is still a tiny baby. i just got a husky who is also a male and he is around 5 months on dec 1st. They get along decently well but there will be times where they play to rough. Does anybody have any input on what i should do? I was thinking to separate them until choco the gsd grows or maybe im just being paranoid. And of course, there’s the size difference. they are both the cutest tho lol. I was also thinking of buying protein filled food to feed choco so maybe he can gain more muscle?

Not buying anything too expensive just yet, vut I am trying to get a bit of variety. If anyone has a cheap spot to pick up some Trout or Salmon (I have 4 cans of the cheap Bumble Bee Smoked Coho Salmon on the way) but Trout seems to be eluding me for a relatively affordable price.

A. 3/2 ≤ x ≤ 5/2
B. 0 < x < 3/2 or x > 5/2
C. x ≤ 3/2 or x ≥ 5/2
D. 0 < x ≤ 3/2 or x ≥ 5/2
E. No solution

A student confidently declared: "Ma'am, why can't we just split it at x = 2? When x is less than 2, the expression will be negative, and when x is greater than 2, it will be positive."
I almost agreed... until something stopped me dead in my tracks.
Let's test this logic with x = 1:
· When x = 1:
· -4(1) + 8 = 4
Wait... 4 is POSITIVE? But x = 1 is less than 2... shouldn't this be negative? 🤔
Here's what makes this problem fascinating: the negative coefficient (-4) completely flips our intuition upside down. Here's why:
Nearly 80% of my students pick Choice E (No solution). Here's their typical thought process:
  1. "For x < 2: Expression must be negative" (Wrong!)
  2. "For x > 2: Expression must be positive" (Wrong again!)
  3. When they solve with these assumptions, they get contradictory results
  4. Conclusion: "No solution exists!"
Here's what makes this question genius:
With a positive coefficient (like |2x - 4|):
But with a negative coefficient (like |-4x + 8|):
  1. Find the zero point: -4x + 8 = 0 → x = 2
  2. Critical realization: For x < 2, expression is POSITIVE (not negative!)
  3. For x > 2, expression is NEGATIVE (not positive!)
  4. Solve |-4x + 8| ≥ 2 algebraically
This leads us to: 0 < x ≤ 3/2 or x ≥ 5/2 (Choice D)
When you see a negative coefficient in an absolute value inequality:
