About a year ago, I co-founded a business with two friends. We started everything from scratch—brainstorming ideas, securing financing, and putting in countless hours of work. The business has grown significantly and is projected to generate around €400,000 in revenue this year.
Here’s the general breakdown:
- No rent.
- No employees or salaries (just the three of us).
- Products are bought for €1.50 and sold for €15.
- Most sales come from TikTok Live.
- Additional costs like packaging, shipping, and ads exist, but I don’t know the exact numbers since I’ve been locked out of all accounts.
- We sell a consumable product that customers repurchase regularly and already have a WhatsApp group with over 700 enthusiastic fans of the brand.
This business was my life for the past year. I poured my heart, soul, and personal funds into building it.
Unfortunately, we never formalized anything in writing—there’s no partnership agreement or any other legal document outlining roles, contributions, or exit terms. This makes it even harder for me to figure out what’s fair and to protect my interests.
Some of my concerns:
- I don’t have access to the current financials, so I don’t know the exact profit margins.
- I’m worried they might undervalue my contributions or manipulate the numbers to reduce my share.
- I tend to avoid conflict, and I’m afraid I might settle for less than what I deserve.
- How do I determine a fair settlement? Should it be based on revenue, profit, or something else?
- Since I don’t have full access to the current financials, what would you consider a fair amount to ask for in my situation?

Me ( f23) . Him ( m23) met online, dated from July, had a fight in August. After a month of no talking he said he wanted to date again because he likes me. I agreed.
But from September to November he is always busy. He only made time to see me once after work around 11pm( I turned down because it was too late).
I know him being busy is not an excuse because 1. He promised me many times it is not an excuse and he gets mad one time when I asked him” are you stringing me along ?” , even on our dates back in July and August he postponed work to see me, and on his birthday he worked til 1 am and only ordered a burger to eat.
Yesterday I asked him are you not free the entire December then? He said not sure, probably not free.
I am confused as he wanted to date me and he promised it is not an excuse. But we don’t even talk much on the phone, and we don’t get to see each other often.
I really liked him, but should I wait til January?
