 | Let me know if you have ANY leads on this one, even guesses: North Carolina, USA Nov. 3 2024 Substrate: dead tree in mixed conifehardwood forest. Couldn’t ID tree because right where this picture cuts off the tree was cut off too. I don’t know trees like that to ID off of bark alone. No branches or leaves to look at either. Desc: Wood decay bracket fungus. Top of fruiting body ranging from tan to light brown to off white with clear zones of differentiating colors. Bodies ranging from 3-12 cm and are rather thin and crispy. GILLS PRESENT! Gills close to crowded, very thin and dark brown in every present specimen. NO pores present near the base of fungus, even in the smaller specimens, so I’m not sure if they’re true gills or elongated pores, which is the main issue here. I can’t find any bracket fungi with gills that are close other than Lenzites betulinus but I know that’s not it because 1. I collected L. betulinus at the same time as this at the same place and it’s way different and 2. my mycology prof agrees, this one is hard for us to ID. KOH is dark brown on surface. I was unable to get a spore print so it’s fair to assume this is an older specimen. Haven’t looked under the scope yet but willing and able. Every year we get a bottle of maple syrup for my grandpa, but we get it from a state other than Vermont. The more ridiculous the state the better. I am male, 35, and totally lost in life. Sorry for the rant, but have nobody to talk to. I'll understand if a mod will erase this or something.
I am lonely. Lonely in a sense that i have nobody like me to talk to, someone who would understand me. Got 1 good friend, who is quite busy with his own family and kids all the time, so I see him maybe once every 2 weeks. My family and I are on bad terms. They were emotionally neglected me (still are), so I don't bother visiting them anymore. They are still a pain over the phone sometimes, though.
I am currently unemployed. Have enough money saved (so no pressure), but I have no idea what I'd like to do. Since I was small I always did things only in order not to feel alone. If my role models were playing videogames, I did too, just to have something to talk about with them. I still play games till this day, even though it doesn't make me happy in any way.
I used to imitate people from movies and TV shows, hoping I will have a life they have (usually an interesting life full of friends and connections). There are really no inspiring people in my vicinity (I live in the capital of a small eastern-european country). The only thing to do around here is to buy a flat, buy a car, find a spouse, have kids and forget about all your former friends. Oh yeah, and drink heavily. That's our entire culture in a nutshell.
I am quite smart, but never went to college (our schooling system sucks and it's is very corrupt, just like the rest of the country). I worked only for corporations, wasting years and yeras of my life learning nothing. On top of tha I gained lots of weight recently (due to emotional overeating, of course), so I'm more tired than ever before.
My hopes from this posts are that someone will give me some magical advice I would follow, but I know that won't happen. Life doesn't work like that. But I'm glad for the opportunity to let it out a bit here.

So I made a solution of 50mL 20% vinegar and 50mL 3% hydrogen peroxide, and put some copper wires in it. It quickly started turning blueish, but I needed to go to training. So when I came back, it just became a brown, almost black liquid.... Why is that, and how could I solve it?
