2024.11.29 09:40 IGotPIPed If you had to share a lane, do you pick someone faster than you, slower than you, or same speed as you? Because I'm slow as fuck and fast swimmers always ask to share a lane with me lol
I started swimming 6 months ago for exercise after sustaining a serious knee injury last year. So I'm pretty new, and slow.
I work for a university so have access to its gyms and wonderful aquatic center where I swim. I mostly swim after work like most people but I work east coast hours so I usually get to the pool before it gets packed during the usual 5 pm rush. So I haven't had to approach someone to share a lane yet.
Now I don't at all mind sharing lanes, it's part of the game. And I always establish with the person if we're splitting or circling. So I haven't had any issues. In fact some have been nice enough to give me tips on my technique.
However each time someone has approached me to share a lane, that person is way faster than me. Most times they lap my slow ass lol. There's been times where I feel I'm getting in their way so I try to swim faster which tires me out and then I swim even slower.
Now my pool has 19 lanes. Sometimes the pool is so packed and every lane is being split by two people, so you take what you can get, that I understand. But most of the time, yeah all 19 lanes are taken, but not as packed with only a couple lanes being split, yet people still approach me to split which I happily oblige.
For instance, what happens a lot is I'm swimming in a lane and another swimmer (person A) in the lane to the right of me is way faster than me. Then another swimmer (person B) approaches my lane to share and I agree. But the person B is swimming at the same speed as person A. So wouldn't it have been more ideal for person B to share a lane with person A?
Now it could just come down to the fact that there's more experienced swimmers than new ones so the odds of sharing a lane with someone faster than me is higher than someone at my speed. But the above situation has happened to me a lot.
So if I ever have to approach someone to share a lane, which I will have to eventually, how should I choose who to share a lane with? Most posts on this sub say to go with someone at equal speed. But from my experience, should I go with someone faster? Or am I just overthinking this?

I love Pacifica and took my family to Sharp Park for Thanksgiving today. We had reservations, but the food service was so chaotic that we did not get to order and eat until more than 1.5 hours after we sat down.
On top of that, 2 out of the 3 waitresses we had were condescending and rude. The restaurant ran out of prime rib and couldn’t even serve our party of 4 at the same time. When I asked about the order for the 4th member of our family, the lack of courtesy was stunning.
I also noticed there were basic things like entranceway lights that were dark (at night), and a terrible bathroom situation.
Overall I feel like this restaurant is in severe decline. Others have said that it will close in a few years to be developed into a higher end golf course /restaurant.
Does anyone know anything about this?

I (21m) was going through my partner’s phone because she (21f) had some old screenshots of documents I needed to get my passport. I couldn’t find them so I decided to check the deleted folder because she tends to delete her old photos to free up some storage. What I saw was a few short videos of her and I’m guessing her ex doing sexual things and I immediately threw up and started shaking bad. On an iPhone it tells you how many days a photo has until it’s been wiped completely and it had 17 days left. And if I’m not mistaken when you first delete a photo, it has 30 days.
We’ve been dating for around 4 months and we’ve known each other for a little over 6. I don’t think the math is adding up at all. But now I can’t get what I saw out of my head and I constantly feel like I have to throw up. And it’s been an issue because for the last couple of days, I haven’t been able to kiss her or show her any form of physical intimacy without my stomach and heart feeling extremely weird.
Is something wrong with me? Or is this normal? And what can I do to get this nightmare over with and continue our relationship?
(Also we’ve had plenty of conversations about going through each other’s phone and we both came to an agreement that we should be able to do that without being concerned about finding something.)
