Hey everyone :) I would really appreciate some advice on this situation.
My younger brother (in his early 20ies) had started going out and drinking with friends once he started uni a few years ago. I'm not trying to judge at all. I'm just super worried. I sure have had my share of drunken nights that got a bit out of hand as well when I was his age.
The difference is though, that I learned where my limit was at some point, and his consumption just seems very out of control a lot of times. Sometimes he calls me in the middle of the night, or sends me very incoherent voice notes that, once every blue moon might be a bit amusing, but with the frequency it happens, i just find it worrying. Once he was at a public event and the police called me because he was so drunk that he didn't remember the adress of the friend he was sleeping at. The next day he didn't remember it. There have been a lot of instances like that, where he got super black out drunk, not remembering how he got where he woke up in the morning or what actually happened etc. It's also super difficult to get ahold of him sometimes. He doesn't answer calls, doesn't respond to texts and just seems pretty withdrawn when he's not out with friends. We don't live close to each other so checking on him is not really a possibility. All i can do is talk to him, pretty much.
i've had conversations with him about this in the past and he does agree that there is a problem, it's just that he isn't really doing anything about it. I obviously get that that is not how addicitons work lol but it's just quite frustrating to watch. He's super closed off about his emotions and mental health. Without wanting to get into too much detail, he definitely didn't have an easy childhood and adolescense. I think there's a lot of things he's just refusing to acknowledge and instead drowns them in alcohol.
Another problem is that he gets quite a lot of financial support from our mum whenever he asks for it. She can afford it and she's supported all of us through uni. It's only fair she helps him out as well, but whereas me and my sister knew to appreciate it and not ask for too much (we also worked while studying which he is not doing) he seems to be taking it for granted. My mum also admits to having spoiled him too much growing up. So, he basically has unlimited funds to go out to expensive clubs with his friends and just get super drunk like all the time. this is not about the fact that my mum supports him, or that he doesn't have to work, it's absolutely fantastic that he has that privilege, I just think it's funding his unhealthy habit and gives him no pressing reason to stop. She has talked about cutting his allowance down drastically but she never actually goes through with it.
I'd love for him to go to therapy, or at least to talk to us but, as is expected, the more we press, the more he pulls away.
Except talking to him, I don't really know what else to do. Maybe anyone here has some advice?

I live with my parents. Lost my job due to chronic depression related to family and relationship issues. Went under treatment for depression due to alcoholism. Almost recovered, was pushed into stop taking depression medicine. Went back to alcoholism. Now financial support is being pulled. All this while I was being fed unknown homeopathic medicine despite after refusing said medication. Can I take action against my parents for forcing decisions and medication by crippling my independence? Or should I just move out? Also still I want them to be held accountable for their actions.

Hi! I’ve been doing my own regular nail polish for years. I’ve dabbled in gel here and there but mostly don’t do it more than 1-2x per year for vacations since removal wrecks my natural nails. I would love to do more of my own gel at home, and want to make sure to get a good, solid lamp, in addition to peel off base coat to avoid damage.
I have a variety of brands in gel including beetles, sensationail, and have a huge DND order incoming, so I want a lamp that will work with most brands. Note though that after spending 2 hours researching at 4am, I will be immediately throwing out all of my beetles and probably sensationail just to be safe.
I am eyeballing the Kokoist Infinity. Would people on this sub recommend that for a beginner purchase? Thanks in advance!

I'd like some advice on my weighted backpack and whether I'm doing any long-term damage.
Personal deets Weight: 11.1 st (As of last check) Height: 5’10 Age 49
BMR: 1600 (inactive) 2600-2800 (active) Hello.
I walk about 30-35 miles a week. I eat well, that is to say nutritionally I'm hitting a lot of the markers and some of the macro nutrients too.
I walk for about 2 hours, usually two days on, one day 'off' although that will often include a 4-mile walk (there and back) to the shops. My backpack is currently around 5kg (I think) There are three 1 litre bottles of water in there and I carry my 1.5 litre bottle of fruit juice/water to take it to 4.5kg and there are other odds and sods in there too, so I round it up. I plan to take the back to 7 or 8kg but for my age and weight I think the upper limit is 10kg so I'll likely stop before I get there.
I did a 3.5 mile yesterday with a 10kg backpack and I knew about it when I got home. Hard to tell how I feel though as I relaxed and drank a bottle of wine last night.
My concern is with regard to the weight I might be putting on my joints.

Good morning.
So Steam got some sales and three of the games I want to play are on sale.
Which is: Harry Potter Legacy; Ghost of Tsushima and RDR2.
I know all the games are way different between eacothers, yet I love all 3.
The problem lies on my time to games nowadays, I now RDR2 is timeless top notch game yet it seems to get stale and slow pacing for a while. I dont have 3 hours per day to sit and enjoy games anymore, sadly.
I even got GTA 5 which I was so excited for to not even play a full hour..
So, RDR2 the problem is only the time needed to invest of the game.
GoT sounds amazing, the art, the gameplay and the story.
Harry Potter, is my childhood movie and books, seems like a quick and cozy game.
Any suggestions?
