2024.11.29 02:00 Illustrious-Image776 Thoughts on open floor plans
I know over the past 20-30 years open floor plans have been hugely popular (in the US). I also see this trend in most floor plans that appear in this sub; the kitchen, dining and living are combined into one big space without any sort of division.
Why do people gravitate towards these? Are they more practical than the closed plan common 50+ years ago? Are they better geared towards entertaining and family? Do they ever get too noisy or chaotic?
I’m partial to a more closed plan because I like each room to have its own definition, and feel. Not to say one is better than the other - just trying to better understand people’s thoughts when they’re designing their houses.
Do folks here ever compromise by creating an open space where each room still retains its own definition? For example maybe stagger the kitchen partly off the living, or open via a breezeway/french door, divide by a walkway, etc. Same goes for an eating area - open but perhaps divided by shelves or a fireplace

I'm going to dye my hair for the first time ever and because I'm a huge PJO fan, I want to make it a nod to PJO. I'm thinking either green like Alex or blue because Percy, or both in a kind of two colour ombre, but I don't know which. At the moment I'm leaning towards the two colour ombre with green on the bottom but I'm curious as to what you guys think (my natural hair is very dark brown is that affects anything and I already have both colors of dye). I hope I've explained this in a way that gets everything across right, it's 2 in the morning for me right now.

Hello again, trans people of Reddit! I (NB26) started hrt recently, in fact tomorrow I will be one week on testosterone (🥳). About four days after taking my first dose, I noticed that my blood pressure has been higher, to the point where I’ve had to do the “put my head between my knees to stop feeling dizzy” trick a couple times at work. Now I knew that starting T could raise blood pressure, and for me even moreso because the men in my family have a history of needing blood pressure medication. But I didn’t think it would hit me so fast. I do routinely eat a lot of processed foods high in sodium. And in terms of stress I’m naturally a pretty anxious person but things haven’t been too bad lately. Though there’s been a slight increase since starting T, from wondering whether I should warn my younger brother who I’m close to that my parents will probably be disowning me in a few months.
So, is testosterone causing my sudden spike in blood pressure, or is it from sodium or stress or all of the above? Also, should I reach out to Planned Parenthood before my next appointment or would lifestyle changes be enough to manage it? The doctor I’m seeing is going to take my blood pressure at three months regardless, but should I call her before then? Since noticing my symptoms I’ve been trying to cut way back on my sodium, take more walks, and do more breathing exercises to help deal with stress. All feedback appreciated, thanks for your time!
