I've seen a lot of grumbling around S2 that seems to take it for granted that it's somehow a diminishment for Vi to perform oral on Caitlyn.
Paraphrasing, people are framing this scene as if it enshrines Vi as a sort of secondary status partner in their dynamic. ("And what's the first thing she does? Gets on her knees and gives Caitlyn head of course!")
Folks, I cannot stress enough that this is Not It.
I can't and won't speak to straight or gay male oral sex politics, but it is absolutely not the dynamic involved here and if you're letting any lesbian you know see you say stuff like that you should think long and hard about it, urgently.
Whether you realize it or not, the implication is that it is you consider it somehow debasing or subservient for us to make love to our girlfriends. I know this is an inevitable effect of absolutely mush brained top/bottom discourse, but that is just not how it works, and it is more than a little insulting and insensitive to apply this reading.
Not to TMI, but generally speaking, giving and receiving cunnilingus is an exchange of different forms of trust and vulnerability first and foremost.
At the same time you're letting this person give you pleasure, you're having to put yourself and pretty much your whole body physically at their mercy and disposal; in exchange, they're trusting you to let them in and - not to be too flowery about it - cradle them in you, and look out for the both of you while their focus is necessarily rather narrowed. And all of this has to work while you can both only really communicate non verbally.
It's not any kind of dominance and submission thing (unless you want it to be), it is a mutual thing that works because you're both having to figure out how to give and take the whole time for the both of you.
As an aside, not to be too old and preachy, but apart from how shitty the innuendo towards lesbian relationships in particular is when it's framed the way it has been in some of these conversations, it just really worries me generally that sex always seems to be interpreted through the lens of a zero sum game, where there's always a winner and a loser, or a first and a second.

Hi! I’m looking for great quality headphones for an autistic friend of mine. I want to buy it off amazon because I don’t drive. My budget is no more $50. 2024.11.29 10:30 7layeredAIDS Governor’s School outsider perspective: Millennial Generation reflections
I was a NOVA millennial. I went to the same school “system” from kindergarten through HS. I was, from an academic standpoint, a great student and was pushed heavily by our school’s admin to enroll in governor’s school when the time came. I should clarify and say my parents were the ones “encouraged” but ultimately decided it wouldn’t be a good fit for me.
From my perspective there were a handful of kids my age that I had gone to school with since kindergarten that were the “gifted program” students. We were the ones that they offered some elementary special math and reading programs to. We were ‘friends’ by association. Our parents all knew the other parents from over a decade of seeing their kids. Many of them enrolled in GS. The narrative I was fed from my parents one in high school is it was this geeky program, I’d have to get up extra early, and the classes were super hard for like no reason. I ended up being an AP & DE class taker, joined a few clubs, and was in band all 4 years (who’s the nerd now?!)
Fast forward to college enrollment. I only applied out of state and my parents asked 4 out of state admissions folks about governor’s school and none of them had any clue what they were talking about. They did say my AP and DE credits would be great to have. I think my parents felt validated in their decision to not enroll me. I would go on and have a successful university track and career.
I look back on those times now. What did I miss out on? Has governor’s school changed? Is it still being pushed and what is the sell point? Is it now more nationally recognized? Has anyone here from my generation gone and realized any benefit? Any buyer’s remorse? I google it now and it honestly sounds like a good program with things like fun arts related opportunities. But from a practical standpoint are you just loading up with work for no benefit at the college level?
