My family member has been working at the same company for 24 years. The company when he started had 200 employees and then over the years they made some business mistakes and kept getting smaller and smaller. My family member has been working here and giving it his all, often praised by the owner that he is the smartest man he knows.
Well about a week ago they lost a big client of theres and the owner of the company called my family member to tell him that he essentially has no money left and will find him another job to work for one of his old clients.
The job is nothing like what he does, is in office and pays about half his salary now.
The owner is telling him he is trying to help but im unsure if this just is a ploy to not pay severance? Can he even get severance if the owner really doesn’t have any money left?
What is the best way of going forward here? Should my family member do the interview?
The company is based out of ontario but the owner has moved abroad and rarely comes back.
TLDR: owner claims company running out of money and is trying to get family member to leave position without sending a notice.

It was about 24 hours prior to my making this post. I was parked at a public parking garage, that was sparsely occupied with about 10 cars including mine parked there. I was waiting for my mother to be done with her appointment so we could go on our way home. It was a fine day till then, when a person in their baleno decided it was time to ruin my peace of mind. There was ample space for the driver to reach the exit, my car perfectly within the limits of the corresponding parking bay, but the Baleno driver decked the rear of my car. Naturally I confronted the person, whose sheer lack of accountability surprised me. There was no other car active or running while this incident occurred, and the driver denied all responsibility and rather blamed me for parking inside the garage and said it bound to happen.
I was willing to let go of the incident, had the driver simply gotten out of their car, apologised, shared their contact details and been on their way. But no, this absolute gem of a person decided to chuck all accountability out the window, blamed me, and refused to acknowledge their fault. Infuriated with the driver’s attitude, I called the cops as the driver was attempting to flee the scene.
Upon reaching home, it got me thinking; why do Indian drivers refuse to accept their faults and mistakes? A person is more likely to be forgiven if they sincerely apologise, but people would rather gas-light the other person rather than acknowledge their mistakes.
I apologise for ranting, but I had to get it off my chest.

We have pc in my office and anydesk is installed on it. Anydesk is majorly used by IT guys in my office in case if employees are facing software issue so that we can give them access to solve the query. In my office attendance is marked using company's portal as i am an intern my monitor is not tracked unlike me seniors and we have to complete 9 hours in the office. I have enabled full access to my cell phone in office anydesk and now i am thinking to mark my attendance while at home so that i can come late as there is no biometric monitoring in my office. But as the anydesk id in my pc is of my office credentials so can they monitor my anydesk connection history to check for proxies. I wanted to prepare for another job but cannot take leaves everyday so i was thinking of coming late and leaving early. And no one GAF about interns. so no problem of my seniors scoulding me about office presense.
So can i get caught due to my connection history of anydesk??
