So, here’s my life right now. I’m 29, and have three years of a four year degree. I have almost no work experience to speak of (though I do have a job, and a license to become an EMT), no credit, and a bunch of health issues.
I’ve recently taken an honest look at my situation, and stopped beating myself up for a bunch of things that either weren’t my fault (a badly timed mental health crisis that required intervention and derailed my academic career, a global pandemic, a fucking brain tumor that made me unable to learn or retain specifically the subject of my original degree) or that are already over and beating myself up over them won’t change anything (I could have gone back to school sooner after my first health crisis, I could’ve put effort into getting work). This is progress! Accept the things you can’t change or whatever. But my situation still is, I’m underemployed, I need to finish my degree and probably an additional degree to work where I want (medicine), I have no credit and very little money, and I’m dependent on several medications to keep myself both alive and capable of working.
I want to put my life together; I want to contribute, I want to marry my partner, I don’t want to keep depending on my family at age fucking thirty. So… where do I start? How do I generally untangle my mess?
