2024.11.27 21:25 FearedBySalmon How to make DMing feel less like I’m doing it for a grade?
I’m new to DMing and I initially loved it! I had a ton of fun and so did my friends! That was what I figured mattered and I appreciated that it wasn't bothered by my perfectionist tendencies from my anxiety disorder.
The thing I like about D&D is just having fun playing pretend with my friends. I don't really care what the story or the NPCs are when I'm a player because I just like chilling and having fun and for most of the group, that's the general vibe. Let's just hang out and dress like wizards and play pretend and shit.
Anyway, after my third session a guy got really mad. He hated the characters and the story and thought I didn't take enough feedback about executing the things I set out to do. (Turns out I had misunderstood the feedback on some things because it was vague and tried to find a compromise on other feedback because other players had given the exact opposite feedback). And overall I just ended up feeling like shit.
We talked it out and he apologized and actually thought the writing was really good but he didn't like the story or the characters. Also, he still thinks I need to take feedback (which yes, obviously but I think some of it came down to a matter of preference)
Anyway, I don't know what to do. Now every time I sit down to type stuff up I just want to cry. I had loved doing this and now the idea of fucking up and someone not having a good time is making me paranoid. I love my story and characters but I can't think about them or write about them anymore knowing that one player hates them. I feel like the only ethical thing to do is throw them out or start over even though the other players seem to like them.
I considered if I would have a better time playing without the dude who gave me the metaphorical bad yelp review but the answer is just no. DMing is now coded in my brain as something I am doing for a grade and trying to do any of it, I feel paralyzed with guilt and perfectionism. It triggers my OCD really bad.
And I hate it! It's worse than having writers block. I had been free of this ridiculous anxiety for three sessions and now it's come to take away my favorite hobby too?
I don't know how to deal with it. Is there anyway to make this fun again? Is there anyway I can continue my story without the guilt? I just want to go back to being able to have fun with my friends.
Any other perfectionist DMs struggle with this?

I remember when I was young and I saw a video called “Torinos hell” (I think that’s what it’s called) it scared me so much because I thought that if I read it I would get cursed or I would die. I couldn’t stop thinking about it and it ended until 1-2 years.

So long story short, my wife and I recently downsized, and my mom is in the process of downsizing as well. Neither of us have space for all of this, and while my dad and I started this collection back in the 90's we honestly don't have room for any of it at this time. From following this subbreddit, I know 99% of this is junk, but I was hoping you brilliant people might be able to find some things of value in this collection that I can start letting go of.
Side note, wtf do I with 40lbs of unused card albums because that's about half of them.

Please help I wanted to install a clean install of windows 11 using a USB stick prepared by windows media creation tool. However, during the installation after the first reboot, a bsod screen appears with the message inacessible boot device....
After checking the disks in the command line two disks appear. The drive numbered 3 is a Tb ssd, and the drive numbered 4 which is a USB flash drive with ESD on it.
The matter is strange because disk 3 has three volumes, one of which is labeled with the letter C and the description ESD-USB. After accessing this volume via cmd, it turns out that it is a proper USB drive with ESD-USB Windows 11 installer.
What is the issue here....
Of course, the installation of windows 10 via ESD USB runs smoothly....

I remember seeing but can't find for the love of god again. Was a AI that you use 2 images, the AI turn into video the logical gap into video between the 2 images we use. The examples I saw was like a animation cartoon, image 1a character and image 2 a door, the AI then would make the character cross and close the door video. Thank you.

EUGENE, OREGON shows a long UFO history. In 1947, a married couple had a dramatic encounter with a low-level UFO. In 1974, several residents of an apartment building all called the police to report a fast-moving egg-shaped object. In 2017, a “cloaked” cylindrical craft moved over the city.
ROTHERHAM, UK was the location of a spooky humanoid goat-man seen back in 1937. The years of 1977, 1981, 1987, 1988 and 1997 produced many spectacular cases. More cases occur, even as late as 2001 when witnesses reported a craft moving with a strange pendulum motion. The cases speak for themselves. All over the world UFOs are being seen. UFO activity is far more common and widespread than previously thought. It appears that the ETs want us to know they are here! The truth is obvious: UFOs are seen all over the planet, including your own hometown.

I don’t understand the praise be he pod is giving him for showing up and doing his job. lol like nigga barely puts out music and just because he’s actually being consistent with music finally the whole music industry is giving him all this praise when everything he’s putting out isn’t even close to good as his old stuff. He doesn’t get the j Cole and Drake type of critique, it’s literally just all praise for anything he does and I’m wondering why? He’s not light years ahead of these other two artist to me.
