The recent moomoo money master competition premiering on YouTube under TSL is full of discrepancies, I am referring to the EP 2 monopoly game specifically. It is solely planned by TSL staff. I was one of the contestants in this monopoly game and there were several major lapses in the calculations and rules that my team addressed with TSL after the game ended. I am writing to inform everyone watching this episode of how incompetent and dishonest TSL is when it comes to planning and hosting a game show, as well as exposing the unjustified and biased rules of this monopoly game. I was told that this monopoly game is organised solely by TSL.
Here are all the discrepancies that I have collated:
- The deciding factor to win this game is the top 2 teams with the highest percentage growth of their portfolio, and the rules that were given to us at the start stated investment returns, which by definition includes capital gains. Everyone was not told that capital gains was excluded as we cheered when the other teams landed on the tile that previous teams landed on, which means the stock price unit is higher if they were to purchase it. We were only told that capital gains was not involved when we played halfway through the game. If there is no capital gain, only dividends and chance cards make profit. There is no difference if the price of the stock changes after subsequent players land on the same tile when dividends are % based. The optimal strategy is simply all-in the stock with the highest dividends and the team will have the highest % growth in the end.
- For the monopoly game, the team with the highest asset goes last, and the fact that only percentage growth of the portfolio is considered, the team with the highest initial asset going last is a disadvantage as % change is lower for higher initial assets. So technically the logic of the optional pre-monopoly game is that the team should give a wrong answer to get a lower asset in order to gain an advantage, which surely is flawed.
- The rules kept changing during the game and it was not following the original as stated on the screen. For e.g., they changed from using 1 dice to 2 dice to expedite the progress, which affected every team’s % distribution. The number of rounds being cut from 10 to 5 also affected every team's distribution. Everyone only had 10 minutes to read through 2 slides of words and they expected us to remember everything.
- The answers for the chance questions regarding net asset value (NAV) and progressive tax models were inaccurate and ambiguous (though the specifics cannot be remembered). The stock prices that were delivered to us were also all over the place and we had to correct them several times, as though there was no track record. The organiser reported the wrong stock price several times which some of us were paying attention to and corrected them, as they delivered the same stock price (which was supposed to be higher) even though the team landed on the same tile that was previously taken by another team.
Furthermore, all of us contestants had a discussion after the game ended and everyone unanimously agreed that the exclusion of capital gains was unjustified, and this was before the results were out as we had to wait a while for TSL to calculate the results. Right before the results were announced, we were told by one of the organisers that he “heard” our concerns about capital gains being excluded from the game which was clearly unfair. He simply brushed us off by saying the organising team will calculate the results including the capital gains as well to see if there was any significant difference in the outcome, but on that day the results will not include the capital gains for every team’s portfolio and it would be final. Like seriously? We did not hear from him again, and I 100% think it will be a completely different outcome if capital gains was included.
TSL must not get away easily with all their cover-ups and excuses now that this game show is uploaded here. TSL is taking advantage of the non-disclosure agreement to seal our mouths and they have repeatedly emphasised that it is up to their discretion to make any decisions. I wonder if we as contestants weren’t allowed to speak up about the nonsensical game rules, then what are we competing on in the first place? TSL even told us they will follow up on our concerns which until now there is no news at all. They have greatly tarnished their reputation from this monopoly game and this comment is a heads up for anyone thinking of joining a game show hosted by them in the future.

just want to say i know this is for dental hygienist school and that’s not what i’m talking about but hoping you guys look past that. let me give you a backstory, i’m from australia and i dropped out of school in year 10 but technically went to year 11 just never completed it, i’ve always been not the smartest cookie i would say a C student and when i got to year 11 i was falling behind in everything so i left, i am now 19 and wanting to do a course. However i’ve always been worried about starting something im not smart enough for.. i had bad teeth growing up and had braces and now my teeth are great!! here’s the thing my mental health hasn’t always been the best i go through depressive states that have left me not to complete courses in the past and i’ve spent the last couple of years trying to work on my mental health, i would say im better now but not 100% as my grandpa past last year that i lived with my whole life and i think ive started to go backwards. here’s the thing i really want to be qualified in something as im over working these casual random jobs and want something more serious, but what if im not smart enough, what if my mental health gets bad again and i can’t do it… the course im looking at is 1 whole year could i even commit myself to something for so long it’s also says i have 2 do 350 hours of supervised work they also have an online course but you need to find somewhere to get that training but also 300hours, 350 hour one is both in person and they employee you not sure if you get payed or not.. anyway my question is even if youre not the smartest cookie is this a course you already have to be smart for to learn or can you learn even if not the smartest please let me know.
