I saw the Dr. Phil interview a long time ago and I just watched the Netflix documentary. I've read things about the case randomly throughout the years but would not say I know it inside and out.
On a quick readthrough of this subreddit, it seems most people think that the family did it. Putting aside the whole DNA debate (cause that's a whole can of worms in and of itself), what motive would the parents or the brother have to kill her?
Also, the thing that struck me most about the case was the intricacy of the strangulation method. That took time, thinking, planning. The brother is automatically ruled out imo because of that. He was a child. He has shown no other signs of psychopathy that I know of. He did not invest that kind of thought and planning into it.
But the parents could still potentially be the murders. However, it suggests that whichever did it would've planned it. They did not come up with that in the moment - even serial killers refine their methods from victim to victim. The father seems most likely due to the sexual abuse element but I haven't seen any evidence to suggest that JBR showed symptoms of being sexually abused or any evidence to suggest the father was suspicious in this manner prior to the murder. I have only heard the pediatrician's interview on the Netflix documentary but if there was sexual abuse, I imagine he might've suspected something at some point.
With the information that I have, I'm inclined to believe it wasn't the family. I'm not sure I buy the intruder theory as it's been laid out for other reasons, but it just doesn't seem like there's enough evidence to suggest a family member did it. Since so many here seem convinced that it was the family, how do you explain away the lack of sexual abuse evidence prior to murder and the intricacy of the planning required for this type of strangulation?
Also, there is one thing that does point to the family for me: the ransom note. It was far too lengthy and detailed. It's odd. The rest of the evidence still doesn't square up to the family for me but the ransom note is very, very odd. And again, her brother, a child at the time, did not write that imo. Show me a 9 year old that writes like that in terms of sentence structure and word choice.

I've been dealing with bad histamine issues, gut motility, digestive and neurological issues related to sibo and dysbiosis. But recently was suggested a b1 supplement to potentially help alongside treatments, which has quickly given me quite a bit of relief.
I'm also MTHFR A1298C Heterozygous, I'm wondering if this could be at play and if a methyl-b complex or anything alike is worth trying? Or anything else to look into?
Recent relevant tests I've done have showed: Homocysteine 6.3 umol [<15\] b12 503 pmol \[>150] Folate 20 nmol, [>7] Vitamin D 72 nmol, [low and have been supplementing w d3 and k2 since] Copper 12.3 [lowish] Zinc 15.4 umol
Any thoughts would be appreciated!

“Two years ago, I was called into the office because someone in my grade suggested I had “doxxed” them (I had posted about my personal experience with them, and did post a link to their pubic Instagram acc which I admit wasn’t okay. I didn’t post their birth certificate, where they live, or anything else of the sort. The person had actually threatened to fight me, and have their little brother fight my ex boyfriend, before I posted about them - months beforehand, in January 2022. My ex didn’t want me to take it to the office. I posted about them, I think, in summer 2022. The principal told me that I was facing suspension, and said the girl was out in the halls waiting to fight me. I was 17, she was 18. She said I owed the girl an apology. When I met girl in office, she and the dean made me apologize. The other woman didn’t have to apologize.
Months later, after I had turned 18, the woman sent me these messages threatening to fight me again (April 2023 at this point): ‘Dont think that I haven't forgotten about your predator ass!’ ‘You better pray and hope I don't catch yo ass out somewhere’ and ‘Cause I promise you that ass in feigning for’.” I did let the office know, she had switched schools and was on independent study by that point. Dean suggested potentially filing a police report. The woman was nearing 19 at this point.
The principal has on her Facebook profile that she supports Kamala Harris (‘I’m with her.’) The woman she sided with actually made fun of Kamala Harris recently, and follows Donald Trump. This is who the principal sided with, in my mind.”
