2024.11.27 19:50 ospreyyyy Harvesting our own — best storage?

My mom lives on an approved harvest zone in Long Island Sound and it’s become a tradition for me to harvest oysters for the family when we’re home every thanksgiving. (I get my license for this one day a year, don’t worry.)
Typically I harvest a few hours before consuming, but given the rain forecast tomorrow I’m planning to harvest this afternoon.
My question is what’s the best method to store for 24-30 hours until we eat tomorrow? My goal is for freshest taste, not necessarily convenience.
I’ve read to not store them in a bucket of seawater because they will consume all the oxygen and die. I’m hoping, though, that if I put a small quantity (about two dozen) in a large (5 gal) bucket and replenish the water every, say, 6 hours, this should be fine.
Anyone have any experience and/or advice? If this plan sounds bad, I know I can just toss them in the fridge in a damp cloth but I’m hoping they’ll taste more just-harvested if I can store in water.

I truly thought that we would've applied for the disabled player exemption when I-Jax was done for the season. I figured we would use that money to go and grab a backup C, but obviously we haven't and with Moses Brown on the team we don't need to.
So the only reason I came up with to keep Jackson and his $4.4mil expiring contract is to use in a trade. Given how close we are to the tax line, adding his money to a deal could very well be the thing that keeps us out of the 1st apron, and I think that's a priority for ownership.

Name - Sebastion Byte
Age - 36

Aesthetic - Art Deco
Affiliation - Team SIBR (Sabre)
Role - Team Leader, Hacker
Weapon: Silicon Valley - A sabre/assault rifle hybrid weapon with various computer parts inside of it. They contain the various malwares that Sebastion uses for hacking, as well as an AI that is linked to a monocle-like visor that Sebastion wears, that assists with aiming.
Semblance: Voltaic Possession - Sebastion's semblance allows him to "possess" any electronic device, as long as he can create a circuit between it and himself. His most common way of doing this is through electric dust, fired out of a customized prosthetic left arm. The two main ways that he uses his semblance are travelling through wires/cables/circuitry, and making hacking much, much, easier. There is, however, a downside. As you can probably guess, being inside of an electric circuit isn't very good for your health. Whenever Sebastion uses his semblance, he ends up with a multitude of electrical burns, getting progressively worse the more he uses it. The burns aren't actually capable of killing him, and will heal themselves over time, but they do still hurt like hell. As such, he can only use his semblance in short bursts.
History - Sebastion's goals are an enigma. CEOs, celebrities, and politicians alike have all landed in his crosshairs. For the most part, he and his team have only really been targeting banks, luxury brands, and warehouses, but recently they've gotten more... bold. Attacking higher security, higher value targets. He calls what he's doing "calculated chaos", which entails causing as much chaos and anarchy as possible through highly elaborate and convoluted plans. And nobody knows what SIBR's plan is. Are they working for Salem? The White Fang? A corrupt politician? Are they just a bunch of anarchists and thieves, causing mayhem without a purpose? Or is there actually a grand plan hidden behind Sebastion's seafoam green eyes?
Personality - Sebastion is, for the most part, pretty laid back. He often jokes and messes around, not really taking anything seriously, no matter how life threatening, and always has this sense of calm, even when in mortal danger. However, don't let this make you think he's stupid. In truth, he is incredibly calculating, only acting the way he does because he knows he can do so safely. He can, however, very quickly lose his care-free nature, becoming stone-cold and serious almost immediately when it is needed. And then, when he's back in the clear, he's right back to not giving a shit.

You are not old until you are literally geriatric- don’t ever feel too old for anything. “You look good for your age” is a backhanded compliment and never accept that.
Growing older is a privilege. Do not stress over it! There are others dying every day wishing they could live the life you have.
Treat yourself like you would your best friends and loved ones. Be kind and patient with yourself, always.
Heartache and grief are a natural part of life. Allow yourself space to feel your feelings and process it.
Take your time and have grace for yourself and others.
Find a reason to smile!
Please nourish your body and develop a skincare routine and healthy lifestyle (diet, exercise, etc.).
Hobbies are so important and add to your life.
Never stop learning!
Life is beautiful and worth living. 30s are so fun! Celebrate every day as if it is your last, and you’ll never be bored.

I have a character that only knows a few select words in a language he's now immersed in. I'm writing third person limited. I've been using a kind of broken dialogue like "Hi....your....name?" to represent that he is only picking up a few words out of the sentence. I'm sure someone else has done this before and probably better. Has anyone seen this done? Does anyone know of any references I could look at? Google is providing 0 help.

Have you ever felt like stopping yourself from feeling emotions and just wanted to stay numb until it all goes away so you can resume with life? There really is peace in being alone and just shutting off everything else that tries to get to you. To disappear, to escape from reality.
On my previous post, I mentioned that I have been feeling unmotivated the past days. No appetite either at all. Everything feels like a chore. I can barely get myself to do the normal things I’ve been doing on a daily basis. Not sure what’s wrong with me. I tried to do better today. I tried working out, going out for a walk, felt okay but not so much. These temporary distractions aren’t helping.
Do I just wait till it gets better? Or am I rushing to get over this? My mind feels cloudy, filled with thoughts I can’t seem to clear.
Posting this here cause I don’t want to go anywhere else or approach anyone I know irl. Not sure what advice I need.
