Looking for games that play out on the scale of days to weeks to even indefinite. Something that continues continues whether you're there or not.
Stuff like Animal Crossing would be good, where you have a village that continues when you aren't there.
I also remember an old game where you just visited some people in a tree house? Could run it as a screen saver to watch their lives continue when you aren't playing.
I also remember an old PBEM game called... Web of Power or something? You'd submit your turn, and then everyone would get sent a little map of their empire and what they are aware of and stuff would progress. But I'd prefer it to not be turn-based.
Any genre works.
Rather avoid browser games. While many technically run while you aren't playing, it never really feels like it. Just timers counting down. Rather avoid games where it's just timers counting down.
Important thing is it feels like stuff is alive and happening between sessions. I am a person who prefers games where I can just nudge things rather than have godlike control. I don't like feeling like nothing would happen without my direct input.
Playable single-player is preferred, but I could be convinced to do multiplayer stuff.
tl;dr - looking for a game that feels like it's alive and progressing even when you aren't actively playing

Hi,
I'm considering a 7-day small boat cruise to Croatia for my husband and me for next Sept 2025. Has anyone experienced travel with either cruise company? Specifically, I'm looking at the Split to Dubrovnik as follows:
Sail Croatia Elegance cruise on the Romantic Star
Unforgettable Travel Co. Signature cruise on the Bellissima
My husband and I aren't cruise types (this would be my first), but a small luxury boat cruise seems an efficient and enjoyable way to see the Dalmatian islands. It's pricey though, so considering if it's better to tour Croatia land only with some ferries for day trips.

2024.11.27 18:41 RealPandorica Embarrassed to ask....but, does anyone else deal with incontinence?

Recently diagnosed with lcSSc - although, I should say CORRECTLY diagnosed a year plus after being misdiagnosed with AMSAN, an incredibly rare form of Guillain-Barré Syndrome. I also have at least 4 other confirmed autoimmune disorders and am awaiting confirmation of suspected Multiple Sclerosis on top of everything.
That said, I sometimes don't even know which symptoms are from which disease at this point. I've dealt with most of the autoimmune symptoms since I was 20 (now 41), so I feel like the bladder incontinence must be related to either the lcSSc or the possible MS , but wanted to get some advice after wetting the bed overnight for the 3rd time in around 3 months.
Does anyone else deal with wetting the bed or incontinence? The first two times it happened, I actually woke up while urinating, but this time did not, so had no idea until morning. If you do have this issue, how have you managed or dealt with it? Is there anything I can do or try, other than getting a waterproof mattress pad and/ or wearing Depends overnight?
Tbh, I really can't afford constantly buying Depends, as they are so expensive and, thanks to the multiple hospitalizations and loss of income last year, I was forced to file Chapter 13 bankruptcy and money is extremely tight.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, but please, no shaming. At 41, this is so embarrassing to me, and I hate that my husband has to deal with it, too. It took me several days just to gather the courage to even post this, so advice only please.

Something I've been thinking about is the contrast between Light when he had the Death Note and Light when he loses his memories. People say he is uncharacteristically kind and moral after his memories were gone, but I think it actually makes sense.
The Death Note corrupted him at the perfect time, he had the power to kill anyone while in a state of boredom and loneliness in the sense that he had no one on his level to talk to and everything came easy. After killing 2 people, he had to justify to himself that it was the correct thing to do. Basically getting in too deep to the point where he decided that he was actually a God.
Compare that to when he had no knowledge that he had ever killed anyone, now at a point where he is in a tight circle of detectives, his father, and someone intellectually on his level like L. He's butting heads against L on if he was Kira or not while also trying to catch what he perceives to be the real Kira. Suddenly we see him in a state where he isn't bored, he isn't alone, and he doesn't have this ultimate power.
Light having something to solve, while doing so with someone as smart as L. Makes it so his boredom, loneliness, and lust for power are completely snuffed out. All the things that created Kira in the first place.
I'm just rambling so if I make any mistakes that's probably why.

years ago ive prepped my mac earlier in the day, looked so good when cooked. i refrigerate and put it in oven when the turkey comes out and it was just not great after it was heated… it was not as creamy and got too thick. my question is how do i avoid this? or is my only option to make the sauce and cook right when im ready to put it in oven? there will be a lot obviously happening in the kitchen so im trying to avoid that, but would rather have a stuffed kitchen than gross mac and cheese lol

Hi, I am looking for boots with cushioning comparable to Dr. Martens or Solovair but made with higher-quality leather. I’ve been considering Paraboot, particularly the Neuilly and Imbattable models. According to their website, both the midsole and outsole are made of vulcanized rubber. I’m wondering if they offer a similar level of cushioning to Dr. Martens or Solovair. Does anyone have these models or other Paraboot shoes with same construction?
I also own other high-quality boots with leather midsoles and Vibram outsoles, but I find them quite uncomfortable for a full day at the office. I walk approximately an hour every day to and from the train, as well as outside the office for food, strolls, etc., so I spend a significant amount of time on my feet. I own also a pair of Solovair astronaut with greasy leather but I find them very difficult to dress up.

So last night out of nowhere my pedals starting acting up. The clutch now only gets input from the brake pedal and it has worked fine since the day i bought this wheel setup in 2019 and this happened last night after i stopped playing american truck sim. ive tried every fix i can find including just plain cleaning the thing to no avail.
