It’s from a lady who’s dad used to love photography but is no longer with us. Sent her the scans today and it made her so happy. She said it’s like her dad’s legacy through my eyes and I got emotional a little (actually a lot) 😭 Starting film is definitely of the best and fulfilling stuff I did this year. 2024.11.28 11:40 dragonsandoranges Turkey in fridge after cold water thaw?
Had a turkey thawing in the fridge for three days, but it was still partially frozen, so decided to cold water thaw it. It thawed way faster than I anticipated, though ! My tap water comes out warmer around 75 degrees, but I dumped a bag of ice in the water that melted and the temp was around 60 degrees. I did change the water and add more ice, but within 2 hours the turkey felt pretty much thawed! I stuck it back in the fridge at this point as we weren’t able to start cooking yet. It was probably in 60-70 degree water for about 2 hours before the fridge, and my fridge is set to 35. Is it safe to eat it if it stays in there for 3 more hours or so before cooking ? I know you’re supposed to cook immediately after cold water thawing, but it should have been out of temp less than 4 hours.

2024.11.28 11:40 Necessary_Maybe29 Experience throughout the hiring process
Dear Community,
While I was jobhunting this community honestly gave me so much motivation and endurance because I thought i experienced the worst, but some stories here are hard to top.
In my experience I applied for jobs at huge corporations (Stryker, P&G etc) and some smaller corporations (In germany it´s called "Mittelstand"). And i have to say, that the experience especially with the big corporations were the worst. For P&G I did the Online AC went through 3 Interviews and it took about 3 Months for the whole process. The job itself didn´t even sound that interesting, but the process itself convinced me that it would be worth.
In the meantime I had an interview with a smaller Engineering company at the start of November, was invited for a second interview in the middle November and after that second interview they offered me the job with contract and all. Although i received the offer from P&G aswell, the time it took for them to make the call was so f*cked up that i took the Job at the smaller company.
What I want to say is:
1) thanks to everyone who keeps that sub alive and shares their story on the hell called recruiting.
2) I was so focused to land a job in a big renowned company and totally forgot what smaller companies are capable of. It was just about the prestige of the company.
3) Do not give up. The situation sucks at the moment no matter where you are or what you do. But in sharing your stories and gaining experience the whole ordeal becomes much more bearable.
4) The longer the interviews and the whole application process takes, the more likely it is, that there are too many people being involved in the decision.
5) Keep you head up.

I am a middle aged man who is beref of any sense of purpose or meaning. I don't understand what the point of life is or that anything is of any consequence.
Obviously, therapy.
But I am also looking for a book that helps me understand what I am even doing here? I've covered Man's Search For Meaning,When Breath Becoems Air, Jon Kabat Zinn, Tolle, etc. Unfortunately none of those guided me.
I am looking for a book that gave you a sense of purpose or understanding what this life is all about or motivation to do something with it.
