Working through various options now for our band and so far this is what I got...
- Checks: fee-free, but royal pain in the ass if they need to be mailed. Would like to go away from these. - Venmo and Zelle: best so far, with no fee, but not everyone uses them. - ACH: seems pretty problem-free (?) - Stripe or other credit card processors: bad fees, but convenient for payers I suppose. - Cash: obviously easy, but not always convenient remotely or with large sums.

Today a very low performing (would be on a PIP if we didn't have a hiring freeze) employee wished me a Happy Thanksgiving, the let me know he'll be taking 2.5 weeks off starting next Monday. I was sooo surprised and pissed he didn't give me more notice.

Hey y'all,
I'm new to shrimp tanks (and planted/Walstad style tanks) and was so worried about having parameters etc right that I decided to start off with only five ghost shrimp and a Nerite snail to make sure nothing would die/my tank wouldn't crash. 60 ish hours later, and so far so good. Everyone seems happy as can be, water parameters are good (<.25 ammonia, <.25 nitrites, 5-10 nitrates, my water is pretty hard with pH about 7.8, GH was 7 drops so 100-200, KH was 5 drops so 50-100) so I got really excited and ordered six blue neos.
These "ghost" shrimp were in a tank with neos at PetCo (please don't judge, I live in a rural area and the LFS doesn't have ghost shrimp) so I assumed it was fine, but now that I've been browsing older posts on this sub I'm seeing horror stories of people getting a neo massacre because they didn't actually have ghost shrimp, they had whisker shrimp. Am I going to have a bloodbath Friday morning when I put the neos in? Or should I be okay since they were already in a neo tank at PetCo? I'm nervous 😬
For what it's worth, it's a moderately planted 10 gallon tank. Sorry the pictures aren't the clearest, iPhone + aquarium glare = ... this.

In truth, Wyl of Wyl is the preferred title for those heads of House Wyl (a matter Wyls have been extremely insistent about over the years), as a title passed on through the ages, but only one has gone down in history as the Wyl of Wyl.
Regardless, even among Dornishmen, House Wyl are often considered half-mad in most cases, eccentric at best and full-blown insane at worst. A reputation that has often followed Lords Waldon, Wallace (half-mad), Wylis, Willem (eccentric) and Victor (insane). As such, most Dornish nobles tend to steer clear of the Wyls of the Boneway, which is also why they have largely stayed out of the Circle throughout the years, with House Wyl being perfectly content to stay away from both Spears and Silks.
Edmund Wyl, however, tends to believe that he's the sole exception. An exception to the rule by not being a lunatic. Born in 218 to Lord Willem Wyl and his wife Doreza Drinkwater, Edmund grew up an only child, knowing he'd be the Wyl of Wyl one day.
Though he vastly preferred to learn how to rule, his childish plans were dashed by his father, who sent him to squire with Ser Trebor Wyl, a distant relative (second cousin once removed). So, for many years, he learned how to fight and little else, as Ser Trebor knew very little of things he couldn't fight or drink. Knighted in 235 AC, Edmund began to slowly take a more active role in the day-to-day of the Boneway, because his father's eccentricity was actively ruining it, because Lord Willem tended to do things on a whim, such as taking a large loan from Pentos to build a war fleet. By 240 AC, Edmund had forced his father out of ruling entirely and set about fixing his father's mess. In 242 AC, his father passed away in his sleep, making Edmund the new Lord of the Boneway, though he had been the Wyl for half a decade in all but name. His mother followed his father to the grave less than half a year later.
The Wyl lands were barely out of the near ruin that Willem Wyl left them in. A large part of why Edmund had managed to turn things around (and paying off his father's debts) was trade, which was why Edmund was particularly miffed when Tyroshi and Myrish pirates began to harass his ships, among others. Thus, he took very little convincing in joining the war that started in 248 AC, though the war effort did bring his coffers back down. With his forces being some of the first on the Stepstones, he was also one of the first to join the fray, earning himself an epithet along the way when one Myrish deserter who spoke very little of the Common Tongue surrendered himself to "the Black Adder".
And Edmund is trying to open Wyl up to the rest of Dorne and take a more active role, but he is actively fighting against several generations of ill repute.
Timeline:
218 AC: Edmund is born at Wyl to Lord Willem Wyl and his wife Doreza Drinkwater.
230 AC: Edmund is sent off to squire for distant cousin Ser Trebor Wyl.
233 AC: On a whim, Edmund's father takes a large loan from Pentos with the aim of building a war fleet.
235 AC: Edmund is knighted. He begins to push out his father out of the business of ruling.
237 AC: By this point, Edmund has become Wyl of Wyl in all but name.
242 AC: Lord Willem Wyl passes away. Edmund becomes the new Wyl of Wyl.
247 AC: Edmund pays off his father's loan to Pentos.

For context:
I (32M) have been friends with (we'll call her Jane) for 20+ years. Jane and I have always been incredibly close and have shared many experiences together throughout our life time. I am a gay man, and she is embracing of it. Her and I have had our little hiccups here and there, but I feel strongly about something that occurred today.
To not be confused, Jane is left leaning. She voted for Kamala Harris in this past election. It came to my surprise that her boyfriend voted for Trump, considering that he had never expressed any conservative beliefs. In one event, he brought up politics during a party, so I escorted him outside to see what his view was. It seemed as though that he refused to vote for Kamala because he was a woman, but was not bold enough to say he was voting for Trump. In that discussion, he said he would be casting his vote for RFK JR. I explained how its a throw away vote and to at least educate himself on some policies. I also explained that Trump has hateful policies that RFK JR had endorsed. I let it be known that Trump is against my community, both as a gay and Latino male, and a vote for him is a vote against me. He texted me the following day apologizing about the discussion and said he would never vote against me. That text aged fairly quickly.
My friend called me after she found out of her boyfriend voted for Trump and was complaining for an hour. My only solution was to break up or to stop complaining. She avoided contact with him for a week, went camping with me, and then went on a trip to another country with her family and boyfriend. Her family has yet to find out that he is a Trump supporter. The main reason is that Jane's family is full of immigrants. She texted the group chat today with a picture of an engagement ring. She accepted.
To me, this felt as though she lacked a backbone. She had called me three weeks prior stating that she did not know if she can see past it, and now she's marrying him? Personally, I feel a bit betrayed by him for voting for someone he said he wouldn't, and I feel disappointed with my friend for not standing her ground. AITA for cutting her off?
I feel that we are at an age to understand our differences, but this political issue is no longer political, but rather moral. To me, marrying him is enabling him. I am at the point where I would rather surround myself with individuals who take the time to educate themselves on these things, rather than voting for things they know nothing about. Her decision to accept his engagement brings an immense amount of disapointment, and I really don't know if I can continue being her friend.
Am I overreacting?
