2024.11.29 15:41 Mickeyelle Sacred Watching Club Episode 2, Day 2: Challenges

It's Day 2 of our in-depth sacred watching of Episode 2 "How Bright the Moon"!
Today, we discuss challenges. We're a positive subreddit, so just a reminder that this isn't meant to be super negative ranting for the sake of ranting. But sacred watching should be honest, so this is a chance to name parts of the episode that we find challenging, uncomfortable, or difficult, and perhaps in our discussion, we may come to a better understanding, reframing, or acceptance of them.
See this link for yesterday's post on Highlights: https://www.reddit.com/PolinBridgerton/s/wM4FVLuH8r

2024.11.29 15:41 w7w7w7w7w7 7900 XTX or wait for the 50X0's roll out?

I just finished a fresh build with everything new besides bringing over my 3070. I could do about $700-$900 for a GPU. If you were in my shoes: Would you pull the trigger on a 7900 XTX? Or wait for the new Nvidia stuff and hope to end up around RTX 5070 ti ish with that budget?
I just keep going back and forth.

2024.11.29 15:41 grumpy-554 Can you give me your opionon on partnering with sales agency for B2B software service company?

I need some advice about working with external sales agency. I run a UK-based software dev agency building B2B bespoke software.
A sales agency wants to work with us. Thy seem to be confident they can generate sales in 3-6 months. We have a bunch of leads they can follow from day 1 so they may to get first sales earlier than that. Their offer is:
* monthly retainer (£1,500 for two months to "cover their costs", then £2,500 to "get a bit of profit")
* plus comission (rate not yet discussed)
* 12 months commitment
But here's the thing - I've been burned before. Three times. Each time it was the same story - paid the retainer, got lots of big promises, but zero actual sales, not even close. Each time we has three months commitment but exited early limiting our loss.
So here is my dilemma. I'm reluctant to pay any retainer at all. If they're really as confident as they say, they should be happy working for commission only, right? My thinking is that with their retainer ask they are looking at £28k in the first year. I can happily increase commission to cover that gap.
I'm wondering:
* Am I being too harsh/stupid/naive by refusing any retainer?
* Has anyone here worked with a sales agency that only got paid on commission? How did you set that up? How did it worked?
* What commission you would consider sensible? We aren't big and profit margins aren't great here. Looking at numbers, they would get about 70k in comission in 2025.
* I want to talk to three of their current/past customers. I don’t care about written testimony.
* What should I watch out for with commission-only deals?
I want this to work for everyone, but I can't keep throwing money away on partnerships that go nowhere.
I would love to hear your opinion. Am I totally bonkers here?
PS: X-posting this in a few subs.

2024.11.29 15:41 PuppyGuile [35/M] London UK - American in London looking for local friends for in person meet ups!

Hey there!
I'm a 35-year-old American who's called the UK home for the past 5 years, and I'm on the lookout for some new in person friends. Currently living and working in London and despite traveling all over the world, realized London is my favorite city. Bonus points if you're up for meeting my two fluffy dogs – because, let's be honest, having dogs is a cheat code when it comes to making friends in the UK.
By day, I'm a product manager in the city, but my journey has taken me through some interesting twists, including time in the US Army and a stint at a luxury fashion company.
Outside of the 9 to 5 grind, you'll find me picking things up and putting them down at the gym bright and early in the morning. I've stuck to my 2023 New Year's resolution and have gone to the gym quite regularly; it's become a source of pride. I've also recently gotten into reformer Pilates to increase my mobility. If you're a fellow gym rat who competes with no one but the person you were yesterday, we're bound to hit it off.
I'm also into improv comedy – I take classes and perform whenever I can. Originally, it was my way of finding a practical application for acting without fully committing to a career in it. It's been super helpful, especially in dealing with feelings of anxiety as well. If you're an improv geek too, I'd love to hear your experiences.
The pandemic lockdown brought out the mixologist in me, thanks to binging Mad Men. I love experimenting with cocktails and if you have a favorite cocktail and don't mind providing the ingredients, I'd be happy to try and craft it for you! Despite never working in hospitality before (does being a busboy as a teenager for a week count?), I finished a week-long bartending course and have a new found respect for bartenders and all the stuff they have to do day in and day out. If you're a bartender or have ever worked as one, would love to chat with you about your experiences!
And of course, I'm pretty basic too with your typical interests – sports (NCAA Football and NFL Football, with Army and the San Francisco 49ers as my teams), video games (League of Legends Wild Rift mainly, but really hopeful that EA Sports College Football 25 comes out on PC at some point because I don't have a PS or Xbox), and TV shows (Succession, Better Call Saul/Breaking Bad, and Mad Men are my absolute favorites). I'm also trying to get in to reading for pleasure (currently reading Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke) and DIY-ing (recently bought a house and fixing what I can YouTube) but man do I have to work at it.
If any of this resonates with you, I'd love to connect! Whether it's grabbing a drink, hitting the gym together, or just chatting about shared interests, I'm up for it. Drop me a chat request and let's make something happen! Can't think of an opener? What's a challenging experience you've faced and how did it shape your perspective?
