I feel like my pieces are always a bit too random to be considered seriously 😅 But then someone saw this piece in my portfolio somehow fell in love with it n offered (what I consider) a really good price. Hi,
I have a single-stage furnace (installed around 2011) and had an HVAC technician about 8 months ago adjust the settings as best as he could to try to improve heating balance across my home, especially in the basement. They also recommended running the fan 24/7, which has helped create more even temperatures. However, with winter in full swing, I’ve noticed strange behavior, and I’m not sure what’s causing it.
I’m using a Nest thermostat and have disabled the "Auto-Schedule" and "Away" modes, relying solely on my preset schedule. For example, I set the temperature to 22.5°C (72.5°F) at 4 PM and should go till 11:30pm, but by 7 PM, the temperature in the bonus room remains stuck at 18°C (64.4°F). Finally, around 9 PM, it begins to warm up, reaching 19.5°C (67.1°F) and keeps going up with it now at 20.5°C (68.9°F).
At 7pm when I noticed it just kept at the same temperature I tried to raise it even higher to 23.5°C (74.3°F) but still no change until magically at 9pm it decided to kick in and start to warm.
I have thermostats all around my house to monitor, I got one even by the NEST to see what it could be reading as I do have a register near the NEST (seem to be bad placement, but I am not HVAC person so maybe it is fine) and that thermostat was only reading at 7pm around 20°C (68°F) and I had the NEST set to 22.5°C (72.5°F) so I don't think it is because the NEST thinks it reached the right temperature.
It seems like the furnace is taking hours to begin blowing warm air. This has happened a few times, one was when I got up and noticed the house was cold and confirmed with all my thermostats that sometime in the early morning all the temperatures plummeted.
It took hours till all suddenly it just suddenly started to blow hot air, even registers that are very close to the furnace and usually blow very warm air were not. Then it was great and no problems for like a week and now two days in a row, fine when I got up to go to work nice and toasty, and then when I came home in the evening bad and taking hours till heat up even though like I said I can see the NEST is set at the right temperature I want it to be 22.5°C (72.5°F).
First time I thought it was because I had MERV 13 filter in there and thought maybe it overheated or something. I changed it to MERV 8 what people recommend more and that is now like 1 or 2 weeks old max.
Like I said, it was serviced 8 months ago and no problems found and was told in good condition.
Do I just not understand how the furnaces work, or is something more going on? I am not sure if I should call in the HVAC guy again.

I don’t exactly know how to ask the question I really wanted to ask, so I’ll provide an explanation.
Many of us grow up learning some interesting things about the world. If someone didn’t know the difference between a mammal and a reptile, or if they don’t understand the water cycle, they would be considered ignorant. But we learn so much about this stuff when we are young. And I suspect that a lot of this knowledge can be forgotten easily if you aren’t regularly engaging with it. What should we remember and how should we go about remembering it? What more should we know? What is essential knowledge? You can’t know everything, and you only have so much time to learn when you are an adult.
Some things I thought of is this. Reading, writing, interpersonal communication, workplace communication, arithmetic. Those are things I think many people would agree with. But at the end of the day, that isn’t a lot. I just think there has to be more?

Me and my boss are close, he is 54, (he was a new hire and few months ago, he is a single guy who got out from a 14 year relationship) and honestly I tried to avoid him because I don't expect anything. I work at this small hotel with him and it has gotten so slow, I only get 3 days and everyone else the same, 2-3 days a week. I just got another job and I hope it goes better. I only have 3 days, working by myself and scheduled only with the boss guy. The other employees who work my off days work with other managers.
Last week he acted kinda awkward. I kinda tried to avoid him but he kept talking to me. He put some chiropractic device on his back, that he experiences pain and pulled up his sweater to show me his back. The next day he was in the office and he told me he moved to a new place and was asking me which bed he should choose. I asked him for how many people? He said just him and his pet.
Today he came to my area and this other 50-something older man was talking to me, so I didn't want to interrupt to say good morning to my boss. The boss guy came later and I said hi! He bitched at me that I was busy talking to that guy guest for so long that I didn't notice his presence and how himself is better looking. I told him I just flirt whenever to get a good tip and he told me he fired an employee who went with a guest to their room. He told me he will check the cameras if I ever do that lmao. Then he told me that before he comes to work, he helped a lady with her flat tire and the lady was asking him about his muscles that they look so impressive.
I simply told him later on that I think me and him are the prettiest people at the hotel and he said yes, he agrees.
Anyways I work only with him tomorrow on Thanksgiving and he told me he will bring a pie. I want to do something and no other employees from our department will be there lol. Suggestions?

I'm 14f, oldest of 2 siblings, ages 9 and 3. Now my parents got divorced over 7-8 years ago and my father moved on fairly quick. Finding a girlfriend of which he never exactly introduced me too (only passing greetings as he was video chatting her). And he suddenly asks me one day if i'd be fine with him proposing. Which i said yes to because, to be fair i don't exactly care who my parents date as long as they are happy. Neither me nor my mom were ever made aware that she was planning on moving in as one day i went to his house and she was just kinda.. there. Now 2-3 years later my mom finds out they are married because of some bill. (don't remember exactly what it was) And she tells me about it, which i'm shocked at the news but don't think much of it. But after some years i start to think about it and realize, he never actually told me he and her are married. Now another thing he has never told me about is when she got pregnant, they waited almost 6-7 months to even mention it to me (she's about three now) Something else to mention is that my step mom has a son from a previous relationship. She shows obvious favoritism towards him during most stuff. From not being expected to wash or fold his clothes, to not being expected to help take im groceries or clean up around the house. Which i know sounds like it's not a big deal but me and my younger sister are expected to do all of these and if they aren't done we get our electronics taken away. I just want to know if i'm overthinking things or not.
