I have a friend who is a lesbian. She recently had a crush on a girl who follows the christian faith. Apparently, said girl returned my friend's feelings, but told her she can't be with another woman due to her faith.
Why do people want to believe and follow a God who forbids them from leading a happy life? I genuinely don't understand.
If God loved all of his children, wouldn't he want then to be happy? Did this girl, like, think my friend was the devil incarnate trying to tempt her into sin??
I don't know who to feel worse for at this point. My friend, because she and the girl heavily flirted with each other over multiple hour-longs discord calls, only for her to later be rejected like that, or the girl, because apparently she's so scared of the wrath of God that she doesn't allow herself to be happy.

2024.11.29 14:40 hbi2k Another game down: Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (GBA)
 | Castlevania is one of those series I've struggled to get into, despite being attracted by the series' vibe. The early (pre-SotN) games I've always found a little stiff for my tastes. Then Symphony of the Night came along, and moment-to-moment it felt nicer to play, but I can be hot and cold on Metroidvanias. Sooner or later you always reach a point where you're totally lost, with no idea where you need to go and what you need to do to progress, and that's the point where I usually set the game down and never come back to it. I hear people extolling the virtues of SotN, and I want to love it, but I seem to hit that point pretty early anytime I try to make it through that game. This game I think does a better job making its environments feel varied and with the level design of the castle in general, especially communicating when you've hit a dead end that you should come back to later when you've found a new ability. The random soul drops from enemies make backtracking feel less tedious, since every so often you'll get a new toy to play with. I had fun sort of poking around the edges of the map, keeping a tally in my head of the next couple spots I should explore once whatever area I'm currently exploring hits a dead end. And it gave me that old-school JRPG thrill of breaking through to a new area that feels like I'm just a little underpowered for, exploring it a little at a time before backing off to heal, and eventually learning the ins and outs of the new area enough (and gaining enough levels) that I can stop being quite so careful. That's a good feeling. The pacing is good, the game doesn't wear out its welcome; I got the "good" ending at about 6.5 hours. There's a robust post game / NG+ system, so there's still a lot of meat on the bone for folks who get to the end and still want more, but I'm feeling ready to move on to something else for now. I might come back to it down the line and try to figure out where the last 2.3% of the map is, farm all the enemy souls, etc. for the Retroachievements. submitted by hbi2k to SBCGaming [link] [comments] |

I noticed quite often my faith and many other faiths have been attacked using A Bit Cult Model. The Bite Cult Model was developed by Steven Hassan in what might have been a legitimate way of expressing concern and categorizing if someone is being manipulated and exploited. However it has an inherent flaw as does the word cult.
The Bite Model and the word cult can indiscriminately be used to classify anything in a negative way. To illustrate this I invite you all to take any sports organization, government, school, trade union or club and use the Bite model to evaluate it or even ask ChatGPT to do it for you. The results are quite troubling as it will call any religion or even atheism a cult and it will call any organization including sports, government, schools and unions cults.
I bring this up because I strongly believe in freedom of religion and each you having the right to explore your faith on your terms without people showing intolerance toward your faith whatever it might be. That is your search for the truth and you have a right to it. The Bite Model while it may have been well intentioned has become a tool for hate and intolerance.

Bolt action and pump action rifles/shotguns however can have all the banned features, as long as they’re 5 rounds or less. I have a few apps out for various agencies. I turn 37 in June and not sure I will get EOD by then for the ones I really want.
I have read a lot about stopping the clock with ANY BOP position. My question is how fast do they actually move. Can I hold off and apply 1-2 months out from my 37th birthday if it’s looking like I won’t make it for the other apps? How fast is onboarding? I don’t want a position there and feel bad “using” them and the resources.
Any other recommendations for someone with no LE experience in SoCal (if that makes a difference)?
