I have a character that only knows a few select words in a language he's now immersed in. I'm writing third person limited. I've been using a kind of broken dialogue like "Hi....your....name?" to represent that he is only picking up a few words out of the sentence. I'm sure someone else has done this before and probably better. Has anyone seen this done? Does anyone know of any references I could look at? Google is providing 0 help.

Have you ever felt like stopping yourself from feeling emotions and just wanted to stay numb until it all goes away so you can resume with life? There really is peace in being alone and just shutting off everything else that tries to get to you. To disappear, to escape from reality.
On my previous post, I mentioned that I have been feeling unmotivated the past days. No appetite either at all. Everything feels like a chore. I can barely get myself to do the normal things Iāve been doing on a daily basis. Not sure whatās wrong with me. I tried to do better today. I tried working out, going out for a walk, felt okay but not so much. These temporary distractions arenāt helping.
Do I just wait till it gets better? Or am I rushing to get over this? My mind feels cloudy, filled with thoughts I canāt seem to clear.
Posting this here cause I donāt want to go anywhere else or approach anyone I know irl. Not sure what advice I need.

I'm heading down to Seattle this weekend for three days and am planning on making a stop at a Total Wine to pick up a couple bottles of bourbon that don't really pop up here in B.C. - nothing crazy, just solid, decently priced shelfers that they take for granted. Honestly jealous of the options when browsing their inventories. Stuff like Old Grand Dad 114, Old Forester 100, Early Times BiB, Four Roses Single Barrel. They recently started stocking the Bardstown Origin series and have some offerings from hyped up smaller distilleries like Still Austin and Redwood Empire, and everywhere seems to have the Wild Turkey 70th Anniversary in stock. Gonna be hard to narrow it down to the 2-3 bottles we're allowed to bring back across customs.
That got me thinking, what would you get? Do you have any must buys or recommendations for when you make a quick trip across the border?
