i keep seeing posts here asking for gift recommendations for med students and I usually reply to these because as a kapwa broke med girlie, sobrang appreciated ko ung mga regalo that i get for free and really show how much they understand both my needs and wants. so, I decided to compile all my suggestions and add possible links where you can buy so your loved ones in medicine can get cool and practical gifts <3 sakto lang din for christmas if you're looking for ideas pa na hindi lang notebook, textbook, or steth hehe
disclaimer lang that being in medicine doesn’t mean they will want medicine-related items hahaha. baka obvious to pero if they also have other interests, they might prefer things for their hobbies or other parts of their life. they might also already own some of these or prefer other brands.
other disclaimers: wala po akong affiliate links and I have not tried all these products specifically. babanggitin ko lang po kapag binili at ginamit ko mismo from that store.
technology
- Logitech K3660 keyboard
- The odds are may iPad or tablet na siya. This is a portable keyboard that’s super lightweight, portable, and has a battery that lasts forever (Haven’t replaced my batteries in over a year na). I was worried this would be overhyped, but it holds up to every good review I’ve seen about it. So worth it, and for a fraction of the price of the Magic Keyboard.
- Logitech K3660 keyboard case
- Kung may keyboard na siya and walang case, this could be a cute gift! I just got this one but you can probably get a customized one as well.
- USBs
- Surprised at how much I still needed or benefited from having a USB in medical school. Any will do pero I like the ones na may Type C na side so I can easily transfer to iPad or phone.
- Apple Pencil tips
- I wore out my Apple Pencil tip one year into using it almost everyday and napansin ko agad kasi kita na yung gray ng dulot at flat na siya. The Gojodoq tips have more grip and are softer, so its easier to write on a regular iPad with them. However, I would NOT recommend these if you have a Paperlike screen protector kasi mapupudpod agad (and it appears red + hard to write with na), so I would personally go back to buying an Apple pencil tip na lang.
- Paperlike screen protector
- I got mine at a local store, pinadikit ko na rin para di ko iiisipin kung pano ba ilalagay. Hahahaha. Note: If you get them this screen protector tapos Gojodoq ung tip ng pencil nila, mapupudpod agad yan. If they have paperlike screen protector, it is best to stick to the Apple pencil tips.
- iPad/tablet case
- Mura lang and a good gift, especially if they’ve been looking for one talaga!
- Printer
- I would highlyyyy recommend this lalo na if they mention it and don’t have one yet. Sawa na rin ako magpaprint sa labas eh.
- Bluetooth earphones/Headphones
- It took me so long to get on bluetooth earphones kasi gusto ko talaga yung wires pero omg the convenience??? Tapos ang ganda rin ng Baseus WM01 earphones, tinancha ko ng sale so I could buy it for 500ish tas ang ganda ng quality and ang tibay. Highly recommend buying a good case para di magasgas pero I dropped mine down some stone stairs, literal na ilang steps sya bumagsak tas buhay and okay pa rin. Good audio quality and color selection and di natatanggal sa tenga kahit pinapangjogging ko. Battery also lasts me one to two weeks depending on usage. Can’t praise this enough!!
- Steth Tag
- Personally, wala akong ganto but I heard it’s a big deal sa ibang med school din. Would also be nice para di sila mawalan ng steth, ang mahal din eh haha
- ID holder
- Dalawang beses na nasira ID holder ko and I would love a gift like this please. Maraming magandang design sa Shopee pero recommend ko rin Hodge Podge
- Inhaler
- Pangkalma during exams and more importantly pang cadaver lab kapag masaydo matapang ang formaline. Pwede na ung sa Vicks pero meron din sa Shopee
- Steth Case
- Kung bibili sila ng steth chances are wala pa din silang steth case. Bilhin mo sila pero tanong mo muna kung meron.
- Med Bag + Keychains
- Ewan ko ba pero napapangitan kasi ako sa med bag ko na black lang tapos pare-pareho pa kaming lahat. A lot of people told me they were planning on getting a bag in a nicer color para mas madali i-distinguish at hanapin kinabitan ko lang akin ng keychain). One person mentioned they really like the transparent ones din.
- Book or iPad stand
- Sobrang gusto ko ng ganto tbh wala pa din ako marerecommend kasi wala pa din ako ganto pero peronally I'd like the big wooden kind para nasusupport talaga ung book
- Deli pens
- This is the top pen recommended on this sub kasi mura pero sosyal naman. Haven’t tried but am definitely planning to lalo na sa clerkship
- Whiteboard
- Whether maliit lang na pang-desk o malaki na pang wall, your med student would love this for cramming their exams on the night before!! Tanong mo na lang sila kung ano gusto nilang size hehe.
- Books
- Not textbooks, but specifically these titles:
- Some Days You Can’t Save Them All by Dr. Ronnie E. Baticulon
- Surgeons Do Not Cry by Ting Tiongco
- When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi
- Very good reads for medical students and highly recommended din. I arranged this in order of my personal recommendations and highly, highly recommend purchasing local books first to support the local publishing industry <3

- Grabe ang cute nito and super laki pa! I dont use this as often but I got so many compliments when I used it and it’s so useful pa!

- Alam mo na.
- Nice claw clips
- If they have long hair and like using this, baka nasiraan na sila hahaha I use these often and I’m so sad pag nasisira agad so they might appreciate a nice claw clip na hindi agad nasisira for the long study sessions
- Analog watch
- para di sila ma-late, pero more importantly pangtake sa pulse rate ng pasyente. i like this one from love hope faith

- Dami ko na nakitang may gantong keychain hahaha cute naman

- I keep seeing this steth necklace which is nice! Personally not for me as an inaallergy agad sa neck, but it’s lovely !!

- Mahal to pero pangarap ko talaga ung Ikea na adjustable standing desk for the ergonomics habang nag-aaral haha shet

- Ang unhealthy ko na sa pagupo ko araw-araw para mag-aral at pangarap ko rin magkaroon ng ganto. Pag nagbabasa ako ng review maganda daw yung mga galing Xiaomi

I've got an issue where I'm looking to scan a barcode into a field within a chrome tab.
When the field is getting focus, my android device is opening the on screen keyboard by default.
I don't want the on screen keyboard to open by default, but I do want the ability to show the keyboard optionally, i.e. if the barcode isn't scanning.
I've checked accessibility options, I can't seem to find anything.
I've tried some 3rd party keyboards but can't find this functionality.
Does anyone know how I can achieve this?

2024.11.29 13:30 Dependent_Movie4148 therapist was reporting to my abuser
basically what the title says. after every session, i would sit in the waiting room while my dad went in to "pay" my T. I assume this is when she'd tell him whatever I said. When I'd get home Id hide in my room for a couple minutes until my dad could talk to my mom (my abuser), who'd then come around to yell and scream and beat me and break my things for telling people "outside the family". She would also know any and all insecurities or guilts i disclosed to my therapist, and would use the them to hurt me emotionally. I learned pretty quickly that i couldnt tell my therapist anything and that my abuser is always listening, so within the first two months i stopped talking about things altogether. every session: im fine, everythings good, i feel great, i dont feel like i need to be in therapy anymore. eventually that worked and they stopped sending me altogether.
now im an adult and i really need to go back to therapy. the effects of the abuse really fucked me up and interfere with me living a normal life. but idk how i could feel comfortable with a therapist again. i used to dread sitting in that room, and worse the ride home, knowing what awaited me. im afraid if i talk to a therapist theyll tell my mom somehow, and the abuse will start again. idk what to do but i cant live like this. i feel like i need therapy before i can go to therapy :/

Bro half the season 2 doesnt make any sense. I keep seeing reels of people calling it perfect show and how imdb all episode are 9+ rating just shows how cooked viewers are lmao. Season 2 is full of pacing issues and plot holes and it just doesnt make sense a lot of the times. Why did ambessa suddenly wanna hunt warwick? Makes no sense if she just wanted to kill him. Why did viktor suddenly go crazy and do a 180? Dont know. Why did heimdinger had to sacrifice himself for ekko to come back? Just cus show runners decided that it will look cool and tragic. Why did isha try to kill warwick? Literally was not required, had no effect on anything apart from looking like a tragic sacrifice. What was ambessa trying to gain from viktor tuning everyone into puppets? Literally nothing cus she herself would be a puppet and she isnt so dumb to just go to war without seeing the end goal so they basically showed as if she was dumb to not realize whats gonna happen. Literally so many unreasonable things. The show is extremely fun to watch, has great animation and music but is no where near "peak fiction" or "greatest animated show" or anything even close to that lmao.

My Mom cooked two ducks for our Thanksgiving Day dinner. She tried to carve the birds, but was struggling. So, my brother stepped in to help and realized that the knife she was using was dull. So he reached in his pants pocket and pulls out his POCKET KNIFE! He opens up the blade, swipes it across his jeans, and proceeds to buring the blade deep into the breast of the bird! “Before you go any further, can you at least wash off your knife?” I asked. He ignored me and kept cutting. “Seriously, you aren't going to wash your knife?” I said again. He then turned to me, looked me straight in the eye and yelled at the top of his lungs “FUCK YOU!!! I'M SICK OF YOU AND IM NOT GOING TO PUT UP WITH YOU ANYMORE!!” He stormed out of the kitchen, grabbed his coat and proceeded to walk home.
I guess my question is, was I wrong for asking him to wash his pocket knife before cutting into our food???
