It’s 3am and I’m tired so hopefully this makes sense
Every single mainline Dragon Quest has an idea behind it. Not just for the writing or just for the gameplay, but an idea that marries the two. For IV it’s the chapters; V is family and lineage; VI is dreams and the idea of “becoming.” Dragon Quest III develops the idea that we’re going back into the age of legends and this time it’s YOUR adventure.
This is really simple at face value, and it’s ostensibly the goal of EVERY Dragon Quest what with the silent protagonists, but DQIII handles it very elegantly in my opinion.
- The protagonist looks like “you.” If you’re a little Japanese boy in 1988 then you probably look a little bit like this#/media/File%3ADQIII_Hero_Famicom.png). Unlike the prior two main heroes, you can see 3’s hair and frame without hats or armor. This is you, homie. First time that you get to choose the hero’s gender as well (not sure if this was added in OG Famicom or Super Famicom remake)
- The party is all your own creation, if you even choose to use one.
- You’ve got parents. One of them is even ALIVE and LOVES you. You can go home and sleep in your ROOM. III’s hero feels more like just some kid than most other DQ heroes.
- The bulk of the game takes place on pseudo-earth. Most of these games have towns with irl cultural analogues but this is straight up DQ Earth. In a weird way, this is an adventure that you yourself can go on. You can go out and see Rome and Cairo and Kyoto and so on. Shit son, you can even colonize America, take that Sid Meier
- The Japanese subtitle for III is not “The Seeds of Salvation” but rather “And Into the Legend.” This is literally what happens, my guy. You the player have adventured across the real world and then your self-insert hero literally inserts himself into the legend of the first two Dragon Quest games. All the stories about Erdrick / Roto aren’t just about a predetermined prequel character that you pilot around. It’s about you, the little kid who has felt so much joy and wonder playing Dragon Quest for the past 2 years. You were the real hero all along and everyone who comes after is following your example. That must have made a lot of kids feel really special and I love that.

Hello, I started RINVOQ in November 2023 and I am was in remission ever since.
I was having mucus with stool for about a week or so.
However, today I have noticed blood with mucus after BM.
I have no diarrhea, still 1 BM per day.
Is this one occurrence just a minor thing? Or does it mean I have relapsed?
