Okay, buckle up, because this one’s a ride. Before you say the thing... don’t. We’re all very good friends, and this is meant to be lighthearted and funny. Our group is a bunch of blue-collar workers who are basically dead inside, so nothing here is that deep.
Last session was wild. Normally we’re pretty serious, but somehow everything devolved into chaos and laughing tears. I genuinely don’t think I’ve laughed that hard in years. The party loved the vibe so much that I want to keep it going, at least while we’re all still in the same spot. I pitched an idea, and the reaction was priceless.
Here’s the setup: Our campaign hit a major moment where three out of five party members managed to challenge an entire Dragonborn village, basically claiming, “We’re better than you.” The other two disguised themselves as locals, avoiding most of the chaos entirely.
The village took them up on the challenge, saying: "This is your belief? That you are better than all of us? Then you shall prove as much. If you can demonstrate that you are a superior specimen to our chosen, we will open the temple to you."
The players see the temple doors barred, with... something shining on a pedestal inside.
The kicker? The three players competing:
- A butch female - "war" wizard, female pc
- A straight male - barbarian, male pc
- A very gay male - Paladin, Female pc
The Village’s Backstory: This Dragonborn village worships a half-dragon who supposedly has the ear of the Dragon Mother. Every year, the males of one specific color (chosen by the half-dragon) compete in a tournament to determine the “top specimen.” The winner is “chosen by the Dragon Mother” and told they’ll be reborn in her image—a half-dragon.
DM Secret Knowledge: It’s all a con. The half-dragon is trying to breed an army but can’t carry children herself, so she’s been “rebirthing” champions through the dragonlance corruption ritual that has been altered to use the heart of a Dragonborn. The “chosen” aren’t reborn; they’re sacrifices. The villagers have no clue.
What I Need Help With: I want to make this tournament as hilariously over-the-top and ridiculous as possible. Think silly, absurd, and dramatic—something that’ll have the table rolling again. Grunting competitions? Flex-offs? A “brooding stare into the sunset” round? I’m not naturally the funny one, so I’m reaching out to all of you creative geniuses.
What would you add to make this “Alpha Arena” the most ludicrous contest of manliness ever?

I'm not saying guys need to last 342424 minutes in bed — there is so much more you can be doing. (But if that's where your mind went, you're probably not a very good sex partner anyways.)

I'm currently renovating my home with plans to sell within the next six months. I had applied for an unsecured loan with my bank (Simplii), but it was declined - not sure why - they claim they can't find my file after asking for a 2nd review, but I definitely have a letter from them that the loan wasn't approved. I didn't think it would be such an issue to get funding from them, since I have a good payment history with them, having two smaller personal loans from 2023 which I paid off early. When the unsecured loan got declined, I had thought I'd be able to take out a HELOC, only to be informed that they no longer fund 2nd position HELOCs. My mortgage is with IG Wealth and I've already explored options with them and there aren't any. I've put a large portion of renos on a balance transfer CC that is 0% interest for a year, as well as some 0% financing on another card. I thought I was being smart. Unfortunately, this has impacted my utilization rate and my credit score has plummeted from mid 700s to low 600s. The bank only sees the high utilization and credit score, so obviously if they turned me down before, I don't see them approving me for funding now. Are there any options for me? Or do I have to suck it up and do the renos as cash comes available now? These renos would greatly increase the market value of my home and I'm not sure I'd be able to complete them in time to list when I'd planned if I had to go that route.

 | This is my tiny 1 gallon shrimp tank with the cutest little hob filter. Going strong since 6 to 8 months. Initially I used to have mosquito larvae issue, hence I put in 4 ember tetras in there. 1 of the tetras just upped & vanished one day without a trace 😅 couldn't find it while cleaning the tank, checked everywhere around the tank, filter & everything.. no trace.. MIA... Now there are 3 of em in there. I throw in a couple of algae wafer flakes twice a week for the shrimp and a few small pellets for the embers. What concerns me is, I have never seen them eat or even approach the food. I have diff types of food, micro pellet, slightly larger pellets etc.. they swim around energetically and run to hide as soon as they see me approaching.. they seem healthy.. but I have never seen them eat. My shrimps on the other hand have taken a liking to the floating pellets and I see them often running off with a pellet every now and then to sit and munch on it.. Should I change food?
