2024.11.29 00:57 Tombshire Why would having supports that ARE "healbots" be a bad thing?
I'm a somewhat new player, but when i was looking into HOW to play the characters i like a few months ago, i went down the rabbithole of "support, not healer". Coming from games like team fortress 2, heroes of the storm, and other such games where "healer" is the dominant thing, overwatche's philosophy seems a strange one to me. i get that a lot of folks don't enjoy having your one and only focus be healing, but I've seen a lot of people state that if there were heroes who specialized their entire kit into pumping out high healing consistently, that would be a bad thing.
the main point of discussion id like to state is, if a support was added that for example, their skill expression was tied up IN THEIR HEALING which for most of the support caste it is not, their skill expression is largely elsewhere, would that be bad for the game? an example i will point to is medic's crossbow in team fortress two, where he can output a solid chunk of healing from way outside his usual range, but its a skillshot. in close range, its a more consistent burst heal where the skill expression is in consistently hitting that shot and cycling between beam and crossbow quickly.
iv'e found supports in overwatch to be very fun overall, i particularly enjoy illari, mercy, and brig (in that order) but what i find myself lacking on the hero roster is someone like medic, where it is not my job to make PLAYS persay, but to consistently provide large chunks of health to my teammates. i get that a large chunk of people play FPS games to- y'know- SHOOT the enemy team, but i don't understand the notion that if someone wanted to EXCLUSIVELY provide value by shooting their own team, that would be game destroying.
obviously im new and gold, so my game knowledge and knowledge of the design philosophy of overwatch isn't the best, but it irks me that the closest thing to exclusive "healer" characters on the roster are mercy and lifeweaver, both of which output sub par auto aim healing, with a focus on positioning and SAVES rather than healing.

I am extremely conflicted. I have been in Community College with the plan to get a Bachelor's in Applied Math, and then a Master's in Computer Science. I was looking at the benefits of the Master's Degree. Honestly, I can say that it does not look much more promising than just getting a Bachelor's in Computer Science rather than the complicated process aforementioned. I was pretty late to realize this, with transfer applications due soon for a 4-year University. What is bugging me is that I have been in community college for 2 years, this being my third. If I were to make this switch now, it would cost me another year in community college. I enjoy math, but it is easier to petition to double major for applied math while it is near impossible to add computer science as a second major choice. Would it be a good idea to sacrifice the extra year?

At first, it was great the other employees are nice, Iāve made a lot of work friends, and Iām saving up for a new phone. But my manager, Mike (fake name obv), i think heās in his late 30s? has started to make me feel really uncomfortable Ok, so it started with him complimenting my hair but I thought that was normal cuz everybody compliments my hair, and heād also talk about how āmatureā I look. Like he said if I asked for a drink he wouldnāt even ID me, which I think is total BS cuz my friends said I definitely looked too young when I offered to try and get them a bottle last week LOL But now heās started calling me āsweetheartā and ācutie,ā which kind of just makes me cringe, but I thought maybe he was just being overly friendly. But things are getting weird, like he started offering to drive me home after work. I have a 2014 Ford explorer that has a tone ring code that needs to be taken care of. I've looked everywhere for one and haven't been able to find a replacement. Ford parts, any of the chain stores, Google searches, all come back with things that don't fit. Anyone know where I can get one? Highly considering just risking it at the junk yard and grabbing the entire axel with the ring and popping it on.
