I've noticed that in some parts of my WIP (high fantasy in a fictional world modeled on medieval Europe), I have used words that are too modern for my genre. For example, what can I use in place of the bolded words below?
- The Prince greeted the guards: "Hi, guys." (The Prince has a laid-back personality, which is why he talks informally to the guards. Is people or fellows a good replacement for guys? Any other ideas?)
- (One servant says to another.) "Want us to hang out later?" (Any good, less modern, replacement for hang out?)

Hi guys! First of all, loving the new change after shifting from Apple. To save on battery, I've switched off background app refresh. But now my apple music is turning off automatically, also while using WhatsApp calls, as soon as I exit the call the microphone is turning off automatically. Kindly suggest ways to solve this. Thanks!

I've been binging all of the horror franchises I couldn't possibly watch in the 80's when I was a child (I'm telling my age I know lol)
I've binged out Halloween, Friday the 13th, Texas chainsaw massacre and Nightmare on Elm Street
What others from that era am I missing...that are "classic/above average?
Also...as an aside...what do y'all consider the best of the bunch overall?
For me...I'm definitely liking Nightmare on Elm Street the most!... perfect mix of horror, comedic flourishes, memorable villain and (to me) surprisingly higher production values than the rest

2024.11.29 13:41 Jaskeet Throttle on the left or right? (Mode 1 vs Mode 2)
I think the question itself makes it evident that I am a beginner, I just started on the sims and the reality of how hard controlling a drone could be hit me hard!
Particularly with the throttle, being right dominant I have been struggling to keep fine tuning the throttle on the left side,
However I have already spent like a few hours learning with the throttle on the left,
Then I thought about using Mode 1 to see if I can do it better, I was equally bad.
Before I learn one of the above two modes, I wanted to know if there are any pros and cons.
I am planning to fly 5in racing FPV.

Looking at the current squad, and given we aren’t usually over-busy in the January window. i think we need 3 signings right now for depth & competition.
Firstly, a GK, quite self explanatory, Vic out until late Feb/early March and Forster just isn’t the level required for 3/4 months. Naturally I think the best option right now would be Kaylor Navas as a free agent or trying to sign someone like James Trafford or my personal choice Anthony Patterson from Sunderland.
Secondly I think another striker should be on the list, Solanke’s general play is fantastic, but as a fan I think we just haven’t got the same output as we’ve had previously through Kane, so Moneyball it and recreate him through the average, my personal choice here would be Cunha from Wolves.
Finally we need another CB, Davies did fantastically against City, but I think it would be unrealistic to expect that every match. Someone like Evan Ndicka (ironic) or Edmond Tapsoba, who we seem to be constantly linked with.
(I’m fully aware this still leaves us with 1 left back but I think Archie can do a good enough shift in there or even Davies if needed until the summer.)
Who do you all think we should be targeting?

2024.11.29 13:41 tommydaq Finally listed a NIB Hwy 35 Ultimate Trackset still in it's blue shipping plastic.
 | 20 years ago, when they came out, I purchased 2 Hwy 35 Ultimate Track Sets, and one set of the Hwy 35 cars. I gave one of the tracks to my son, then 5-years-old, as a Christmas present. Ha! He enjoyed that for about 2 weeks. We opened the case and looked at all of the cars in the car set, then resold that. It was fun to oggle over all the cool cars for a day or two. Then, I held onto the last track set for 20 years, until now. I just listed this on eBay last night!
