We (Americans) would use 'at' for a festival, party, gathering, etc. For holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc., we can use 'on' for the day (or add the word 'day'), but we use 'at' for the period, allowing time for preparing gifts, food, and decorations, and for travel. – Part of the reason for this may be that for some Americans Christmas consists only of the 25th, whilst in Britain, as one American ex-pat. put it to me, "Christmas in the UK seems like 4th July, GW's birthday, Thanksgiving, and American Christmas all rolled into one." Honestly, it might not be that bad. I have a good amount of friends. I go out with them often. Like once a week but i don’t know, i feel like there’s something missing. So a little school break we have here in my country started in early november and i’ve went out with my friends 5 times since then & i had fun but the times where i hang out with my family or just rot in bed all day i feel like a total loser for some reason??? I don’t know why like i promise i have friends and alot of them and i love them all very much but i don’t know…. I feel like i’m not experiencing the “Teenage dream” or whatever. I turned 16 in september so I know I still have a long way to go in life but i can’t help but feel like i’m not really experiencing anything. I have never been in a relationship and i don’t really do anything besides watch movies read books & hangout with my friends and I don’t have ANY guy friends so there isn’t even any chance for me to initiate any relationship or anything. My last REAL crush was when I was 9 years old and ever since then all the “crushes” I’ve had lasted like 2 days or something. I don’t know how to get rid of this feeling…..I have a good life. I get good grades, I have friends that I can’t live without , my family’s great but there’s just this void. I don’t know honestly. What advice would you give me? I know this is such a small problem so I figured no one would understand me other than people i don’t know that probably live very far away from where i am :).

2024.11.29 10:40 Objective_Soft_5566 Sleep tips for when you can't control the environment?
So, I'm in a situation where I have to sleep on a couch in the same room as my grandmother to help her get to the bathroom at night. Sometimes she get up only once at night. And sometimes she gets up once an hour. But even on her good nights, I just can't fall asleep sometimes. The room is kept at 72 degrees. Which is alot hotter than I like it. And I am unable to use a fan. I usually try and sleep with an icepack against my body, and that seems to help sometimes. But even then, sometimes i just lay up all night unable to go to sleep. Idk if its the anticipation of whether she's going to get up or not. Or if its something else. Any tips would be helpful thanks

Hi everyone,
I’m applying for Canada’s Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) and could use some advice.
I had a gap in my studies during the winter 2020 semester because I experienced a mental health crisis and returned to my home country (Vietnam) in December 2019. My school approved my leave of absence for winter 2020 and I have documentation for my anxiety disorder diagnosis.
I planned to return to Canada as soon as possible, but COVID-19 travel restrictions prevented me from doing so. Instead, I resumed my studies online in fall 2020 full time, returning and doing my program by fall 2021 and completed my degree successfully.
Now, I’m worried that the gap might affect my PGWP application. I’m preparing an explanation letter but want to make sure it’s strong enough to support my case.
Does anyone know if this gap is likely to be an issue? If so, could you recommend a good immigration consultant or lawyer who has experience with cases like this?
Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
