2024.11.27 21:26 Diligent_South Amicable Break ups. Don't know what it means.

We dated for 3 years in college. Fought sometimes, but also knew we both loved each other deeply. She left for masters, and I had to stay for one more semester because I started a semester late. She'd hint very subtly that it might be the end while talking on the phone, but we still kept calling eachother for quite a while. Then, I just had an awakening one day that she doesn't really see a future for us, and I should stop trying so hard to make "us" work. I called her, and that was it. No fight, nothing dramatic. It's bizarre.
It was very hard for both of us when she had to move to a different state. Some of her last words were: "You are great at what you do. I know you'll do something good for yourself one day. You were one of the closest friends I ever had." I/she have "cleaned" our socials, but I know for a fact that there is no bad blood.
But, I just don't know what to feel. It hurts (but it comes in waves), but I didn't expect it to end like this. It's been about a week. I am a little numb as to what I should be feeling, but I'm also weirdly very in-tune with myself.
Warm regards to anyone who's going through a break up rn.

2024.11.27 21:26 p3nguinboy 330i 6MT Swap: ZF GS6-37BZ variants, THEG vs. HEG vs. THEA vs. TJEP

Currently my car has the ZF 5MT, which is great but I want the extra gear for highway gas mileage.
Which one of these above transmissions, other than the THEG, will fit the M54B30? I know that the E60 520i and 525i had an M54 as well with the same transmission as the 330i 6MT and that one is the THEG. However the E60 also came with the HEG variant, and I'd like to know from you guys what the difference is between the THEG and the HEG transmissions - I couldn't find anything on bimmerforums and e46fanatics and other forums. So far from my online window shopping, the HEG variant from the E60 is about half the price of the THEG variant found in both the E60 and the E46.
The THEA variant is the transmission found in the 3.0 Z4, though I haven't found any info online that confirms whether it's a direct bolt on.
Lastly the TJEP variant is the one made for the N52 engine; they're a lot more common than the THEG and cheaper as well, but I don't know if the gear ratios or the dimensions would suit the E46 330i.
Basically it all boils down to this: I'd only really want to spend 1.2k€ on a proper THEG transmission if there's absolutely no other option. If I can get away with buying and installing the HEG transmission for half that amount of money, I'd like to do it.
Any advice and pointers are appreciated! Thanks a lot!

Good afternoon! I am a degreed Gen-Xer who generally has enjoyed high-ish social status in my community but due to a transition time in my life, decided to seek a job as direct care staff for a program in my community. I initially was very uninformed, and chose a for-profit TTI program and worked there for several weeks. I was excited to work with my favorite age group (no that’s not sarcasm I really do love teenagers) and very sad and disappointed and had to do a lot of processing when I realized that the first program was so horrible.
Please note that I am making some generalizations here. DO NOT make the mistake of thinking that anything in this post is factually inaccurate due to these generalizations, however. Essentially all for-profit residential programs for teens are NOT good and could make your child much, much worse.
I have teenagers myself, and I have written this to show other parents what they need to be looking for in programs when considering the health of their children. The TTI program where I was first employed was a FOR-PROFIT program. At the end of the day, the executives of these companies HAVE A DUTY TO SHAREHOLDERS TO MAXIMIZE PROFIT. They do this at the expense of your children.
You should know that these companies are extremely skilled at easing the fears of parents that their children will be harmed by the program. For example, my first program was “restraint-free”. It also adopted a philosophy that called for neither reinforcement nor consequences for behaviors. No rewards, no punishment. So parents can feel safer, knowing that not only will their child not be restrained, they won’t be punished. However, the net effect of these policies was: the most challenging clients quite literally run the entire place, and can do whatever harm they like to YOUR children.
In my short time at a for-profit teen residential treatment facility, I witnessed:

  1. Clients that are very large/strong/powerful and prone to extreme emotional dysregulation sharing spaces with very small, quiet, timid, fearful, or vulnerable clients;
  2. Kids being very near to violent acts which staff were powerless to stop;
  3. Clients being assaulted by other clients;
  4. Staff being injured by clients;
  5. Staff making statements (due to lack of professional training) regarding how they would resort to any means necessary to protect themselves/other kids from violent clients, including using inappropriate physical force;
  6. Staff working on the floor with clients for weeks at a time without ANY type of crisis or de-escalation training;
  7. Clients being systematically bullied (read: psychologically tortured) by other clients without consequence;
  8. Clients being counseled regarding their personal/familial/emotional problems by staff lacking any type of clinician training or education;
    1. Abysmal scheduling resulting in major blocks of unoccupied time during which the kids were free to destroy the place, elope from the program, or be cruel to each other;
    2. Constant pressure from corporate ownership to admit higher acuity clients whose needs cannot be served by the program to maintain the census;
    3. Kids who were “not that bad” or “just self-harming” learning escalated behaviors like how to cheek their meds, how to elope from a program overnight, how to steal vapes off the side of the road, and more;
    4. Promotion to top Director of an individual who has NO Master’s degree and in fact has styled the program after a pop psychology book.
In my short time at a non-profit program, I have witnessed:
  1. Direct care staff being told in no uncertain terms that they are NOT to counsel the clients regarding their personal problems as they are not professionally equipped to do so.
  2. Implementation of an incredibly effective reinforcement system that helps clients, by proxy, work on the neural connections in their brains that are currently damaged/not functioning effectively.
  3. Implementation of a functional and person-centered behavioral plan that any/all staff can use as a tool to understand a particular client’s behaviors and needs;
  4. Very structured program with regularly scheduled therapy being delivered by trained clinicians;
  5. Comprehensive human rights training that covers all aspects of control that any reasonable individual would like to maintain over their own life including family contact/phone calls, personal space, dietary choices, and media;
  6. Consistent care (that does not trigger clients to find refuge in poor behaviors simply bc each staff has their own opinion of how the program should be);
  7. Top-notch professionalism and total accountability to ways the program may not currently serve clients’ best interests due to tight State regulation and oversight.
The State of New Jersey enjoys one of the lowest youth suicide rates in the country. They achieved this WHILE also largely driving for-profit teen residential facilities OUT OF THE STATE. A quote from the NYT:
“One key to its success is that New Jersey has been able to direct Medicaid funding toward home- and community-based services, while many other states prioritize residential care. When residential care can’t be avoided, New Jersey uses tightly regulated programs that are close enough for frequent parental visits. This not only helps children but also provides oversight of conditions. Most for-profit youth residential programs no longer operate in New Jersey, while nonprofits have expanded.”
