We're in the middle of a large renovation and have decided that while we've got walls open, we want to remove the existing ADT system from the previous owner (never activated) and replace it with a new system.
The Qolsys IQ4 panel via Surety seems to be a good fit, but my primary concerns were around video integration.
As far as cameras, we're looking to hardwire 2x PoE cameras and 2x PoE doorbell cameras. While cost is a concern, I'm more concerned about recurring costs than the initial capital investment, but like everyone else, is looking for the best bang-for-your-buck with hardware.
From my understanding - the Qolsys IQ4, in a residential environment via ADC can only stream feeds from ADC cameras and doorbells. However, I've read some conflicting information that it may be possible to use non-ADC cameras that support ONVIF Profile S.
From a technical and value perspective, the ADC cameras seem quite underwhelming, at a much higher cost. Their POE doorbell camera has a poorer field of view and lower image quality than the Reolink at 3x the price. Cost aside, just seems like a much lower-end device. So I'm having a hard time justifying paying so much for crappier hardware.
However, I am not necessarily interested in video monitoring via ADC, but more or less the automation aspects of being able to see doorbell video via the panel itself. Is it possible to have this type of functionality without the ADC PoE doorbell (for instance, with a G4 Pro PoE from Ubiquiti or the Reolink 5MP PoE doorbell)? Or if I want video streaming functionality on the IQ4, am I basically stuck with ADC and their respective cameras?

Hi Everyone! Hopefully its ok to ask for this kind of advice, i apologise otherwise.
Id like to ask for some opinion please. I have a long distance family friend whos really struggling with depression lately and Ive been wondering if a tamagotchi/virtual pet could be a nice thing to give her to have something to do, or take care of , kind of something to keep her company. I think it would be her first time even trying a tamagotchi or virtual pet, so im a bit afraid it would be something left untouch.
I personally havent experienced clinical depression so I feel a bit helpless in not knowing how to help (especially with distance) , but had this idea, since tamas did help me at times with my own struggles . Hope im not being too naive.
What do you guys think? Would you have a specific model to recommend?
