Full disclosure, I got everything resolved and was able to log into my work laptop and outlook account again. Thank jeebus, but last night I had a full on panic attack.
So I work for an IT company and use one of their laptops to work remote and have to use multi factor authentication apps like Duo to login for security purposes, which makes perfect sense. But anyways, yesterday I took the day off as I had to drive down to my parents for Thanksgiving. I didn't try using my laptop until late at night and when I logged in, it wouldn't let me and gave me a message error saying bad time stamp. I also tried opening my outlook email app to mail a ticket but was locked out of that and my other microsoft apps.
I legit had to message some of the IT workers on facebook to see what was going on and was worried I'd got fired as I couldn't access my work email through the apps or websites. Fortunately, all I had to do was reinstall this one app and company portal/profile and was able to log into both outlook and my laptop. I'm at ease now, but jfc, that is literally like the times I've gone to work and had my badge not work in the lobby, or worse my office's scanner at their front door. Not to mention, I've been blindsided and fired out of the blue just a few weeks before Christmas at my last job 8 years ago. There was no issue with the badges as we didn't have any nor was there a work email. I just got called in and told that my position got terminated and escorted out the door. Mind you, this was right after I was told I was doing good and to "keep doing what I'm doing" when sales were slow for a week or 2. Companies can be cruel like that.
But jfc, was the anxiety and catastrophizing overwhelming me last night. I was legit worried about paying rent, debt, and other bills and wondering about collecting unemployment again. That only gets compounded when I have the holidays coming up and I gotta get gifts for my my family and gf.
Anyone else ever have this anxiety? There's no way I'm the only one.

I’m currently applying for the JET Program and am a bit concerned about my references. I have one solid letter from my professor, but for the second reference, I’m unsure who to approach. I do have a close friend in Japan who knows me well and can vouch for my character and interest in Japanese culture, but she isn’t my teacher, supervisor, or in a professional role related to me. Would a personal reference like this be acceptable?
For context, I don’t have a lot of work experience, so my pool of professional connections is quite small. I’d love to hear from anyone who has been in a similar situation or has advice on how to handle references.

Hello. I bought these Thursday boots a few weeks ago and have been wearing them regularly. I was trying to condition them today and this happened. How do I fix it?
Details on my process:
I filled a spray bottle with water and soap. Sprayed a cloth with it and then tried to clean the shoes with the damp cloth. I was rubbing the leather quite aggressively and that is when this started to happen. I used cobblers choice leather conditioner after and it did not help with the damage.
