There appears to be a concerted effort by both Chinese and Russian propagandists, to portray their respective regimes as morally superior and as allies to those fighting oppression.
This narrative is blatantly false. Both China and Russia are authoritarian states responsible for widespread human rights abuses and atrocities. China is currently perpetrating what many human rights organizations and governments have described as a genocide against the Uyghur Muslim population. Meanwhile, Russia's ongoing war has resulted in the deaths of countless innocent people and caused immense suffering.
While it is fair to critique the actions of Western nations, comparing them to the sheer scale of brutality and oppression by China and Russia is disingenuous. The crimes of these regimes stand in a category of their own.
I urge the moderators to take action against those spreading misinformation and propaganda to defend or downplay such heinous acts.

2024.11.27 15:35 ShyneGet ECE transfer student here, I didn't get in ECE29401 (Sophomore Seminar), what are my options?
As the title says, I was sent an email last semester being told that there was not any room for transfer students for the ECE29401 Sophomore Seminar, and now this semester I did not get in either.
Emailed my advisor and was basically sent a generic email back saying "preregistration does not guarantee you will get the classes you want. Join the waitlist and look for alternative classes." Obviously there are no alternatives and if I do not get in this semester I won't be able to take the other 2 seminar classes in my senior year.
Has anyone run into a similar scenario? What did you do?

I have been playing Minecraft Create Skies above. I have done every quest that is available, but have hit a dead end with needing zinc. The only way i can get zinc is by putting gravel into a sifter and having a 2% chance with a zinc mesh or a less than 1% with andesite mesh. Is there a better way to get more zinc faster.

Hi everyone, I’m in a bit of a bind and could use some advice about handling a situation with a professor I really admire.
I emailed my professor about three weeks ago to ask for a letter of recommendation for graduate school. He taught me three courses and supervised my capstone project over the summer. I did well in his courses, and I think I especially impressed him during the capstone since it was closely supervised. I feel like he could write me a strong LOR, and it’s really important for one program I’m applying to with a December 2nd deadline.
Unfortunately, I haven’t received a response yet. I followed up politely twice (last week and again yesterday) and even had a friend visit his office hours. My friend said the professor promised to reply at the start of this week, but I haven’t heard anything yet. He’s juggling five courses, so I understand he’s very busy, but I’m running out of time.
In the meantime, I’ve reached out to other professors as backups, but most said they couldn’t write me a strong letter. I also emailed the assistant dean for advice, and he generously offered to help by contacting the professor or finding alternatives. I’m wondering if I should ask my friend to visit his office hours again or if that might come off as too pushy. I don’t want to jeopardize the relationship, but I really need his approval to list him as a referee.
Do you think I should:
- Wait a couple more days and hope he responds?
- Ask my friend to check in during his office hours again?
- Accept the assistant dean’s offer to reach out on my behalf?
- Try to secure a backup professor for just this one application?
- Or perhaps something else?
